The St John’s Chamber goes out to lunch once a month in a large group of 20 – 25 people. They usually go to the Athena Restaurant. It is a standard industry practice nationwide to add an 18% gratuity to parties of six or more. The St John’s County Chamber of Commerce refuses to pay for their service. They think they should be waited on for free. A large portion of the businesses in downtown St Augustine have tipped employees. Shame on the St John’s County Chamber of Commerce, and shame on the Athena for not sticking up for their employees.
