Seems like a great place but smoking in a restaurant in 2015 doesn’t work for most people.

It’s an ok place. RARELY busy. The music is ok about once every month when red river plays, otherwise it’s a band that isn’t that great. I like the steaks. That is what makes the place … but that’s about it.

Our visit was solely for what’s been commonly known to the locals as Steak Night, held every Thursday. Just due to our hectic schedules and having a regular Thursday night engagement, we chose to forego it and actually was heading home from work, when I decided to pull into the last available parking space a little after 5 PM for dinner.
Immediately when we walked in, there was a friend of ours at the bar, so we ended up ordering and eating our Steak dinners there, while catching up with our friend, whom we hadn’t seen in 4 years.
Now, I’m not going to mince words. This is a bar. Most of their monies are made by selling alcohol, so patrons are allowed to smoke while eating their dinners. Now, we did not because we are non-​smokers, but it is just reminiscent of the days gone by when there was a Smoking section in every eating establishment in America. And by golly, this place is as Americana as it gets (like Route 66).
Our waitress immediately took our order and put it in to the kitchen and we were served within 10 minutes. She also got my husband a draft pint Bud Light ($ 3.00) and me a Diet Coke ($ 2.00 free refills) while we waited, so in essence, there was no wait at all.
Our steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare and had beautiful cross grill-​marks, as you would see in a fine steakhouse. The Steak Dinner is a 12 oz. rib-​eye, served with corn on the cob, seasoned green beans and baked potato with butter and sour cream — ALL for $ 12.50! I was able to finish every bite of my steak and green beans, but ended up packing my baked potato and corn To Go.
Oh, I almost forgot. When we were settling our bill, the waitress handed us a Loyalty card with 2 punches. Apparently, you get a FREE Steak dinner after 10 paid. Sweet!

I just spent a lovely rainy day at Arnold’s on US 1 in St. Augustine. The atmosphere is casual and customer friendly. At the bar was Lou, an obviously professional barkeep, who greets everyone by name and shakes hands when they leave. Today a large group of tourists with children came in for a brief stop. Lou was calm, cool and collected although the customers only ordered ice tea and sodas. He was attentive to all the demands for refills while taking care of all his regulars as well. I noticed that they left no tip and no thank you but Lou remained his professional self and made no mention of chaos that the group brought into the bar.
It’s this kind of neighborhood bar that is so rare but so appreciated by locals that I recommend.

Recently remodeled. Whatever. Its a bar. Can’t stand that cigarette smoke. Get rid of the smokers please.
