Just found out this place has closed its doors. Sad, not incredibly surprising. That being said, here’s my quickie review from a couple months ago: Huge place, pricey. Got a sandwich to go. Excellent service.

This place has a lot going on! They’ve got a restaurant, a hot food case, and a grocery store going on as well? It’s kinda confusing when you first walk in. My friend and I were there specifically for Happy Hour. It took the waitress a minute to realize we were there for the«bistro.» I didn’t get a chance to check out the other stuff they have going on, but I will be back to explore another time. The beers on special are pretty good — $ 6 for 24 oz. We tried the hef and the dark beer — I wanted to also get the IPA, but they ran out of that. Between the 2 of us, we got 5 appetizers… The onion rings, calamari, sweet potato fries, mac and cheese, and buffalo wings. They had some really good sauces that come with the apps. All pretty tasty except for the mac and cheese. That was pretty bland. For $ 3 each, I couldn’t complain. The service was pretty good. It got kinda busy after a while and the waiter still made sure to check up on us. I rather enjoy this spot and can’t wait to return for more!

We went to this restaurant during the« Unilocal Good Eats» week event of July 11th-17th. I won’t forget this day because a group of us Unilocal friends met here to take part in the 50% off meal deal. And it just so happened to be my «cough» birthday. A yearly event that normally comes and goes like any other day. I looked forward to going after a long day at work, but was suffering from a headache. But I just didn’t want to miss out on that special offer and trying out a new restaurant at the same time. Upon arriving here, I was especially impressed at how spacious this eatery is. Lots of room that appears to have sections where you can choose to eat in the bistro, café area, comfortable lounge, or just sit at the bar. There is a help yourself refrigerated mini store that displays already made sandwiches, salads, fruit and a variety of bottled drinks for those who don’t have the time to wait for food preparation. A long table was already set up for us Unilocalers as we trickled in. It was great to see all the familiar faces that frequent the events. We were handed a special menu in which we were to choose at least 2 or more items to qualify for our discount. 3 appetizers, entrees and desserts were offered. My boyfriend, his daughter and I, all chose different dishes to share. Sicilian house-made focaccia sticks with marinara sauce, fried calamari, and fish & chips for appetizers. The entrees consisted of Asian salmon salad, and the Good Eats combo pizza. A portabella mushroom sandwich was also offered, but we didn’t try it, due to all the other food we had already ordered. I would say that Good Eats lived up to its name! I enjoyed all the dishes! We were so full, that we had to pass on the desserts which would have been Key lime tart, lemon cooler cake or a triple chocolate cake. I’m sorry to have missed out on those! And because it was my day of birth, which I usually keep under wraps in order to avoid facing the reminder of my advanced age, someone in the group let it slip and I was serenaded with the traditional«happy birthday» song. Something I hadn’t heard on my behalf for quite sometime. Usually my birthdays quietly pass along. But I was treated a little special despite being embarrassed! The staff at «Good Eats» was very accommodating to our whole party, and the wonderful waiter who served us was even more attentive and gave me a free slice of a delicious«Fruit Basket» birthday cake to take home for later! Now, I’m sure they offer this to all birthday recipients, as most restaurants do, but on that one day, for once, I didn’t care about how old I was!

I have been here a few times now: once with the guys, once on my own and once for a lunch date. The hot food that you order and take to your table is total comfort food. WOW, i had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and the green beans. I was in a coma. The 2nd time, i had the lasagne and green beans. The food was ½ price because everyday between 8&9 all food in the buffet areas are. So, its been sitting there a while so you know how it was. The 3rd time, I sat on the patio and had table service. I ordered the steak salad which was awesome. The food is a hair high in price but you do get good quality. Its a nice place with a nice bar. The only time I have ever seen it busy is lunch. I will be back often.

I’m not really sure how this place is still in business. I always forget it’s around and only went there for lunch because a friend suggested it. The day I went, the restaurant side was only half full. The service was good and the food is really good, but a bit overpriced for a regular visit. I mean a $ 13 hamburger? Also, what’s with not having a sandwich menu at the deli? Once I wandered in here to pick up a sandwich to go and the guy behind the counter said, «Well, we can make anything.» Oh really? So if I ordered the headcheese on pumpernickel, you could hook me up? Not that I would order such a sandwich, but people aren’t very smart(myself included) and need a little guidance about what is available. Bring on the sandwich board! Needless to say, I left without ordering anything because I was just too overwhelmed by the possibilities.

