We were there on Friday night and was seated in 5 mins. Service was good but food quality was okay. They do have decent beers.

Was my first time today at Hoppy Brewing Company and the host was soo patient and nice! She came back and check on us constantly, thank you! The food was delicious! And the bathroom smelled nice haha I like how there was a salt and pepper shaker for those who needs extras. It’s very clean and we enjoyed the service(:

We visited the Hoppy Brewing Company because of a coupon on the Sacramento Annual Run to Feed the Hungry. We came in on Thanksgiving after the run. We came in on a short wait. This place got fairly busy after our arrival but we were helped and seated promptly with menus. Table was clean and stocked. Lauren was friendly and greeted us to take our beverage order. She was versed well in product offerings and able to answer our questions regarding the beers and appetizers on the menu. The staff was busy, beers came at a reasonable time. Food order was taken. I ordered the hoppy clause. It was a nice red colored amber. Not overly hoppy for the right amount of ibu. Not copper in taste and clean finish. We ordered one hot appetizer from the menu, fried ravioli. The appetizer came out hot in a decent time considering the volume of business. The deep fried ravioli was plenty of flavor from the cheese. A marinara sauce was offered for dipping. The ravioli was good on it’s own but sauce gave more character. Bill settlement was quick. Not bad. This restaurant is not large but can get large crowds and do a decent job.

I used to come here all the time for their late night happy hour. They had great deals for finger foods and drinks. I haven’t been here in years, and decided to come back to see what’s new. The first thing I noticed was happy hour prices CHANGED! Bummer… They used to have ½ off appetizers, but changed it to $ 1 – 2 off depending on the size. They brew their own beers and cover the spectrum of light — dark beers. My usuals: Beers: I go for their Amber or Red, or both(Ramber). Fried calamari: Tasted great with the red pepper aioli sauce on the side. Spicy BBQ wings: Maintained their crispy outer texture even after being drenched in the sauce. Jalapeño Bison Dog: Great snap and served with a soft, toasted bun. Hoppy’s has a dive bar type of feel to it and is really dim inside. The staff is also really friendly every time!

Probably the best place to get a beer during happy hour. Beers are only 4 $ a pint and pitchers are half off. Best deal in town and service is great, and they make for a very warm atmosphere. It’s better to go for a meal rather than just appetizers which are pretty average(fries nachos wings). Their sandwiches are great. But man those brews are awesome. Servers are even willing to give samples if you’re unsure. If you’re a beer person, you’ll love this place.

Stopped in day for lunch and ended up staying thru happy hour. The beer sampler contained nine three ounce beers. Seven of their normal brews and two speciality pours. Overall great beer if you like a dark hoppy pour they had one for you. My favorite was the hoppy Claus it had a great taste and wasn’t overloaded with hops. Only food I ordered were the potato skins and they weren’t anything out of this world, typically bar skins. I’d definitely try this place out if you are in the area.

My first meal of 2016 is going to be my first review of 2016! Open for brunch on New Years Day: check. Very helpful for those who wake up in need of good solid food. Brunch menu looks interesting(this is where most brunch spots fail): check. This place has more than just generic toast, potatoes, pancakes, something resembling eggs, and heavily processed and fatty pork parts. Oh, they have that for people who crave it. But they also serve real food in inventive preparations; Sweet Potato Hash with Brussel Sprouts, Chimichurri Steak Benedict, and Bison Short Ribs! Brunch actually tastes good(this is where almost all of the remaining brunch spots fail): CHECK! I ordered the Bison Short Ribs, and they were everything I’d hoped for. Sturdy yet prepared well enough to be tender, with a smoky glaze. They went very well with the eggs and hash browns. Even better… they were running their Hoppy Hour all day! Now, this review is primarily about the food. Beer is on par for your average second generation brewery. These are the breweries that began around the 90s & early 00s, way before IPAs and putting everything under the sun in beer became popular. Here you’ll find a red, blonde, black lager, cream ale, ESB, etc. You won’t find anything like an Barrel Aged Imperial Coffee Russian Stout here, although they’ve started branching out a bit with their Double IPA(quite decent) and Hoppy Claus Holiday(a bit of an overload, but supremely tasty.) That being said, these are some respectable house beers, everything is served in pints, and $ 4/pint is a really nice Hoppy Hour price to go with New Year’s brunch.(Regular is $ 6, but they also have a sampler of all 9 for $ 8, with pretty good sized samples of each! They also have a full dinner menu, with interesting specials such as Wild Boar Shank with Curried Couscous, and a full section of Whole Grain Pizza & Pasta! Looking at this and their brunch menu… it’s so nice to see a restaurant with a commitment to whole, healthy food attached to a brewery of all places & we’ll have to return in the evening to try some of those!

+Came here for lunch. +It was very busy. +I had my old stand by: Fish and Chips. +The fish was very hot and by the time it cooled, my friend was almost done with his meal. +There were three ample slices of fish. Nice and tender. +The batter was perfect. +Would come again.

