It has its own parking. In downtown this is a must esp if your driving. If your walking around and bar hopping it may not be a big deal. They have skeeball and an arcade game. It wasn’t crowded on a Friday night. I did not try the food so I can’t rate on that. I wasn’t feeling the music from the jukebox but that just depends on whose there. There’s a little outdoor patio. Seem to be alot of regulars. It was a beautiful night to enjoy the scene. Cool hang out spot to drink n chill.

I came to Elixir one evening after work with a few of my Unilocal friends to hangout on the patio and relax after a long day. They have a small parking lot in front, but street parking for me wasn’t too much of an issue. I was able to find a spot just a short walk away. They have a nice indoor area with a small bar and a bunch of tables and chairs. Same goes for outside with even more tables and chairs and this is also where the bathrooms are located. The bathrooms are atrocious and seem to be unisex since nothing is marked on the doors?! Anyways, they stunk and were not clean. Reminded me of an outhouse. Gross. I ordered a Grapefruit Sculpin from the bar which they had on tap, and a Pabst Blue Ribbon later on which wasn’t on tap so I got a can and a glass. I’m apparently horrible at this so I got a lot of foam with my beer and spilled some on the table as well. Rookie mistake. It was after work so I was hungry and ordered their Grilled Cheese with French Fries for my meal. The price was reasonable which I was thankful for. The fries were tasty and were cooked well where as the grilled cheese was cooked on the outside, but 90% of the cheese inside was not melted at all. See picture. This was obvious to whomever was cooking it because they cut it in half and could blatantly see the unmelted cheese, but decided to serve it anyways. I would come back and give it another chance if some of my friends wanted to go, but wouldn’t go back on my own.

This is the definition of dive bar. It’s smelly and weird. Also, how can a business be successful if they NEVER answer the phone!!!

We may or may not have stumbled over here after a few rounds at Bottle & Barlow… and we may or may not have ordered practically everything on the menu. Maybe it was the moment, maybe it was the booze, but all the fried food was AMAZING. Especially the tater tots. The carnitas was not so good though, it tasted weird. I was warned to not go to the bathroom here, so no comment there. However, this is a great spot to end the night. And probably start the night. I’ll be back. :)

We love Elixir. We all so love Elixir. Can you go to Elixir and not love Elixir? You’re lying to yourself if you say yes. One, it’s actually got parking. Not that you should drive here, but ya know, having a parking lot is still a plus. Two-Ten, the dranks are super decently priced and they have the good ones. They have good ciders for my mouth, they have good things to please everyone’s mouth. This is also why you probably don’t need to drive. More, the bartender has really snazzy pants. For some reason I instantly have more trust in bartenders with snazzy pants. More importantly, this is a chill local spot that is a good time but also I could place to actually talk to other people as if they’re real humans. Plus, the outdoor enclosed patio is super rad whether you’re sitting across from one fellow having a drank over conversation or crowding with a whole gang of folks talking rumbish. Yes Elixir, I’m going to be all up in you much more often.

What can I say? I quite digging for this dive bar located in the Downtown neighborhood! After I read some good reviews from the finest Unilocalers around, I decided to try it out on 5÷4÷2016 for this place called, «Elixir.» As I entered, the atmosphere is quite divey and elegant as I welcomed there. The concept is simple mixing a dark indoor bar with the finest bartenders out there especially a great outdoor patio too which you can hang out with your friends easier. It’s quite surprise that I’ve found two restroom doors right at the patio despite there’s no restroom signs on their doors. It’s like finding a good door to visit in Wonderland fantasy. The service is doing an amazing job for making the customers like me an enjoyable service. The bartender, Jen is such a great person after I met here for the first time. She did helped me to finished my purchase despite I forgot to pay it back a while ago. Overall, not a bad service at all! Now onto the food! After I ordered a glass of Blue Moon, I have the street pork tacos for a dinner appetizer taste. As I ate it, it tasted quite good! The shredded pork is tender and neatly which it gives a good flavors of salt and black pepper. Adding with a squeeze pint of lime is a breeze which I can delight for. Not a bad tacos at all! Parking at Elixir can be challenging to park. You can park at their smallest lot nor the surface street parking if it’s available. Otherwise, you can also ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. In the end, Elixir is the coolest and the most wickest dive bar that I’ve really enjoyed for. I’ll come back for more if there’s an upcoming hangout around! A great visit! My rating: 4 solid stars.

