I would have liked to have tried this restaurant but the employees completely disregarded my presence as I stood at the register and waited to order. I walked in to place a large togo order for the convention center staff. There were 4 workers congregated at the front register. I said hello and they didn’t even look up. I waited for a few minutes as they talked about their tips– not even acknowledging the fact that I was standing 2 feet in front of them. No «I’ll be right with you», not even a hello back when I greeted them. I was literally at arms length and they acted like I wasn’t even there for long enough for me to feel really awkward After a few minutes of feeling invisible, I walked out and took a Lyft to another restaurant. So rude. At least say hi, smile or give any recognition to a customer waiting to order and spend a lot of money at your restaurant I won’t ever be back

Honestly food is disgusting. I rather eat panda express than here. Service is okay. It’s overpriced. If you eat the real authentic Chinese food, this place is not the place to go. I don’t normally rate places lower than 3 stars but this place is just not good. We ordered at the cash register and sat down at a table. My friend and I ordered the crab filled fried dumpling and the beef& broccoli with brown rice. The dumplings was okay. The beef&broccli was disgusting. It tasted like there was medicine in there. Idk if anyone ever had those Asian herbs but that’s what it tastes like. Idk why they added that in there. I thought it would be good but that was my mistake. I won’t be back here.

Not worth it at all. We ordered Thai noodles which were way over cooked and so either noodle dish that was seriously lacking in any flavor let alone Asian flavor. Lettuce wraps were good.

The food reminds me of Panda Express but at a higher price point. I come here for the convenient location to my job. I utilize the call in ordering and pickup. To pick up orders you don’t have to wait in the main line. There is a designated line and cashier for call in orders, which saves a ton of time for me. Otherwise, stand in line to order and pay. For dine ins, they will give you a table number and will deliver you your food. For take outs, they ask for your name. You awkwardly stand around or sit wherever there is space near the cashier until they call out your name. The food is passable good, not great. You may have to doctor up the flavor levels yourselves. The staff overall are sweethearts. Tidbits: **Mongolian tofu: they use silky tofu that is lightly battered and fried. **Thai iced tea is pre made in pitchers. They usually run out early in the lunch service. **Sirachi and hot chili oil are on the counter by the soda machine. So is bowl of fortune cookies. Help yourself. It’s also self serve if you want to help yourself to some of the condiments to go. **Soy sauce packets are pre packed in the to go orders with utensils, napkin, and a fortune cookie. **They have indoor dining and an outdoor dining area. The chairs are all backless. **Street parking only. **The restrooms are in Cafeteria 15L restaurant. There is a connecting hallway. **Nice clean chic modern designed ointerior.

I think Ma Jongs sometimes gets overlooked as a great food option, because it’s connects the«the park» trio of businesses. They may not serve authentic Chinese food, but it’s still very satisfying and it’s esthetically pleasing inside as well. It’s a casual modern dinning spot. You order at the counter and service yourself at the soda fountain while you wait for your food to be brought out. On our latest visit we really enjoyed the beef chow fun noodles and the lettuce cups with chicken. I mean it was really tasty ! Better then what I had at a more upscale Asian dinner and for nearly half the price ! At night, after 9, it gets entertaining. They dim the lights in the dinning area and because it’s connected the the park nightclub, you get to listen to awfully old but standard«dance«music while you eat. Be prepared with your id. You need it to go to the bathrooms. And then be aware you might get caught in random bathroom selfies with happy drunk females dressed in barely there spandex. Enjoy !

