There’s something so spectacularly unspecial about a 7 – 11 in the middle of nowhere West Virginia in the middle of the night. That’s what makes this one so special.

We stopped in at this 7 eleven on Saturday, 20130525 for $ 0.49 slurpee day, taking place from May 24 – 27(Memorial Day Weekend) as advertised on the big banner outside their store and again on the front of their slurpee machine and on their website. We found that there weren’t any medium cups left, so we asked if they had any more. Instead of just telling us they were out of cups or going to the back to check for more cups, the worker claimed the deal only applied on the 24th and the 27th, and wasn’t in effect on the days in between. We promptly left the store, drove down the road to the next 7-eleven, and asked whether the deal was in effect, and they of course said that it was, so we got slurpees there. Upon getting home we called this store back and asked for the manager. To my surprise, it was the same worker’s voice that we spoke to at the store, and she introduced herself as ‘Assistant Manager Jessica’ and confirmed that the deal was only for the days of the 24th and the 27th and wasn’t in effect on the days between. We then called the corporate office and reported the incident, and they confirmed to us that it was in fact meant to be for the entire weekend and that they’d investigate. I’m not sure if Jessica the Assistant Manager was lying, or just misunderstood the deal, but in either case it’s unacceptable. Either the store’s acting manager is a liar, or the store’s acting manager radically misunderstands the store’s own promotions.
