Flaming Grill Cafe

Sad to say, I did not enjoy my visit here. It was actually really disappointing since this restaurant has 4 stars. Ordered the wagyu mushroom swiss burger ($ 11.99) with carne asada fries ($ 2.99). The burger was dry, bland and the bread was tough to eat. The bread tasted like it was stale. Fries were okay… wish it was a little crispier. It didn’t occur to me until afterwards that they never asked how I wanted the burger to be cooked. Maybe it would’ve made a difference if I specified… but I probably won’t be coming back. Yes, that’s how horrible it was.
The chipotle wings were pretty good though. A little dry, but at least it was flavorful lol. Maybe I came on a bad day. My parents and sister said they recently went to their newer location in Elk Grove and it was much better. Patty wasn’t as dry, not as bland and bread definitely did not taste stale. Until next time, Flaming Grill. Or… not.

My favorite so far is the chorizo burger and the buffalo burger with onion strings, and BBQ sauce.

11 bucks for a philly, fries and a drink… But I would not recommend… If you happen to be around the area, I would recommend SAMs sub shop… They are cheaper and you get more… I guess I should have tried a burger instead…

The first thing I’ll say is if I could do half stars, I would give this place a 3.5 but I decided to roundup since a 3 would be a bit harsh. But it’s not quittee a 4 star, in my opinion. The reason I am rounding up is they have so many menu options, and several did look really delicious so I don’t want to judge too quickly.
I tried the wagyu burger which was NOT good. I don’t think that’s the fault of Flaming Grill though, because several people at my table said they’ve never liked it anywhere they’ve tried it and don’t know what the hype is about. I really suggest staying far away from that.
My friend, on the other hand, got the bacon avocado burger (no crazy patty, just normal beef) and that looked DELICIOUS. I didn’t try but I can’t imagine it was bad at all.
Their fries were really great — they had that crispy/​flaky quality and were thick cut (which I like a lot) so they had a lot of natural flavour. I had the fries both plain and stole a few bites of someone’s carne asada fries. The CA fries were good but not great. Considering they were slathered in sour cream, cheese, and meat I actually think they were a little bland. It reminded me of bland macaroni… which is usually better than no macaroni… but then you look at the ingredient list and wonder how it’s even possible to make macaroni bland? I digress.
I would probably not come rushing back here of my own accord, but if a friend wanted to go back I think I would give one of the normal burgers a shot instead of getting crazy with one of the exotic meats.

I got the gator bites and ½lb buffalo burger. The gator bites were chewy but that’s just how the meat is but aside from that (I recommend cutting it into thinner/​smaller pieces of you come across a big piece) they were pretty good. They kind of reminded me of clam but not fishy if that makes sense. The buffalo burger was like an average burger I don’t really have any comments because I am not that much of a fan of a lot of meat or burgers. My only complaints are that there isn’t an air conditioner and the fans do not help at all I felt like I was sitting in a microwave and there were flies everywhere. Also, one of the waiters likes to talk for a while so if that’s not your thing then maybe avoid this place.

1 Star for their selection. This burger joint offers exotic meats such as camel, wild boar, ostrich, kangaroo, gator, the list goes on. Their menu has tons of amazing options. Unfortunately I wasn’t pleased with much of anything we had, and all of the meat was cooked poorly. Let me just say, I’m not hard to please! I’m a piggy! I love everything! ESPECIALLY meat!
First I finally decided on the chorizo burger, and was confident it would be great. Soon to find out they were out of chorizo. So got a burger suggested by the waitress, the carnitas burger with a wild boar patty. Which came out completely dry and overcooked.
Since my burger wasn’t edible, my roommate shared his Wagyu burger with me. Which is a high quality Japanese cow. And known to be comparable to Kobe beef. It would have been great! If it wasn’t RAW.
I don’t know what’s going on in that kitchen, but I took the meat home to my dogs and I couldn’t even manage to give my dog the leftover Wagyu meat because it looked completely uncooked.
We also ordered a fry trio which was okay, and the gator bites which were actually good. I would suggest trying them if you do go.
Seeing as how there are 2 locations, I will say I am willing to give them another chance at the other location; but I won’t be back to this one.

Great burgers and sandwiches… It’s a really exotic menu… They’ve got buffalo meat, alligator meat and you can upgrade to wagyu for a little extra cash… love it.

Great place to eat and grab a brew.
Each burger and fries is basically 2 meals.
They have a great selection of beers and their happy hour deals are awesome.
Happy hour is 3−6pm Mon-​Fri.
If you like exotic meats or just want a big burger you won’t be let down. If you have a big appetite upgrade your fries to either garlic fries, carne asada, or carnita fries for a few bucks more.

So honestly when my boyfriend and I first pulled up to this place it definitely looked like a hole in the wall type of place. It wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. It’s pretty tiny place so you got to watch out you might pass it like us! That was the first impression. I didn’t let up though because sometimes the «Hole in the wall» places might be some of the best foods arojnd!
Anywho, walked in on a hot day and ugh no air conditioning at all. There is a lot of fans just blowing on you. It’s technically outside. They just have some kind of tent thing over you. Definitely don’t come here on a extremely hot ass day! We got sat and overall the costumer service was eh. You know? You can’t expect the world at a place like this.
Thirdly, most importantly, THEE FOOD. Simply amazing. That’s what the food was! I loved it. I ordered a elk bacon and avocado burger. There were so many types of meat but I was so indecisive which one to get. But I’m so happy I chose elk! I ordered it at medium rare and YAS I totally made the right choice for that. It was at the right amount of juiciness! My boyfriend ordered a different type of burger but at medium and to be honest it wasn’t juicy enough for my preference. Unfortunately, I forgot what the meet was called. It was a extremely exotic name hahah.
So yeah, overall: I recommended this place as long as you don’t go on a hot day because there is no air conditioning. Plus try the exotic meats! YOU WONT REGRET IT :)

If you want gaint food, the flaming grill has it. Burgers the size of your head and salads the size of pizzas. A little warning though, it’s called the flaming grill for a reason. The food can be SPICY. The burgers are great quality and they have some cool meat choices. Just keep in mind they cook them pretty well done by default. The service can be hit and miss. When you enter it’s a little confusing, so I think the servers should put in some extra effort to be pleasant and helpful when seating.

