Asked for 2 gyros no onions and a Carmel cake. Got 2 gyros with onions and stiff meat and a stale Carmel cake with mold on it… My stomach is turned… This place is already overpriced, but this is simple. I pay you money and you get me clean food… You had 1 job to do. They offered a refund, it is reward enough to never set foot in this place again. Clearly that cake had been in the case a LOOOOOOOONG time. I am extremely irritated, but I kept my voice calm and left, they messed me over but that is what reviews are for. Extremely ironic they encourage everyone to check into Unilocal

First time I came here with my husband we had the best sandwich I’ve had in a long time, brisket sandwich made by the owner himself. But that was 2 months ago… Today though, totally different story. I went to Roxie thinking to treat myself to lunch, and ordered a Roxie House Special. When I got back to work to eat my lunch, a coworker said another person from our office had ordered the same exact sandwich and it totally lacked meat. I was shocked bc I paid close to $ 8 for it, and expected a good sandwich worth that price. I unwrapped my sandwich, and sure enough, I think there were only 2 slices each of turkey and pastrami and some cheese, to go with the produce on the sandwich. Totally disappointed and will not go back to this place. Too bad bc it’s totally convenient to work also.

Don’t struggle with the menu. Just wait for anyone behind the counter to greet you… or if you’re the assertive type, approach one of the staff on your own, and ask for a suggestion. Then trust the suggestion. Whatever you get will be awesome. That is all.

Meatloaf sandwich. That’s all I need to say. The staff here were super friendly, and the food was just as amazing. I would go in with a good appetite, and be ready to chow down on some serious portions. The sandwich was filled with everything and small, and I could barely finish it. Run, do not walk. to Roxie.

This one’s tough because one thing rocks and the other stuff is so so. #1) The rib plate is AWESOME(good bark and meaty). The spicy bbq sauce is tasty. #2) The selection of sides is rather bland and basic. Most are just starch fillers. I wish they were more into Texas or Southern sides, like grilled corn, spicy beans, greens, cornbread, fried okra, etc. #3) Sadly, the brisket is rather bland the two times I’ve tried it – requires sauce. #4) The sandwiches are all big and generous, but purely artery cloggers. The gyros are okay. I haven’t tried the ti-tip or any of the salads. I see they have piroshki, but they look frozen, so I’ll pass.

Well, I’d hardly describe this place as ‘kid friendly’. When we asked about the kid-friendly items as instructed by the menu, the guy at the register pointed out the kids party tray items and shrugged indifferently. It’s probably fine if you have kids who are a bit older, but mine is young enough that she’s not going to eat an adult sized sandwich. So, next door to Dos Coyotes we went.

The new location is solid. Friendly service with amazing sandwiches. There is something for everyone, and their Veggie Sando with Falafel is absolutely the King of Sandwiches. The line moves quickly and the beer selection is complete with cheap stuff, unique stuff and local stuff. Solo or with friends, you’re good to go when sandwiches are in need.

If you love the original Roxies, then you wont be disappointed here. Food is just as excellent. And better seating! Smoked meatloaf, meatball, and loaded peroshki is my all time favorites here — meaty, juicy, flavorful. The smallest junior size is a regular size sandwich, so be prepared for leftovers if ordering anything larger. Wish there was more side dishes like the original location, some lighter sides would be great since the main items are pretty heavy. Cant eat just sandwiches and chips more than 1x month or ill have to buy new pants. HEYROXIE! Put paper dispensers on the tables, you know it will get messy! A plate or tray wont hurt either, it’ll be easier to clear our own tables. Keep up the great food!!!

The new downtown location for Roxie Deli & Barbecue is just as good as the original, albeit for different reasons. What’s really important at a sandwich joint is what you end up sticking in your mouth. When it comes to the science of the sammy, Roxie is most definitely on top of their game. I’m incredibly thankful that the brisket sandwich, which seemed to be only a one-day-a-week special at the original location, is now pretty much a daily menu item. This holy combination of juicy shaved brisket, barbecue sauce, cheese and jalapenos on a ciabatta roll will thrill even the most picky sandwich lover. I rarely deviate from my favorite, but the pulled pork is another popular option that is sure to please. Now to those differences I mentioned. On the plus side, the new Roxie is just that, new, so everything is spick and span. It’s spacious inside with a nice little patio. On the downside, that large new space takes away from some of the charm of the original, which has a small corner-store feel and more personable characters yelling out orders to one another and the customers from behind the counter. Either way and at either location, you’re bound to be satisfied. What they can mage to do with two pieces of bread and some toppings will always have me coming back.

Went in on a friday evening. Not crowded at all. For $ 10.99 i got the brisket plate that comes with two sides. The pesto salad was good and creamy. The potato salad was solid, nothing fancy. Both tasted house made, not prepackaged out of a tub. I was really impressed with the generous amount of meat and nice sized portions of sides. Excellent value. Roxie’s was not stingy with the food, unlike most bbq joints in Sacramento area. The brisket was nice and tender but was missing the smokiness i was looking for. I got the spicy bbq sauce which was given on the side. It had some heat to it but too spicy. The regular bbq sauce was sweet, not bad. I will be back again for more bbq. If you’re really hungry this is the spot for bbq.

