Steven Wong, DDS

I reviewed many of the summaries here to determine if Dr Wong was a viable option and contrary to what has been stated above I found the staff to be very friendly.
I walked in mortified as the office is very small and not high tech like other offices I have been to (hence the 4 stars) but I was in and out in 40 min for an extraction having no insurance and paying $ 250 for a complicated extraction. Normally the price is 150 but mine required a more complex procedure which I totally agreed with.
Dr Wong himself is incredibly energetic and very friendly. His staff mirrors the behavior and he engages in entertaining conversation throughout the process. So much so that it probably made
The time go by faster and limited my dwelling on the procedure. Which I hate. Not that it was done bad but rather I have a fear of dentists so before I knew it I was out of the door.
For adults looking to get an extraction done asap with zero insurance I know of no better place in Sacramento. In and out fast but don’t expect luxury treatment, this is a high turnover facility. O recommend this business

I’ve been going to Dr. Wong for a very long time. He is a great dentist with a great attitude and awesome sense of humor. He is all about his patients over profit and not only does a good a through job, but has fun doing it too.

Hate going to the dentist and it had been about 5 years since I’ve seen a dentist. Dr. Wong made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. He has a very friendly manner and definitely doesn’t try to make you pay for things you don’t need. I even made my appointment to go see him again in 6 months.

Dr. Wong is the happiest dentist I’ve ever seen. He seems to make the stressed environment gone away. The only reason why I don’t give a five stars is because of the waiting time but waiting for 2.5 hours without any appointment is acceptable so I would defenietly come back.

No … Seriously no exaggeration. I went to see Dr. Wong after driving down the road and experiencing tooth pain. I was hesitant about seeing a new dr but soon after arriving his office receptionist made me feel comfortable in the waiting area. The new patient paperwork wasn’t a large stack of papers like some offices. Once I was taken in the back for X-​rays Dr Wong came in smiling and concerned with my pain. He checked oh my mouth and comically diagnosed me and said he could take care of it right then. The whole appointment had me in and out in less than an hour with no more pain, no anxiety attacks and the hope to come back and get some follow up work done.

Honest, funny, experienced, Dr. Wong is a gem! He put me at ease with his friendly attitude. I was especially appreciative that he didn’t try to talk me into expensive dentistry that I didn’t need, just to make a profit. I wish other dentists operated in that way!
I recommend Dr. Wong to everyone who wants a quality dentist who they can trust.

Dr. Wong is a fantastic dentist. He is extremely competent, and pays attention to detail. One really gets a sense from him that he truly cares about the quality of his work, and the results he provides for his patients. Add to that, he makes the environment really friendly and comfortable, which is important for what is a stressful experience to most people. Finally, he is very reasonable in terms of costs. Do not be fooled by some other providers with large fancy offices full of high tech equipment, who pass those costs on to you with substandard customer service and high fees. I would recommend Dr. Wong highly and without reservation for all your dental needs.

My previous experience at a «fancy» dental office did not go too well because I had a funny feeling in my stomach the dentist was trying to gouge me for a ton of unneeded services.
For my next dental visit, I decided to filter on Unilocal «the most reviewed» dentist in the Sacramento area. Steven Wong, with a grand total of 63 reviews, happen to be the top search result.
My first visit with Dr. Steven Wong was a very pleasant experience. He has a very good sense of humor, but most importantly, he comes across as a genuine person that truly cares about the health of his patients. He did not attempt to gouge me for unneeded services and I left the dentist feeling good about myself.
Is there anything he could’ve done better? Maybe slab a fresh set of paint on his cupboards. :)
My wife just received dental insurance from her workplace, and I will highly encourage her to visit Dr. Steven Wong.