I went to this place on a Saturday for some lunch. My friend had heard about it and wanted to give it a try. We both had the beer sampler, a large calamari, and sandwiches — I had the Double BLT and he had something else. So the beer was by and large terrible — they had a seasonal spicy, semi-hoppy brew that was OK, but most of their beers were either tasteless or had bad tastes, and/or very ‘watery’ in mouthfeel. My BLT was horrid — some really hard bacon, a hothouse slice of tomato, some limp lettuce, no mayo to speak of, and tasteless bread. The calamari was typical heavily fried calaramari. I suspect this company is trying to capitalize on the micro-brew revival, but I can’t imagine anyone really liking their beer when there are such excellent competitors nearby.

I’ve always been a fan of the food here. I love the french fries that come with four different dipping sauces. The sauces are so delicious. I recently branched out and tried a Hoppy Burger that was out of this world! I was pleasantly surprised. The fries were good but they weren’t the highlight of the meal. It was the burger! The burger was large, juicy, cheesy, and had outstanding flavor. My first thought was, «Where am I again? Hoppy has burgers this good?! I’ve been missing out!» I don’t know why I’ve never ordered one of their burgers before but I will again. Not to forget the great service! I came in to see if I could use a coupon that had expired a week prior. I asked the bartender if they would still honor it and they did! I was very happy. The bartender even remembered the ranch dressing with my fries. I can’t tell you how many places forget. If you’re in the mood for some delicious fries, or a tasty burger head on down to Hoppy Brewing Company. Your stomach will be hoppy you did!

Fantastic new menu… love the small plates. Always my go to place with out of town guests. Had a great dinner with a group of friends(8 of us). Every one loved the food and service. The couple that had the spaghetti with clams raved about it and I enjoyed the gumbo. The seasonal bread pudding with cinnamon ice cream was the perfect dessert. I went back today for lunch and had the Ruben sandwich and Amber Ale… perfect combination.

If you serve drinks, you should have a protocol for getting patrons a cab. To send people out on the street who request this service is dangerous to the community and unethical. On our first visit to Hoppy Brewing Company I immediately got attitude from the hostess, but I dismissed it. Later, during our meal, she walks by and tosses her arms up because the elderly lady she was seating did not walk fast enough(now I am pissed). Our waiter was alright, but when we asked him to help us get a cab(phone troubles), he punted the task and told us to ask the hostess who I saw argue with him, toss up her arms and literally hide when we were getting up to leave! They did not know our situation, we could have been too drunk to drive or in medical need. Going home, we walked about an hour through sad little neighborhoods after dark. Luckily, our neighborhood bar was on the way, so we sat, rested and enjoyed a good beer before trekking the rest of the way home.

Visited while we were in Sacramento visiting family for the weekend. Weary and desperate for food and beer, we chose suboptimally. This place is dingy and boring. The beer was mediocre. The food was awful. I know we will not visit again.

Service was great. Food was great. Beer was even better. Hoppy Brewing has some solid beers and a good menu. I recommend asking for the red and Amber ales mixed half and half– so good! The bartender suggested it and I’m glad I ordered it.

Maybe its the change in how I’ve been eating or my focus on healthier foods but I was not impressed with lunch today. I have been to Hoppy Brewery quite a few times over the past several years and always enjoyed the food. This time was not that great, service and the drinks were excellent but the food disappointed my girlfriend and I. I ordered the bison sliders which were quite over cooked but seasoned decently and my gf had the prawn tacos overall average at best. The beer, wine and cider selection is excellent so go and enjoy some cocktails during happy hour! Every one needs a well priced tasty drink on a Monday!

My nephew and his wife came from out of town for a quick«passing through» visit. It happened to be a Monday, so we decided to all meet someplace for a late lunch. We had a few places in mind to dine at along Folsom Blvd., but apparently they were closed on Mondays, until my brother-in-law recommended the Hoppy Brewing Company. We arrived in the parking lot and found the outdoor patio area located in front of the restaurant as a perfect place for us to hang out, since it was a beautiful day outside and we also had a young dog to keep an eye on. Our waiter Nick came out with menus and took our drink orders. I think he was a bit disappointed that no one ordered any beer which they are noted for, except for my brother-in-law. Anyway, we all chose different items from the menu and hoped to wash it down with some root beer, but they didn’t serve this. I was impressed at the delicious looking and unique menu selections offered. I got the special of the day, which was a grilled Portabella mushroom in a Balsamic marinade, red onion, goat cheese, tomato, basil, greens & ciabatta bread. A salad was included topped with Balsalmic vinaigrette. The rest of our party had either a cheeseburger, Rueben sandwich, Tilapia tacos, salmon spaghetti, prime rib sandwich and a Bison meatball sandwich. We all had a nice time eating out on the patio and enjoying our food. Everyone liked their meals with no complaints. My only disappointment was that my Grilled Portabella was somewhat small and I was still hungry afterward. Since I don’t drink beer nor had the opportunity to go inside the restaurant itself, I have to limit this review to the food and service outdoors which was quite satisfactory. I was happy to see that they serve meat, fish and vegetarian options which accommodated all of our preferences. I hope to return here again and try out some of their other dishes that I have my eye on!