This is my go-to lunch spot. Get here a little earlier if you want to beat the lunch crowd because it gets packed. I’m a creature of habit and always order the same dish which is the chicken teriyaki over noodles. It is so good! One of these days I’ll step out of my comfort zone and try something else

Oooooh ma jongs… Been here several times on drunken nights with friends. How your greasy Chinese food pleases every drunk person in the restaurant. This place is a go to after late night clubbing in downtown Sacramento. This place satisfies your greasy craving and if you’re already clubbing at the park you can walk right into this restaurant from there and order your food and wait at a table while the waiter brings your order to you. I’ve ordered many different things on the menu and have shared it with friends. The ambiance I must say is loud, but that is because it is literally connected to The Park, a popular club in Sacramento. The food is good for the most part. I really liked their spicy Thai wings. The annoying thing about this place is the fact that you have to give your ID to the bouncer to use the restroom. Once you’re done you can re-enter the restaurant and get your ID back. Thought that was kind of silly the first time I did that. Anyway I would say 3 stars. Food isn’t bad and this is a place that you can go to after clubbing and sober up.

Food is amazing here i normally get the Eggplant chicken since i’m a fan of veggies but now found a new favorite the spicy chow main its delicious the noodles are not dry but moist and the flavor of the dish is spicy and seasoned to perfection, basically you dont want to put the chopsticks down. Service is really great everyone is really nice and very curious no matter who the server is always have a good personality. Have been coming here for a while and will continue to visit :)

Decent fast-service Asian food. Basically a reasonably priced fast sauce/meat/noodle house. The padthai is yummy and the fried tofu is always freshly crisp. Last time my husband had the kungpao tofu, which was yummy. I’ve been here only a few times and it’s been pretty consistent each time. The environment is like an open cafeteria or food court, you pay for your meal which is brought out to you later, so it’s good if you have a group of stragglers. One work of caution — our veggie spring rolls came with shrimp… not cool if you’re a vegetarian,

Excellent selection of Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai food. It’s American Asian but that’s OK because it’s good. A little bit of everything here. Very clean establishment, very friendly staff. Only negative is that the portions are a little small. A go to lunch spot when I’m downtown.

My friend wanted to come here, I just went with it. The place is cool, trendy and casual. Service is great. The food, not so much. Prices were not bad. Spicy chicken bowl, was sweet and mild hint of spiciness. Ma’s eggplant was bland, mostly just smothered in sweet sauce. Portion wasn’t big, but I didn’t care to eat much of it. I’d come back only if my friends wanted to, or last resort lol

Super good, super fast Chinese food. Great quality and delicious. A small group of us went here around 8pm on a Friday night– no line, not crazy busy like most other downtown hotspots. We ordered several plates and ate«family style.» The coconut shrimp was AMAZING! And surprisingly I loved the green bean plate too! Fried rice was pretty good with big chunks of chicken(bonus!). Overall, we ordered too much food and ended up taking a left overs home. Good food, great friends, a perfect night!

Just not very good. The Vietnamese Phở is just BAD, my friend is Vietnamese and he said«it looked nothing like Phở» and it simply tasted horrible. The crab rangoon is made with real crab, I know this because the crab was old and had a «fishy» taste to it.

Most recent visit here was very enjoyable. Quiet, quick, pleasant environment. Reasonable dining fare and delicious. Had the Spicy Shanghai chow mien. Really can’t go wrong as it was hot and filling after just half a plate. 4 stars for Ma Jongs.

I’ll give it a 3.5 rating. Love the interior and atmosphere! :) It is gorgeously set up and ambient; the lighting is romantic and dim. The music from The Park is also simultaenously being played which adds a hip vibe to the restaurant. The service is reasonable and the food is good as well. It’s a great place for a late night hangout/dining, although it’s been quite dead the last few times I went which is surprising given that I went on weekend nights. A con is that sometimes the cigarette smoke from the club/lounge seeps over due to the side door that patrons typically use to come through for dining, bathroom, etc. :( Nonetheless, it’s still a nice place to come for late night dining/hanging out with friends or a date.