Afraid of the dentist? Ashamed that you’ve «let your teeth go» too long? Concerned about the cost because you don’t have dental insurance? I was all three of these things. Now I am fine, thanks to Dr. Wong and his staff. A visit to his office helped restore my faith in humanity.
ps – If you’re a quiet introvert like me, DON’T be put off by the references to Dr. Wong’s chatter and singing. He does keep up the patter, but I swear it’s not annoying. In fact, it’s rather pleasant. Pretty neat trick :)

What can I say, Dr. Wong and his staff have changed my perspective about going to the dentist. Was in some pain due to not having my wisdom teeth removed when I was younger, I must have called 10 different offices when I finally contacted Dr. Wongs office. Not only were they extremely nice on the phone they also took into consideration I was in pain and made an appointment available within a week! Dr. Wong and his staff were very professional and I could tell he really cared for his patients. He was able to extract my wisdom teeth, at this moment I can happily say im healing up nicely and am in no pain once so ever! The process took a matter of mintues and was painless, Dr. Wong has a gentle touch and makes it very clear to let him know if you feel any pain. I don’t have dental insurance but that wasnt a problem because his prices are very very reasonable. I have found my life long dentist! THANK YOU DR. WONG AND STAFF!

Best dentist I have ever seen. Excellent care makes you feel totally at ease l. Never scolds you about bad hygiene. Would definitely refer friends and family

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Wong for 6 years now. He is by far the best dentist we have ever had. He has a wonderful sense of humor and he is always pleasant as he makes you feel calm and welcome. He is a born natural and we hope he stays in Sacramento forever. Most importantly, he is fair and consistent in his pricing. He works well with or without insurance.

My first visit with Dr. Wong for cleaning and X-​rays. Awesome! I am very apprehensive when it comes to dentist visits and the environment. But I liked Dr. Wong and his assistant.
He was very easy to talk to. Typically dentist visits can be intimidating only because they know your faults. It’s so personal having someone look inside your beer tackle. Anyway, very relaxed… he will talk, which eases my anxiety. I’d rather have a talkative dentist than someone who is mum. In this situation, I like it when doctors talk!
He graduated from USC! Very smart. Very capable. He will put you at ease.
His assistant is also very capable and pro and efficient just like Dr. Wong.
I like all his dental doctor jargon. You’re learning as well as being cleaned. He’s very clear and direct about your teeth, too, which I like. He tells me what I can do right.
Returning this September for two appointments and on February.

Dr Wong is amazing!!! I know my fear of dentists is an irrational one. Just sitting in the exam chair causes me to panic and tear up. Dr. Wong put me at ease with his gentle manner, sense of humor and outstanding singing voice. I love you Dr. Wong and will continue to refer every person I know to your office. His receptionist is friendly and his assistant is equally amazing. Really, I can’t express enough how grateful I am.

Dr. Wong is an energetic, reasonable, and fair dentist. He understands that we all try our best on our teeth but life gets busy and no one can really brush after every meal, or even remember to constantly drink water and/​or rinse. My husband gets lots of cavities and another dentist (in Elk Grove) told him he has to fill all of them b/​c they’re all bad and they were going to cost him/​us a lot of $, exceeding our insurance coverage for the year but that dentist didn’t care. We decided to get a second opinion and after doing so, my husband found out that yes, he does have quite a few cavities, but some of them were just «baby» cavities, not all urgently needed to be filled and that if we monitor them, we can wait and see about filling them later and just working on a few that are more urgent now. This is what I mean by reasonable b/​c people can’t fork out hundreds of dollars ABOVE and beyond their insurance coverage (that’s why we have insurance!).
We saw Dr. Wong a few years ago and are now going back to see him even though he’s not in our town, we’re willing to make the trek. I will be seeing him in a few months and will write a review again next time. His office is pretty basic and the bldg is old, but I think as long as his skills and compassion are there, those are what matters more than having a flat screen TV to watch while my teeth are being worked on. I don’t need a spa experience, I need a skilled, honest, and reasonable dentist!