I came to Hoppy Brewing Co. on a Monday with a friend for all day Happy Hour because what’s not to love about ALLDAY Happy Hour? Not much. I was surprised it being a holiday Monday how dead it was inside. There were 2 – 3 tables filled in the massive space, and a few people sitting at the bar. The inside was quiet and lacking excitement so ambiance was slightly lacking. Our server at the bar was great, very nice and attentive. I don’t like beer(only sour/lambic types) so I was looking for a bigger beer selection but all they had was what they brewed. Bummer. Luckily they also had some cocktails which were included on their Happy Hour menu so I ordered an Irish Coffee and a Prickly Pear Cocktail. Both were good and well made. My friend had one of their beers which she thought was OK. We also ordered their Loaded Fries which were actually super good! The fries were fresh and came with green onions, hot sauce, cheese, bacon and a few different dipping sauces. I really liked these. Yummy! There is a nice patio out front and a decent sized parking lot. The inside is spacious as well and great for large groups. I may come back here again when in the area for another Happy Hour but thought their beer selection was lacking. Food was great though. A solid 3.5 stars.

THISRATINGISBASEDONTHEBEER. Love to check out the local breweries and this place had been on the list for months. Kept driving by it, but not having the time. Finally got in there this last week but ended up pretty disappointed. We were there to try the beer, not really for the food but we ordered the onion rings & some regular wings just for the heck of it. We each got a beer sampler and it was only $ 8. We were pretty impressed with the price, until we tried the beer. Now I get, that like wine, beer is a lot about preference. So I will say my beer preference is a Double IPA or a solid IPA. I like it hoppy with notes of citrus. But I can enjoy a little bit of everything if it’s good and I honestly think this beer is just not good. My husband loves imperial stouts, and he was not a fan of anything we tried either. The beer seemed watered down, and bitter in places it shouldn’t have been. The flavor on some were just nasty. With that said the onion rings were really good. The wings were alright. We had no complaints on the service. The location was a little out of the way and it’s a bummer when your sitting outside you still have all that traffic right there, but not a bad vibe overall. Truly this rating is just based on the beer, and I would love to say it was different but we really felt beyond disappointed in what these guys had to offer. This was the first time I genuinely couldn’t finish some of the samplers. Which when do you ever want to not finish a beer. Anyways wish this could be more positive but sadly that was my experience.

I generally don’t review a place I have only been one time. However, we ordered a 9 beer sampler and chicken wings, a chinese chicken salad, a bison dog, fries with all the sauces, and a side of bacon. A fair amount of items, so I feel comfortable sharing my opinion. The point is I’m simply not motivated to return. Out of all nine beers we only really liked maybe three of them, and we drink a lot of beer. For a place called Hoppy Brewing, having only one remotely hoppy beer was disappointing. We love IPAs, and the beer that was classified as one here was an APA at best. Not to mention the Four Fumes, made with four smoked malts, that might be the most unappealing beer I’ve ever drank. It’s cool to experiment and try new things with your brewing, but maybe don’t serve all of the experiments to the public. The food was mediocre. It wasn’t gross but none of it was anything I’ve thought about since. The super hot wing sauce wasn’t all that hot. The bacon was good though, and it was cool that the fries came with four sauces without me even having to ask for them! Love sauce. Everything sounded amazing while reading the menu, just didn’t really pay off in the end. The place was decently busy for lunch on a Monday, and the fact that they offer different sizes on all appetizers and salads is awesome. I’m just not sure when or if I will be back.

The décor is dark and rustic… cherry wood pub tables and ladder back counter height rung chairs. Over my shoulder, in a corner, I observed soft seating in front of an absurdly large flat screen TV. And wouldn’t you know it… yup there are TVs hanging everywhere. Shit… this place is A man’s dream. With that said if you are looking for a romantic conversation with your date… uhh…It’s NOT going to happen here. I feel like I’m in a «man cave» of a room kinda sorta in a wired way. AMBIANCE The provocative polished black granite bar seems to have way too many ladder back stools squished together along it. And the back wall of this pubaurant isn’t really a wall. It’s an enormous floor to ceiling window so one can curiously gaze upon the steel tanks of the microbrewery. Nada sweet feminine touch in site. Even the girls RR has lucite newspaper racks attached to he walls in the stalls… The food: I usually come here for the soups. I think they are sublime. My favorites are the potato and broccoli cheese. And they are served with a fresh bread basket which is a nice touch. I believe Hoppy has the best crispy steak nachos in Sacramento. They are topped with big chunks of Applewood smoked bacon… and are quite scrumptious. Hoppy Clause winter brew: It’s a bit sweet to the pallet and has a gorgeous red hue. With a finish reminiscent of a piece of holiday pumpkin spice bread… not sure if I’m tasting cinnamon or allspice… who knows & who cares… it’s both unique and delicious and that’s all that matters. I love Hoppy’s winter brew and I think you should try it too. it’s only here for a short time as they run out quick… Salud!
