The Refuge

«GREAT LOCAL HOT SPOT FOR WICKED-​COOL EVENTS!»
SIT-​REP
THE REFUGE is an ALL AGES MUSIC VENUE in Downtown Sacramento. It provides a really cool, safe environment for the under-​21 crowd to have a place to listen to some awesome local bands.
I’ll say right up front that I don’t think there are enough places like THE REFUGE in Sacramento and it would be nice if there were so more activities for the 18 – 21 age-​bracket could be fostered.
THE SET-​UP
Besides being a venue for bands and special community events, THE REFUGE also has it’s own espresso bar, Café Rwanda. It has typical non-​alcohol beverage options such as bottled water, sodas, hot chocolate & Italian sodas. From the literature and website, the proceeds are donated to a namesake: a construction project for a much-​needed community-​sponsored medical clinic in Mumeya, Rwanda. [I’d be curious to know how that project is progressing in fact.]
EVENTS CALENDAR
Back on December 17, I went to my FIRST event at THE REFUGE for «TIS THE SEASON — 1ST ANNUAL TOYDRIVE.» What a wonderful event for a totally worthy cause. It was also a great time to see some of my favorite up-​and –coming local music artists.
The next event on my radar is their scheduled show, «Rockin It At The Apocalypse» and it looks like a great line-​up again of music talent!