Ambience: very casual, with standard 4 chair tables. Sort of an industrial feel to it. Service: friendly staff. The made the food relatively quickly. Good: very good sandwiches. I had the corned beef special, and it was yummy. Very mustardy, with a delicious pumpernickel bread. Overall, I was very impressed. I will definitely be coming back.

I love Roxie’s and I was incredibly stoked to hear they opened a second location downtown. I went to Roxie’s on C Street because they have the best meatball sandwich EVER. Meatball Mafia. Even the name, I love. This place is on 15th and R behind European Wax Center. It’s bigger. You can sit and eat. They have TVs. a freestyle Coke machine. beer, beer on tap, wine. They offer the same goods and yes, Brisket Day is Thursday here, too.(and so is Friday). But, in addition to the regular Roxie Deli menu. here, they’ve added gyros, falafels, tamales, peroshkis. By the register, you can spy the cold case of sides. They’ve got specials– like the other day they had Fried Pickles. I wasn’t a fan of those. They were pickle chips and I like Fried Pickles to be pickle spears. Vegan options are available with some tweaks. Like the Veggie Sandwich omitting the cheese or the Falafel Pita no cheese. I’m not sure about all the breads though. Double check that. I’ve also seen dolmas in the cold case before(but not every time.) Open 7 days a week. They also offer breakfast! BBQ Schedule: Monday– Tri-Tip Tuesday– Pulled Pork Wednesday– Ribs Thursday– Brisket Friday– Brisket EVERYDAY– Smoked Meatloaf & Smoked Chicken

YASSS!!! I am a regular diner at the east Sacramento Roxie deli… we drive out there regularly because they truly have the best sandwiches in the greater Sacramento area. I never particularly loved the atmosphere, but put up with it because the sandwiches were so delicious… this new location is the perfect storm! Same amazing sandwiches, way better location/atmosphere, so spacious and clean, DRAFTBEER, SUNDAYBRUNCH, and same great customer service. I think I’ve died and gone to sandwich heaven. I highly recommend for regular Roxie diners and newbies… you will not be disappointed.

Little private parking lot on the R Street district. The shop is a good compliment to it’s first location. I am a fan of the main shop store off of C street. Just way far out is the other location. Staff was friendly and ready to assist. Sandwiches are made. Plenty of choices. Daily hot meats. The sandwiches are toasted and stay warm for some good time. Ordered the Roxie house and brisket. Well stuffed with meats and sides. Plenty of flavor. More than enough to eat with regular size Good: filled delicious flavorful sandwiches. These sandwiches stayed hot several hours later. Free parking. Bad: nothing. I’ve been to this location twice. For it’s convenience I would definitely return.

First off, the price. Ouch. Today, I walked out with a junior-size(that’s the smallest) specialty sandwich and house chips for a total of over $ 11(that’s without a drink, mind you). For that price, I can pick a nearby restaurant and get table service. Understandably, a lot of restaurants take pictures of their food in order to advertise the options, and those pictures almost always look better than what you end up getting. But, Roxie takes this to another level. I’ve included the stock photo, and the actual photo(after I took a bite, sorry) of their Roxie House. To charge me over $ 7 for a junior-size sandwich and include as little meat as they did is just really disappointing, especially for a brand new place. Roxie picked a location in what is becoming a very crowded lunch/bar area, with new choices popping up all of the time. Based on my two experiences thus far, my hopes are not sky-high for Roxie, but I do hope it becomes decent in time. Truth be told, I’m not comfortable with the 2-star rating, but 1 ½ is not an option.

Finally a new lunch spot on 15th and R Street .so worth it standing in that long line. i ordered Friday’s special, the Brisket on ciabatta bread with all the fixins. Free chips and soda were included with your purchase(only offered during grand opening).I enjoyed every bite, the brisket was tender with a touch of smoked flavor .Dos Coyotes will soon open as well.

With this location opening up just a few blocks away from my work I instantly gained 5lbs and took months off my life. So much for first day kinks. This place runs as smoothly as their East Sac location. If you ever have issues deciding on what to order tell the chef to make you whatever he wants. I’ve done this several times and have never been disappointed. The new location is also offering beer on tap and gyros. Roxies is just one of many new spots that’s helping bring life to R street.

I tried the pulled pork and my sister tried the house sandwich. They were ok, probably won’t go here again even though it’s across the street from my work. There was nothing special about it. The regular sandwich is around $ 10, without any sides or drink. I dunno, it just seems like so many other amazing sandwich places in the area(Dad’s, Sandwich Spot, Togo’s, and even Safeway) offer WAY better deals for your meal. It was good, but $ 26 for a lunch for two with just two sandwiches and drinks hit my pocket book harder than it satisfied my appetite.