This place looks like a tornado leveled everything accept parts of a concrete wall, concrete benches and concrete tables. The rest of the place is put together like a squatters shack with odds and ends holding the place together, oh btw there is no door LOL. Basically semi enclosed seating built around the enclosed kitchen.
The Carne Asada fries are worth a trip on their own. Crisp fries topped with pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, fresh jalapenos and carne asada YUM.
We tried the pastrami burger and the Monster burger. Both burgers were cooked to perfection and were stacked on some type of soft but firm bun which held together perfectly. The Monster burger had a ton of stuff going on but it blended into a tasty sweet spicy bite.
If you want to try some exotic meat or just a darn good burger FGC fits the bill nicely.

My first time being here. We were greeted by the owners brother and was seated is quite fast. They’re very knowledgable with how everything tastes and they have these Exotic burgers that you’d never imagine! Must Try!!!

Got the bacon cheddar burger with waygu beef and side of carne asada fries :) So Delicious. cooked Perfectly. Full of flavor. I Feel The Portion Sizes Are Huge. Big Enough For Two People In My Eyes. Its A MUST try if your in the area. Yummm.

Ambiance: I love the outdoor fire burners inside the building cause it kept me warm on a cold rainy day. The paintings looked very cool, very bold looking pictures, like fire! Seats and tables were kind of comfortable, the table that I sat at felt like I was sitting on a rock.
My bf and I ordered carne asada fries for an appetizer, and the BBQ beef burger.
— carne asada fries: we asked if this can come out first and the waiter said yes it can. It’s a lot of fries, and the taste wasn’t authentic like from a Mexican restaurant, but it’s decent. I was so hungry and I basically killed half of this super fast. Just this appetizer itself is very filling. I absolutely loved the texture of the fries cause it’s the crispy kind, not soggy ones like McDonald’s. I did notice there were a lot of toppings, yummy melted cheddar cheese, but not enough of the steak pieces.
— BBQ beef burger: we asked them to cut it in half since it’s a lot of food. This comes with fries but we changed it to garlic fries for $ 1.50 more. The fries did not have a strong garlic taste, which was fine with me cause I wouldn’t want bad garlic breath. There’s so much fries! The burger was extremely huge, so much meat patties in it. There’s cheddar cheese, and roast beef in it as well. Roast beef is a major plus and who doesn’t love more protein in their burger; the slices had BBQ sauce on it, although it kind of tasted like teriyaki sauce to me, yum. There’s also grilled onions as well as grilled onion shoestrings, tasted so crispy, I loved this burger!
My experience is worth it and hands down one of the best big burgers and portions in Sacramento. However, parking is very limited.

This was my first time there. I felt like I was in a buddy’s garage watching the fight. Oddly comfortable. Semi-​outdoor seating with cement tables and benches. They have ceiling fans for the summer and heat pillars for the winter. Flat screens in every direction and sports being shown on each, as it should be.
I had the Camel burger with bacon, avocado, and jack cheese! It was very good! The seasoned fries were great as well.
I highly recommend trying the daily catch, which the camel was part of. Rabbit and kangaroo were also available today. I plan to get the gator strips the next time I stop by.
Oh! If you are a beer junkie, the selection is ridiculous !

They also have a list of beers you can choose with your burgers. Really awesome place to come out and have some burgers and fries.

Our waiter Fernando was totally friendly. He made us feel at home. We ordered elk with brown rice with pico de gallo and a chorizo burger with fries. Everything tasted pretty good. Best fries I’ve had in a while. Will definitely come back to explore the menu more.

The original flaming grille ! This is definitely one of me and my bfs favorite places to eat at. We’ve had date nights here and one funny thing about the times we’ve come here is, we always make friends with the people dining next to us. We usually end up leaving with not only leftovers, but new contacts in our phones lol .
Just yesterday, we decided to come and get our craving for their fries satisfied. Maria was our server and she was really friendly ! Other times, we’ve either had one of the twins or Richie. I ordered the chicken adobada fries while my bf had the carne asada fries. The chicken adobada fries tasted way too much like their chorizo fries which I’ve had before. I was convinced that I was given the wrong order, even another server I asked confirmed that they were chorizo but according to our server, chorizo and chicken adobada are very similar in taste so I just went with it .
Our meals tasted good, came out in a timely manner, and the service was good. While we were leaving, Fernando the owner approached us to ask how everything was. He ended up talking to us about their new location which his brother just recently opened up. Check them out !

I have been here 3x already and every time has been a good experience. I have had the elk and buffalo burgers in the past. This time, I tried the mushroom swiss kangaroo burger with chorizo fries. My boyfriend ordered the jalapeño jack alligator burger with chili cheese fries. Both the burgers were very tasty and hearty. The kangaroo patty was very thick and tasted gamey (YUM!). The chorizo fries were okay and kind of dry. I prefer the carne asada fries, but wanted to switch it up.
It was pretty hot and seating is outdoor only. Order a beer and you will survive. Great selection of beers and exotic meats. They also have sandwiches, salads, and meat bowls if you want to be healthy. Friendly staff and HUGE portions.