This review is a long time coming.
A few years ago, I was looking for a new career, not in my field. I was working at the time and I just wanted something with more meaning, more fun, and more work (stupid, I know). Dentistry was the last thing on my mind, but I decided to open myself up and see what it was all about. Knowing no dentists, I did a Unilocal search (obviously). It led me to a few with good reviews. So I called a few and asked about maybe talking with me after work or before work to get some insight. Most were noncommittal, which is understandable. They’re busy, they don’t want strangers coming in and mucking stuff up. But when I called Dr. Wong, he was, like he is with everything else, SUPER excited.

He opened up his practice to me, showed me to his patients, and urged me to be active and really get close up as long as his patients were comfortable with me there observing. Over the course of half a year, I would come and watch him at his craft. I decided to quit my career in economics and pursue dentistry. I am now in one of the best dental schools in the nation and much of it was due to him.
I’ve now been around countless, countless amount of dentists. I’ve watched all of them work. I’ve seen new guys and old guys. Dr. Wong ranks as one of the best. His small barebones office is like that because his rates are low and he saves on overhead to pass the savings on to you. If you want a fancy pampered practice, then this may not do. Maybe you want to hit the laughing gas and watch a movie that’s playing on a flat screen mounted to the ceiling. Which is OK. Different strokes and all that.
As far as his handskills, top notch. He’s quick and efficient. Very little wasted movement. He’s gentle and cognizant of whether you’re in pain or not.
But, the best thing about Dr. Wong is Dr. Wong. As others have said, he’s hilarious. And happy. He’s singing while he works on you. He’s constantly talking about hobbies, yours or his. He’s genuinely cheery and the atmosphere around him is great. If you want the stoic professional, that’s not Dr. Wong. Just one of the best people I have ever met, and not just in the dental community. When I am ready to have my own practice, I only hope to be as good a dentist as him.

I can not say enough nice things about Dr. Wong and his staff! This is the second time he has taken me in without an appointment and made sure my teeth were back in working condition. He and his staff genuinely listens to financial concerns and makes sure that they do everything they can to match your level of non insurance payments. I was overwhelmed, yet again, with their humor and kindness. THANK YOU!

Excellent dentist! Easily the best I’ve had. He’s kind, his staff is kind, he communicates well and has a talent for setting people’s concerns at ease. I’ve seen Dr. Wong several times this year for a variety of issues and I’ve been impressed every single time.
The problem with most dentist’s in my opinion is that you feel like you can’t trust them with your teeth. They tell you that you have a problem and you have to just go with it since you yourself are not a dentist. Dr. Wong seems to care about his patients and I’ve never got the feeling that he’s just trying to make a buck off of me. His communication abilities are great, he’ll talk to you about what’s going on every step of the way.

So glad I came through Dr Wong’s Unilocal page. I had an infection from my gum disease and had went to another dentist in greenhaven and when they gave me the total cost for my «deep cleaning» for four quadrants the total was around $ 1100. Saw this page so I called and ask and it was only $ 520 for four quadrants. My goodness what a price difference right omg. So happy I was able to schedule an appointment for my deep cleaning the next day but they only had time to do my Lower mouth which was fine because that’s where the infection was .
I was super nervous when I came to the office. My god I can’t remember the last time I stepped foot into a dentist office. I read all the Unilocal reviews so I kinda knew what I was expecting of dr Wong and yeah he is one cheerful guy which made me less nervous. The deep cleaning wasn’t so bad. I was numbed pretty good to feel anything besides when he cleaned that one certain area near my wisdom tooth. Overall it was not bad. I was expecting worse .
Can’t wait to come back :)

If you’re looking for an enthusiastic, go-​lucky, knowledgeable dentist that is happy to go to work and do his job, then look no further, Dr. Wong is all of the above. He is very thorough with his work and explains everything he does. He gets excited when he cleans out the dirt and hears the noises it makes when being removed. I am happy with his work and will probably stick with him as my dentist from now on. Thanks Dr. Wong!