It was Wednesday, somewhat past five Three giraffes had recently arrived Inflated and full, took their place on a stool Rocket 1, 2, and 3… they survived What a cool divey little spot. More of a small neighborhood bar than a dive. Nothing disreputable here that I noticed. With a covered outdoor space, there’s room for more than a few at this clean, upbeat, «be careful where you park», stop in for one or a few, friendly, let’s have a laugh or really get into it, … establishment. During happy hour(s), the power of a PBR can be had in a can for only a couple bucks(+/-) … my ‘go-to’ HH first beer. A few other craft beers available and a full bar. Saw a few blue drinks passed off. Bathrooms? Yes, they have them and they are what they are. They come in handy when you need one and better to have these than none at all.

I can’t believe I gave this place a four star due to a shitty bathroom. The bartendress with the jazzy yoga pants is a goddess. She truly thinks of everything. Just asked me if I wanted a to go lid for my ranch dressing side. Who remembers to do that? Wonder Woman does. I might be tipsy right now. Don’t quote me. Also. Yummy pizza. Gigantic street tacos loaded with meat. The Best Sweet Potato Fries in this Town and Possibly The World No Definitely the World. nomnomnomnom. I love elixir.

Came back last night for some drinks after our run. My friend ordered the carnitas nachos and they were pretty damn good. I was surprised a dive bar like had some decent food! Another friend ordered a turkey burger and said it was good also. Not that packed for a thursday night so it was easy to get a seat and relax.

So I’ve been going out in Sac for like 10 years but I had never been here before. Was meeting up with friends for drinks around 7pm. My friend had been here before but it was a long time since she had been here. We actually drove right past it since the sign for elixer was out or off. Anyways it’s a nice little dive with $ 2 high lifes and the typical bar food was good. Bathrooms are kinda gross but not the worst I’ve ever seen. I do like the fact that you could totally take over this bar with about 10 of your friends since it is pretty small. It does have a patio area for the smokers and it would probably be a nice spot to drink at in the summer. Overall not a bad dive!

This place is unpretentious, a little bit sticky, and always a good time ! The bartenders to the servers to the patrons are all pretty cool people. Their beer selection is decent and omg their burgers are the !!! You wouldn’t expect good food in a hole in the wall bar, but yes very very delicious foods come out of their kitchen ! Love their jukebox, skeeball, and I think a few random arcade games. They have an outdoor area as well but usually a lot of smokers are hogging the area. Down side is their nasty bathrooms. It’s gross. Barf. Other then that this place rocks.

Magic Potions can indeed be found here, along with Magic Fries. Would be a solid fiver if not for what I like to call the Bathroom Adventure. Is there someone in there? I don’t know. I’ll have to push on the door and see, and I’ll have to push hard. It won’t be awkward at all. Then the actual bathrooms themselves are pretty terrible, especially compared with the awesomeness everywhere else at this place. I mean, the bathroom sitch at the Trap is cleaner, and that is saying something. ANYWAY, everything else kicks ass. Sweet Potato Fries. Some of the best I’ve ever had ever in the history of forever. I can’t even name a better batch right now. Crispy on the outside, none of that mushy business. Taste is pure tantalizing scrumptiousness. I have to have these bad boys every time I come in here. There’s plenty of other food here, too, variety of brew on tap, and strong drinks for cheaps. I appreciate the outdoor seating areas as well as the indoors tv set up. It’s a good place to chill and watch Sportsball. Plus also, there’s arcade games and a jukebox for the people who don’t want to do any of the aforementioned things. I like how accommodating and friendly the bartenders are. I was tipsy and asked one guy to «make me a green girly thing» and he made this delicious masterpiece for me. No judgments.