Went here for Happy Hour last week with the girls, and it was a «Give-Me-One-Of-Everything» type of night. We ordered everything from their Happy Hour Menu, and I must say, every single appetizer we had was excellent! There was plenty for four girls to share; seven appetizers total. And to boot, it only cost us $ 21.00(not including tax and gratuity)! I would definitely return for their Happy Hour. By the way, if you plan on ordering«one of everything» on their Happy Hour menu, like we did, don’t sit at a four top table. The table will be too small for everything you’re about to eat! Check out the photo I posted of everything we ordered!

Great food. Nice staff. Just one small problem: The ladies bathroom had human feces all over the floor. It was seriously the most disgusting thing I’ve ever encountered. I know the staff did not put it there so I forgive, but wow… maybe they could start locking the bathrooms so homeless people can’t poop everywhere. I had a hard time eating after I saw that,(which was before my meal.) I did regain my appetite eventually and ordered the scallops,(yummy.) Husband had the biggest burger they had and it was very tasty. My 2 y/o had mac n’ cheese with fruit. It was served scalding hot even though I told them it was for the baby and it was even from the kid’s menu. It burned my mouth, I can’t imagine how horrible it would have been for the baby. Key lime tart was delicious. We would come back.

The best things about this place, was their sides. The actual meals were not very impressive, and came with a price tag that left very high expectations. Their sweet potato fries were some of the best I’ve ever had, perfect flaky outside consistency with a nice soft and delicious inside. Those sweet potato fries were a work of art. However, the Steak Sandwich they came with was bland and uninspiring. It could have used a sauce or spice, or maybe a marinade on the meat… Second, the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich came with shredded rotisserie chicken meat(which included a few pieces of cartilage from a sloppy cook, and I would’ve much preferred a breast or other solid piece), with celery slices(a good touch), and far too much chunky blue cheese. The blue cheese completely overpowered even the strength of the buffalo sauce(no easy task). I ordered this with Grilled Veggies, which came with a buttery flavor and was very, very good. We also ordered the tuna tartar as an appetizer, and it was pretty decent, but I don’t know if it was worth the $ 12, but it wasn’t bad. This place is the definition of identity crisis. Walking in, it was very strange and awkward trying to figure out where we needed to go to be seated. It was as if we(meaning to walk into a restaurant) walked unto a market, with a bakery, a café, and some seating off to the side, where a number if people got to watch as we walked around, stupidly trying to figure it all out. Another example of this is the menu/pricing. It’s as if they’re trying to do fancy, but failing to deliver. When a restaurant puts their prices at a high point, they must be able to back it up with high quality food… Good Eats did not. The service was excellent however, with some of the nicest people I’ve ever had serving me, but in the end the value of the meal was not there, and so they failed in my book. I would normally give quality of this type of place 3 stars, but the high prices bring them down a notch.

Good Eats is better than good. Good is an understatement. As Tony the Tiger would say, «They’re gggrrreeaattt!» This restaurant/deli/bistro/coffee house has a little of everything under one roof, which makes it a little hard to easily define and may be the reason for some of the harsher reviews they’ve received. Personally, I like that there is a one-stop shop for all my quality goods where I can also grab an upscale dinner or some tasty apps while I slurp a signature cocktail in the bar. I’ve had a meal here twice now and thoroughly enjoyed each experience, both in food quality and ambiance. I highly recommend starting with the sweet potato fries. These are some of the best I’ve had. Then, for around $ 20, you’ll get the best filet mignon for the price in town. Cap your meal off with a fine bottle of wine(no corkage fee if it’s off their shelves) and you have a top-notch dining experience! I know I’ll be returning very soon and dragging along some friends to share the experience!

Good Eats… what an ambitious, yet luring name! This place is sooo cute. Its like a mini Whole Foods/Nugget, with a local flare — you get a market, hot deli items, coffee bar, and a bistro area to complete the package. All things being said… I do want to come back and try everything. If I hadn’t tasted the Steak sando, I might have only give them 3 stars. I’m still in a quandary about this place, so maybe my review won’t be as up-to-par as the Unilocal word demands. However, I cannot express enough gratitude for the deliciousness in the form of Good Eats Steak Sandwich. It tickled my taste buds with their savory foccia bread, perfectly seasoned steak, refreshing slices of cucumber, and all in all GOOD EATSness :) Things I am on the fence about… thus the lack of enthusiasm: 1. Made a res-ie, because this seems to be grid-must-try-becuase-its-new, yet the hostess forgot about it upon our arrival 2. The chicken sando was okay, despite having Tarragon aoil… it was bland 3. I really wanted the Sweet Potato’s, yet I got sweet potato fries and I was highly anticipating the caloric goodness of butter-glazed sweet potato’s 4. The same bartender broke 4, yup F-O-U-R glassware’s during our 2 hour dining experience 5. Their desert presentation is a food stylists dream come true, however, as my friend so kindly stated — this chocolate is quite«superfluous» — maybe in an attempt to fancy up the desert, they drizzle loads of chocolate on the plate, beneath the yummy deserts(only $ 5 each and pretty yums), but its beyond over powering… Their pricing was on par with this setting. I think… as many have alluded too… they are working out the«kinks». Good Eats, you’re almost there…

