I equate Italian food with Italian heritage. Abundance. You FEED your guests and strangers too. I understand saving money by using the domestic rather than Parma, but seriously, ONE transparent slice of prosciutto on my hoagie? One? Why put it on the slicer. Told me all I needed to know.

Came here for one thing, my everlasting search for the perfect Cannoli and ladies and gentlemen. ITWASHERE!!! Presentation: Simple and timeless, just a little powdered sugar along the top. Shell: Crisp, crunchy and perfect. Cream: So unbelievably smooth, soft, and sweet and the little chocolate chips mixed in just melt in your mouth before you can even chew them. Overall: I couldn’t believe it either. This Cannoli simply blew all the others out of the water and for a few big reasons. They simplified it and in so doing they offered to make them to order. That was what drew me to the store in the first place. I’ve been to about eight places that serve Cannoli’s in the Sacramento Area and this was the only one to fill them after you order them. Not to mention they were $ 2.50! the cheapest yet found. Sure the customer service isn’t top notch but what do expect from a bunch of old Italian guys.

Not even close to being an «Italian import company» or even an Italian deli for that matter. Sandwiches and meats are very low quality. Subway quality bread as well. Nothing was put on the sandwich that it said it came with. The chicken parm sandwich was mushy and flavorless. Strange and unfriendly men behind deli counter. Not one drop of Italian authenticity here. There is definitely no «amore» put into any part of this Italian deli. Disappointing. The prices are probably a good reflection of the quality at this dump.

If I could give this place a ZERO, I would have! Horrible place with old man at deli counter with a very bad attitude. He’s impatient and says things under his breath and shakes his head when you take too long to order… very rude and deserves a big ZERO… Save yourself a trip to this dump and the food is tasteless and not what you order or expect.

Great little import store for a nice Turron or some pesto. Very friendly and helpful staff. I hear the deli is great too, although I’ve yet to try it. I love to pop in here and grab a sparkling lemonade before work.

Walked here from work wanting something sweet. Service was great, the guy behind the counter asked if he could help me with anything and suggested I get the cannoli. Initially I ordered 1 but changed my mind and got 2 instead, good thing I did because I inhaled the first one. They make them to order so I brought them back to the office. Good thing I got 2 because these are delicious! The shell is crunchy and not soggy or stale. The filling is light and perfect sweetness and has little chocolate chips in it. They dusted it with powdered sugar too. A bit messy to eat but it was worth it. I will have to come back one day to their meatball sub.

Food was great but service was lacking any courtesy for newcomers. They seemed irritated with our lack of knowledge as to which menu we should be reading, etc. They were very talkative to their regulars but didn’t seem interested in us as newbies or hope to make us into regulars. Next time we will call ahead and take out!

Cheap and delicious! I got a meatball sandwich and it was a huge sandwich that knocked me out for $ 6.75! The marinara sauce is really good and the bread was soft, fresh and delicious. The guys are super nice and the place has a unique local feel to it. Loved it and highly recommend it!

This has got to be the best meatball sandwich around — and it’s huge! These guys place four good sized meatballs in an Italian roll with melted mozzarella cheese. Delicious! Out of all the Italian businesses here in Sacramento, this is hands down the best meatball sandwich ever! To add to that, you can get penne and sausage, with a roll and salad very cheap. Think Italian deli because that’s what it is, but the name doesn’t help. The décor is very dated, but to me, that is the charm of it. There are tables and chairs inside and out, so you can have your meal right there. And don’t let the grumpy old men that work there put you off, it’s well worth it. The food is yummy to the point of being unforgettable. It is authentic Italiano! If I want a meatball sandwich, I don’t go any where else — Italian Importing Company has it down — I’m just surprised that they don’t have a long line all the way outside of their store, it’s THATGOOD!

Nice old school Italian deli, reminds me of an east coast spot. Got the Italian Club Panini — very good!

Love the sandwiches here. The meatball is bomb and you pretty much can’t go wrong with any sandwich. Two grumpy old dudes working the deli counter. If you don’t know what you want, then«NOSOUPFORYOU!». I saw the cashier come back to help out but merely grabbed a towel that was sitting on the deli counter and just wiped his hands. This after handling money all day. Again I love this place but be aware. This will not keep me from coming back. I actually have fun with the grumpy guys!

East Coast attitudes for sure, but that helps make it what it is. Great, authentic food for decades. Can’t believe more people haven’t Unilocaled this deli and market. I’ve tried a few sandwiches over the years from here, and this one is my #fav. Check ‘em out and you’ll understand.

One of my favorite places to grab a sandwich. Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best with their roast turkey/cranberry and veal specials. All the other sandwiches I’ve had are great and so are the pasta dishes. Easy, quick, convenient and reminds me of that old school Italian joint. Definitely worth visiting and probably should be on diners, drive ins and dives even though Guy Fierri(however that’s spelled) is a bleached douche. Italian imports on the other hand is awesome.

Owner decided to take issue with a request for proper food handling. His attitude is not acceptable anytime anyplace. Beings that I’m a paying customer, I think his disgruntled opinion should have been displayed when I wasn’t around. I guess this establishment can stand the negative Unilocaling. Way to go, owner.

Fantastic, old school Italian market and deli. What a gem! Imported Italian goods — pastas, gnocchi, cookies, canned goods, wine, kitchen tools, etc. There’s an old school deli counter and sandwiches made to order. Haven’t tried their sandwiches, but im pretty excited about the market. I got some great pasta and cookies. I plan on coming back for the wine selection too. Glad to have discovered it. :D

It’s a store and a deli. of the Italian kind. And the name, it’s very broad. I wouldn’t think to go and get a sandwich at a place called Italian Importing Company. They’ve got indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating clued me in to this place having food. Toward the back of the store is the deli counter. They’ve got cold food available to purchase, deli meats, sandwiches made to order. And that’s what I wanted, a sandwich. The guy at the deli counter– He’s rough around the edges. Take no offense. He’s gonna do his job and you’re gonna get what you asked for and bada-bing. let’s move on. They have sandwiches small and large and then they have certain sandwiches special assigned to certain days. I had to see what’s up with their Meatball Sandwich($ 6.50). It’s one of their regular menu items. And, it was pretty good. Not the best I’ve ever had but it’s definitely a good Meatball Sandwich, IMO. I was also pleasantly surprised to find they have Liverwurst. If you’re interested in this as well, I recommend getting it on a roll. I’ve had it on sliced bread and it was too much liverwurst to bread ratio. Now I know– Roll. I didn’t really go through the store or check out the shelves. It was all about the deli for me. When you’re done you take your item(s) to the cashier towards the front of the store for purchase. Street Parking.

I had lunch here for the first time in over a decade last Friday. The sandwiches are just as yummy as I remember. This is a no-nonsense place that serves up delicious good olé fashion deli sandwiches. Price of a sandwich averages $ 5. The sandwiches are made to order. The deli menu also includes hot pastas and hot sandwiches. The place also has a small selection of grocery food items and knick knacks from Italy. The guys that work the deli counter are nice, at least they were to me. However, the fella manning the till wasn’t friendly but he wasn’t rude either. The place even has tables and chairs where you can eat in.

Where else in downtown are you going to get a good sandwich for under $ 5? I mean really. This place is great. I get the chicken or turkey sandwich with cheese and it’s around $ 5. I get the small and there is nothing small about it. The guys that run the place are always nice. It’s never ‘crowded’ but you’re never the only person there at lunch time. They’re ingredients taste fresh and they make it right in front of you, I was just lucky enough to have a coworker show it to me.