This is one of my favorite bars! It’s definitely a dive bar, if that’s what you’re into. I’ve been here both during happy hour and late night on the weekend, I like both vibes. Their happy hour is great because it goes until 7 pm, they do $ 1 off draft beers and $ 3 well drinks. I’ve seen people from all different age groups here, there’s something for everyone! Late night is usually not too busy, but is a nice place to stop by and grab a drink earlier in the night. They have ski ball in the back, which is a fun thing to try when you’ve been drinking! The bartenders have always been really friendly to me, and the owner is the best! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was their food. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just definitely bar food, nothing special.

We actually had great experience here until we tried to close out. As we were standing at the non-crowded bar, the bar back/bouncer was behind the bar. He happened to be the person who took our credit card to start a tab. When we were ready to close out, he was behind the bar and repeatedly ignored our requests for service(«hey man, can you help us? We need to close out») etc… When we finally got the bartender to close us out, we heard him say«f*** that guy» to the bartender when we asked her to close us out. We were just trying to get our tab closed out so we could pay(and tip) our bartender. It was truly the most disgusting display of non-customer service I have ever witnessed. We are people who have to worked in the hospitality industry and are fairly lenient when it comes to service, as long as we are treated with respect. This was such a disgusting display of unwarranted disrepect, I highly doubt we’ll be back to this cool bar again. And that makes me sad, because we loved the skee ball. Too bad.

Elixer is in my opinion the best dive bar in Sacramento. If you want a strong drink, great food and an amazing beer selection, this is the place to go. I like to go on Thursday nights! Christina is an excellent bartender who makes delicious shots and mixed drinks. She is also one of the cleanest bartenders I’ve ever met. The food here is amazing! Some of my all time favorites are the street tacos, mini corn dogs with tots and pretty much any burger on the menu! Yum Yum Yum. If you’re a dive bar kind of person, or even if you’re not, try this place out! They have their own parking lot, outdoor seating, ski ball and great service!

After have a really good night we decided to stop by thelixir for a late night bite. We encountered the owner who is a heavy set Asian woman who took our order. My girlfriend is Muslim and didn’t realize the chicken sandwich had bacon on it. Instead nicely informing us that the kitchen was closed she decides to be disrespectful and religiously insensitive. She also decided to gossip behind the bar with other customers about my girlfriends discontent with the situation. She was only sorry when we demanded our money back and tried to get us free sodas to make amends which was too late. The food is good, but expect to have terrible and rude service especially when I saw the other server help one of our friends and she was also VERY rude. Not to mention the 1st time I went here my friend had food poisoning for 4 days. DON’T SUPPORTBUSINESSTHATDOESN’T VALUEANDRESPECTCUSTOMERSONEOFTHEWORSTEXPERIENCESIVEHADINTHISCITYINMY25 years.

Looking for a bite and a beer? Elixir has both, and if you like dive bars you won’t be disappointed. The $ 6.25 Street Tacos are a great deal. Three double-tortilla tacos piled a couple inches deep with carnitas and chopped onions. My current after-work go to. The beer is great too: Green Flash, Sculpin, Ninkasa Tricerahops, Scrimshaw, and even Two Rivers cider. They get five stars just for the taps. The bar is divey, tables outside for the smokers, skeeball inside. A few TVs around with games on. Pandora playing a Dinosaur Junior mix at the moment. I won’t have their beef burger again(typical Costco patty) but everything else has been good. On the other hand, someone had the mushroom and blue cheese burger and it looked good. Great spot near Ironsides(+1), lighting up an otherwise state worker wasteland. An excellent alternative to the faux Brit crap at Fox and Goose.