Good Eats has definitely shown some improvements in the service and food quality realms, thus I will update to add another star. Eggs benedict was tasty, and they followed all my nit picky characteristics to a «T» — eggs over hard and hollandaise on the side. At $ 12, it was a little high for a standard benny, which typically ranges from 8.95 to 10.95. Once you are in the $ 12 and up range, I begin to expect a novelty benny, such as the crab cake variety. Either way, It came with a delicious fruit bowl, laden w/strawberries and blueberries. The lack of melon made this Unilocaler super happy! Ryan M. had the french toast. He found it pretty good, albeit a bit smaller in portion(perhaps comparing to Tower?) for the price. However, he also was stoked about the superior fruit bowl. As you can tell by the ample signage near the hostess stand, Good Eats is committed to improvement. I commend this dedication — and hope that it will continue to «work out the kinks», making it a top destination for its patrons.

I went to check out Good Eats for their happy hour. As for happy hour, it was pretty good, decent selection. I got their mac n cheese, and the grilled veggies. My boy got the calamari and sweet potato fries. We each had a riesling and were both full and satisfied. The service was on top of it, but not overly friendly. I checked out their regular menu and it seemed pretty pricey. After we ate, we went to check out the market portion of the place. I was pretty disappointed. I kind of expected cool and unusual wines, meats, cheeses, etc. In all actuality, it was like a crappy version of a Nugget Market deli. Bad selection on the shelves, appeared to have a decent deli. I would go back for happy hour, but that’s about it.

I have been here numerous times. I usually go to sit in the café area and knit. I have eaten the rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, butternut squash, and mac and cheese. The chicken comes as a ½ chicken. It was juicy and very chicken-y(yes I made that up). All the other sides are standard and good, but I REALLY liked the butternut squash. My friend said it was too onion-y for her, but I loved it. I am happy to report that the service has improved with time. The wait at the coffee counter doesn’t take 15 minutes anymore. The bartenders are always awesome. They have a nice happy hour. I believe it’s from 2−6pm Monday through Friday. Try the old vine zin, delish and easy to drink. Overall, a nice place to meet with friends, eat, and talk.

I recently visited Good Eats and had a pleasant experience. I sampled several of their baked and liked them all. The focaccia bread was especially good with a soft texture and flavorful taste. The European roast coffee was strong and really woke me up. I can’t say I’m in love with the mac and cheese. It was served a little on the cold side, and had a chunky appearance that did not inspire. The chicken was better with a nice crispy crust and good flavor but was again served on the cold side. I enjoyed the staff. They were cheerful, friendly and helpful. They were short on coffee when I ordered so a nice young girl with a name tag that read Bran Muffin offered me a second cup for free. The coffee bar was also giving away free Valentine’s day chocolates courtesy of Bran Muffin again. The staff made it pleasant visit and with a little direction in the kitchen I think this place will really improve.

Wow, I can’t believe that this place doesn’t have higher ratings. I came here for lunch today and I really enjoyed it. To start, we ordered the quatro formaggio pizza and it was HUGE! Obviously it wasn’t meant to be a starter but there was 5 of us and there was plenty to go around. For my entrée I went with the rotisserie chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and mac n’ cheese. The chicken comes with any 2 sides you want, so that’s what I chose. It was delicious — the chicken was so tender and the mashed potatoes were tasty. The mac n’ cheese was so rich and creamy but it was the best part of my meal! All of the portions were pretty large, so I was able to take some home. Good Eats carries Freeport Bakery desserts, so of course we were all over that. I ordered a slice of the pumpkin pie with cream, which was yummy. I also tried a bite of the salted chocolate cake and the festival of lights cake. The salted chocolate cake was the best! I will definitely order my own slice of that next time. The best part of Good Eats is that it’s connected to a grocer where they sell tons of yummy treats. We ended up picking up some rosemary shortbread cookies, frosted sugar cookies, raspberry swirl cookies, and lemon glazed cookies. YUM. I would come here just to pick up some goodies — which I will be doing in the future. So overall, I would say GE is great for a nice lunch out with friends. The restaurant is large and spacious with tons of seating and couches with tables to enjoy a cup of coffee from the café or a glass of wine. I will be back soon!