Long over due review, we came here back in February after a event at the Sacramento convention center, we were just looking for a place to have lunch at and I stumbled on to this place and Unilocal,so we decided to pop on in and check it out. Upon walking it up to the restaurant they have a rickshaw décor as one of their sign which is pretty cool. Walking in the restaurant is Asian inspired décor is nice and bright, which makes the place very inviting. They have high ceilings and concrete floors here, so when there’s a lot of people dining in it tend to be on the loud side. You grab a menu and walk up to the counter and p[lace a order there with the friendly cashier with the big smile. He was über nice and helped us with any question you has with the menu. There’s also a outdoor patio if you want a more quiet place. We had ordered Asian lettuce wraps to share as a appetizer, hubs ordered Lemon Chicken with rice and I ordered the Honey walnut shrimp with noodles for our main course. Yes you can sub rice for noodles instead for $ 1 more. He handed us our order number to be put at our table so they know where to bring the food to… He also gave is our glasses for our drinks. We pick a spot and sat down, out came our Asian lettuce wraps first and they were delicious! Lots of flavors and textures were great. A carb free dish is that’s what your aiming for. Then our mains came out Lemon Chicken with rice for hub and the Honey walnut shrimp with noodles for me. Everything was great but i guess i should’ve stuck with the rice instead of the noodles, cause the noodles didn’t pair well as i thought it would with the noodles. I’m a saucy kinda gal and there wasn’t enough for the noodles. Overall we had a great time here and the bathrooms are very trippy in a sense. Friendly staff, clean and open environment. Definitely recommend this place if your ever at the convention center around the corner and look for a place to eat.

Ma Jong’s has been around a while which is a long time for a Midtown restaurant. The modern Asian décor is inviting, however the restaurant has rather high ceilings and concrete floors which makes it very loud. For the most part, I only get take out orders here so the interior is not a big deal. They have a nice outdoor patio which is much quieter while you wait for the waiter to deliver the counter-ordered food. I have tried most of the dishes here. Mongolian beef is far and away my favorite here — tender beef in a sweet garlic sauce with fluffy white rice is always a nice treat. Most of the other dishes miss the mark, but are decent enough for a quick lunch. They allow you to add any meat to any dish and use brown and white rice. Still, the place is very popular and easily gets packed around peak lunch time. At night, the place turns more into a night club, but having some pot stickers with your drink of choice is always a nice option. They also offer delivery and curbside take out options which really help. I am here a lot, but usually only for the Mongolian beef. Everything else is just average.

On Saturday, 3÷14÷15, my girlfriend and I ate at Ma Jong’s Asian Diner for lunch. We’ve been eating at Ma Jong’s since 2012 so this review is way over due. Atmosphere/Décor: Ma Jong’s has a nice open floor plan. It’s very spacious inside. There are tables with chairs and the tables against the wall are equipped with a hybrid type of booth seat. Ma Jong’s is good for any occasion and big enough for large groups. Food: My girlfriend and I always order the Chicken Teriyaki with Noodles and the Mongolian Beef with white rice. Booth of these dishes are very delicious and tasty. They use all white meat breast chicken which I prefer. The chicken is never dry. It’s really tender and flavorful. The teriyaki sauce is always on point and tastes really good. We really like the noodles in this dish. The noodles were thick and cooked perfectly. The Mongolian Beef is delicious as well. The beef is very tender but at the same time has a nice crispy texture around the edges. The flavor of the beef was really good. The white rice tasted very fresh. Service: The guy that took our order at the front register was really nice. He had a positive attitude. He came over and asked us if the food was to our liking. Service was great. Overall: Ma Jong’s is a really good Asian food restaurant. We’ve never had a bad experience at Ma Jong’s. The food is always spot on and tastes great. You definitely get the bang for your buck. I’d highly recommend Ma Jong’s.

Close to the convention center for an easy quick lunch Efficient — pick up menu when you walk in, order at counter and food is brought to the table. Not the usual overly large dish selection you get from most Asian restaurants. A simple two page menu with the favorites, starting at $ 7.95 to $ 11. Portion was good for lunch size but quite a bit of rice. Everything was served nice and hot. I enjoyed the flavors. Large inside seating area or great park like outdoor seating.