I love this bar! I can’t say enough good things about it. The people are SUPER friendly. And the food is very good and cheap! I have tried all of the appetizers and they are all good. They used to serve carnitas tacos that were A-MAZING! I haven’t seen them on the menu lately. Hopefully, they will return. The parking lot is small, but there is plenty of street parking. I have never had any issues.

Swung by here on a Friday night. Whoa it was swinging. Killer tunes here, metal/rock with a dash of Michael Jackson. They also got a arcade game and skee ball. So when I ordered a drink, the bartender was very friendly and even suggested a drink for my girlfriend. After a few drinks I ordered some hot wings and boy they get spicey quick yum. My girlfriend got the royale burger with the fried egg in it. The burger was intense. The fried egg in it was a bit too much for me. If you get it, you’ll see maybe haha. Oh it can also get very busy and full here fast. Great divey feel here with rocking tunes.

Great food and great beer selection! Loved this spot. Great music played all night, not sure if it was coming from the jukebox or the bartender’s ipod, either way it was good. I had some garlic fries, cause I don’t want to get killed by a vamp and they worked! I had the grilled cheese with it and it was awesome. Really loved the simplicity of it. Great beer selection, I got an Obsidian Stout, it was amazeballs. Then I switched to my usual Scrimshaw pils. But they had Sculpin on tap and I am not a huge fan of ipa, I know, I should just kill myself for being so uncool, but this is a great one from San Diego all ipa fans should try it. Anyway great place very laid back and loud.

James once told me that Elixir had the best Biscuits and Gravy he’s ever had. I didn’t even know they had food. The first time I went to Elixir, they didn’t even have a sign on the building. They have a sign nowadays. They also have skeeball, a jukebox. This place is a cool little hang out AND they have their own parking lot. Indoor and outdoor seating. Happy hour m-sat 4 – 7, sun 4-close Sunday brunch Trivia Wednesday nights 8pm And I did come to brunch to find out about these Biscuits and Gravy that I heard about and I wasn’t as impressed with them to say ‘best ever’ but James thinks so… So, there you go. Somebody loves it. Aside from the brunch, they serve regular bar food. I like the place for the hang out and drink factor. That’s what I’m a fan of here.

Elixir is a delightful dive in the downtown/midtown area(what’s the difference? who knows!) Super cheap and smack-in-the-face strong drinks. A comfortable outdoor patio perfect for warm nights. Surprisingly tasty food! Really good burgers, and like seriously, those onion rings doh. A few random arcade games and overflowing posters and décor give this place a unique but comfy neighborhood vibe. Fun times all around!

Chill place, my mind of music(rock n roll and anything that includes some sort of guitar). It’s super close to my place as well so walking here isn’t a trek. HAPPYHOURTIMES: Everyone mentions a great happy hour, which it has, but no one has posted TIMES. Come on people. Help everyone out! Here they are: Mon — Sat: 4 — 7 p.m. Sun — 4 p.m. — 2 a.m. I plan to come back to this bar. Nice environment, large enough patio for a big crowd & even some fun games in the back. Check it out.

Came in here for a nightcap with my two friends to hang out a little longer without breaking the bank. They have a good selectuon on tap, good food selection and you can tell the regulars really love it here. We ended up sitting outside cause it was a gorgeous night. A patron or employee(you can’t really tell) came by and bantered with us for a bit which was cool. Its kind of bland out back with a high fence and not a lot to look at but hence being classified as a DIVE bar. The games and interior is pretty great for how small the place is. Definitely suits a small group of adult kids! Games and boos and cheap prices; it’s no Dave and Busters but walking distance to my place and I got in and out spending under $ 10 for my drinks(yes multiple)!

This is still a great bar with great food, but I thought I should update my review since they no longer serve the breakfast I raved about the first time. The Good: Cheap and good food(the sandwiches are huge). Cheap and good drinks. Good music. Bartender rocks. Good smoking patio. Usually a chill crowd. The Bad: That bathroom. No more breakfast hurts my feelings. Over all, a great dive bar and wonderful place to get shittier than you intended to on a Tuesday after work.
