The staff in the Volunteer Services center are very, to the max, rude and sarcastic. They do not explain professionally or properly to new volunteers. You’re the nurses b… You do not get any experience. You’re basically covering for the nurse and doing the dirty work. Their requirements are super strict and unnecessary. Overall, it’s all unprofessional and they will use you. Worst experience.

I wish I could give them 0 stars! The rudest people i have ever seen. They tell you to always have a smile on your face while volunteering, but they are the ones who absolutely hate their job! Orientation is very long and it’s very disorganized! I live outside of sacramento and wouldn’t be given a parking permit! I have to pay $ 10 for parking each time I volunteer. Definitely won’t be volunteering for UCMC again.

Deal with these people as little as you can. I’m not sure how you interpreted their actions as actually caring about your experience. That’s funny actually. «STRICT»? No. Not going to expand any further but strict is pretty far from accurate. I’m actually curious as to what your actual update will be. Looks fairly grim from most other accounts.

STRICT but very organized group of people who care about your Volunteer Experience! As a UC Davis student volunteering through the Health-Related Internships or volunteering at the student-run clinics, you will definitely encounter employees here! It might be tough on you, but they do this to ensure accreditation and that no one gets hurt(you, hospital staff, patients etc.). Orientation feels like death, and the on going documenting your hours may seem repetitive. But it is really worth it! They like you to call before you visit because their office may be closed for holding orientation! Follow the directions and don’t forget any of the paperwork you need. They are known to throw away applications if you don’t meet the deadlines for this reason. Non-UC Davis Students can volunteer also, and I heard that you won’t need to be on a 6-month waiting list to hear a call back(unlike other hospitals). Will update on my ongoing experience with the Volunteer Services!