Great location, great decoration, thats about as far as it goes. The grocery store is nothing special. All of the display cases are empty. The service is SLOW and TERRIBLE. Our waiter was so inattentive, never coming to check on us or refill our water. The food is bland and over priced for how plain it is. The menu is pretty generic. Definitely not impressed. Wouldn’t go back to this place.

My original review of this place indicated that it was good, and that it still had a bit of work to do on getting more organized and efficient, making service faster, better directing the flow of people so they know what to do, etc. I was very forgiving at first because I went on something like the 2nd or 3rd day they were open. People hadn’t had time to get into a routine, and you expect a bit of confusion and irritability at that point. However, I returned again a couple of weeks later only to find that nothing had really changed. Staff was still a little standoffish, service was still slow, and nobody seemed to know what the heck was going on. Menus weren’t printed out or available for almost 15 full minutes after being seated, and when we got up to just order warm food at the deli, it all looked crusted over and old. I want this place to be good, because it’s extremely convenient and what I’ve eaten has been pretty good. The atmosphere is nice and the prices are pretty low, so it still has that going for it… but the staff is just killing them. I’ll probably give it one more try before it falls off my radar, but I was really expecting much better after they had been open for a couple of weeks.

First some caveats… There are a lot of places like this in London… and they are a great asset to have in a metro area. So I REALLY want this place to make it. When we went it had only been open 3 weeks. They are doing a slow opening so several sections of the place are not fully up and running. Now for some nice things to say. The inside is 5 stars. We used to go to Andiamo’s and there is no trace of that restaurant left. Its nicely decorated. Lots of wood and brick. There is a sit down bar and service restaurant. Another section for a take away buffet for grabbing already prepared food. You can grab and run or walk over to an informal eating area with cushy chairs. There are coolers full of prepared and packaged salads, fruit, sandwiches. Oh!!! they have a bunch of Freeport Bakery Cakes and pies… WOW… Then there is like a café area with bakery. Service was 5 starts. Very helpful staff. In fact they had a lot of staff there… I don’t see how they afford that for very long. Now the not so good. I had a tuscan grilled chicken sandwich with fries and my wife a spinach salad. The chicken was cooked well and hot and there was a sauce but you could not taste it. It was bland… I was hoping for some exciting new taste to go with the exciting new restaurant… Nope. Ended up putting a lot of salt and pepper on it to turn in from ok to good. The fries tasted like prefrozen mashed potato fries. I prefer cut potatoes… so they were only just ok. The salad was just ok. It had bacon but several of the bacon pieces were not really cooked and were… grisly. I have had some really great spinach salads at other places… this was just ok. So… will I go back… Yes. I think they have the potential of being a great place and like I said… Sacramento can really use a place like this.

This place has a lot of improving to do if it plans to stay in business. The menu is quite limited and the food was just OK. The time between ordering and getting our food was too long and when our food arrived we got app and entrée all at once. And to top it off one of the main courses was cold. We walked around the«market” afterward and saw a very limited supply of items. We thought about getting some dessert but they only had 3 types of cakes. a cookie, brownie or something lighter would have been nice. And to top it off it’s overpriced by about 20%. The prices need to come down or the food quality and service needs to improve dramatically.

This place is literally a waste of finely decorated space! I was so excited to eat here, practically dragged my roommate here so we see what all the fuss is about! Trust me, the place is all about the show and not much about service, quality of food, or even offering a good vibe. We walked in all excited… only to be ignored, only to be seated and not served!!! If I get water within 10 minutes I’m a happy camper. That did not happen here… not at all. Good Eats offers 4 types of dining options… dine in(we tried, we did not get served and we got up), express menu(deli counter — took several times to get noticed… or served, AGAIN), buy groceries, or even get curb side service. The point is, they’ve got too much going on, with no substance or selection. Veggie lasagna, too much unflavored spinach… not good, not horrible. Focaccia bread… stale but has potential. You could definitely tell it wasn’t made that day. My roommate got a salad… said it wasn’t that great as well. Worst service ever, mediocre food at best. Man oh man was this place FULL of disappointments.
