I’m frequent visitor to our favorite restaurant, we are always satisfied with their mouthwatering flavorful foods and unbeatable service. When I go out of town always find a Indian restaurant because I’m big fan for this type of food. But I can’t find food like Tasty any where but Taste of Himalayas. Don’t know how they do? How they make?. Always consistent and tasty. Keep up the good works and friendly environment.

Servers very nice! Lamb and chicken ta tiki VERY dry and next to no spices. Not very impressed. Note: if you use a groupon be careful it is not printed on groupon but the owner will only take one groupon per table. Even thou it’s not stated in the fine print. Will not be going back. But servers where very nice and friendly!

Taste of the Himalayas is a fun go to for Indian food in St Charles. Their buffet is a great value at less than $ 10 per person. The food quality is quite good considering that. There is outside seating available in the summer, and in the winter there are two rooms inside. Typically when you go in for a lunch buffet it’s busy, but there isn’t a wait. I could go on — but I do enjoy this establishment and I think its the best Indian flavor between St Charles and Geneva. The only thing that keeps it from being a five star is the quality of food could be a little better and the building could be a touch nicer(for the cost associated with the food). Still, highly recommended overall.

This place perfectly fits the profile of «I’m happy with my experience here, but I don’t have any real desire to go back again.» Not because the food was bad, but it was just average enough to not be very memorable. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good, but I’m fine with only going here once. They had a nice lunch buffet option that was pretty inexpensive and the area inside is large and divided nicely between the bar area and general eating area. In all, it’s a perfectly decent place to get some Indian food.

This is a great, little place. We came on a Sunday for lunch and they had a buffet going for $ 9.99. Servers are super attentive(almost annoyingly so, but hard to fault them for that). The buffet had a lot of options and everything we tasted was good. Nothing super spicy or complex. There were two chicken dishes, lentils, chickpeas, etc. The ambience is pretty basic. Noise levels were moderate(we were there with about 5 other tables eating). I had the Nepalese tea and it was very good. My spouse had the ‘Neplaese inspired’ beer and it was a basic lager. Overall, it was a good experience, but not worth 4 stars for me. I do want to go back and order off of the menu — judging a place based on a buffet experience is likely not fair. I’d say go and try it. I doubt you’d be disappointed.

As a relatively adventurous eater that loves vegetarian and spicy food, this place gets an A+! Very friendly service plus an extensive menu for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike. My boyfriend and I split a veggie samosa appetizer each time — yum. I’m also a big fan of the Nepali tea(spiced tea with ginger, milk, and black pepper) and each dish I’ve tried.

Really wonderful Indian restaurant. The food is top quality, the restaurant is very well maintained and the staff is knowledgable and friendly. We went with a large group and ordered a variety of dishes. Everyone loved everything! It was hard to pick a favorite dish as they had their own distinct taste, spice mixture, and accompanied each other well. The chefs really know how to prepare Indian food and don’t just give you some nondescript curry where you can’t tell one dish from another. Our groups favorite dishes were the chicken tikka masala, channa masala and the delightfully pillow soft naan. The staff is also very knowledgable and will recommend dishes and sauces to accompany your choices. It can be a little disconcerting if you know what you want to order but they are doing it to be helpful and truly want you to have an incredible dinning experience. This place is really top notch and I can not wait to return!!!

This is a very nice spot in St. Charles – from host to server, each smiles and makes sure you are pleased with being at the restaurant and with your meal. We’ve been here twice, once with a large group of friends, the other on a whim. The chicken and lamb dishes are tender with subtle sauces. The portions are generous and very nicely spiced. Either plan on having a lunch or think ‘share’. The heat is as you like it – you can request mild to hot, so spice with your own heat decision. I’ve found the mixed drinks and wine okayish. I’d go with a good beer instead. As we wrapped our leftovers, we left with our own smiles. Very nice!

Came here at 7pm on a Friday night and was surprised it was not more crowded. It wasn’t dead by any means but we did not have to wait at all. I was really pleased to see that they had their own private parking lot as many downtown St. Charles restaurants do not. The staff was very attentive… at first. My girlfriend and I were so busy catching up that we weren’t ready to order very promptly. After we pushed off ordering twice the wait staff just never returned until we took a minute to sit in silence and stare in their direction, indicating we were ready. I ordered a glass of wine but in the future I will definitely try the Nepalese beer! For my entrée I ordered chicken biriyani, which came with the option of mild, medium, or spicy. I opted for medium and it was perfect. Our food came out in oval, silver bowls with serving spoons so I think it was meant for sharing but it did make the table a lot messier and more crowded. The portions were large, enough for 2 or 3 meals easily. My only complaint, besides the service issue which I take partial responsibility for, was with the tandoori paratha bread. My grandmother is Pakistani and has made this for me my whole life. It is normally buttery and flaky but this one was heavy and pretty flavorless. I will try a garlic naan bread next time. ^^ that being said, I’ll be back! I think I’ll check out the lunch buffet. We split the check and between 3 drinks, 2 entrees, and a side of bread it was about $ 55.00, which was less than I anticipated and so worth it!

A big place with tons of service and good food. The folks here really work together to make the restaurant come alive. I believe that my friends and I must have met no less than five different staff members all working in tandem to make certain our visit, our food, and our drinks were all well received. The menu has something to please Vegans and Carnivores alike. They serve exta-extra-spicy options if you ask, which I appreciated, especially with the off-menu hot pepper naan. Nepali and Southern cuisine are both well represented, and the salty mimosa was an unexpected treat. I’d readily eat here again, and bring my Bhut-Naga Jolokia powder with me again when I do. Namaste!

I got both kinds of dumplings(momos and samosas) plus some white rice. The food was good, but the waiter tried very hard(almost to the point that I walked out the door) to upsell me to saffron rice. If you go prepared to be firm, this is a good place. If you don’t like confrontation, either skip this place or order the saffron rice.

Let me start with this: good food(except the 1 appetizer… See below), but terrible service/overall experience. If the overall experience was good, I would have given Taste of Himalayas 4 stars. This was our first time here and the food was good enough that we are willing to try again. Let me walk you through our night: 6:50 we walked in and found a small, quaint and busy restaurant. There was no actual hostess and a female server told us it would be about a 5 minute wait(not a problem for us). She asked us to sit at the bar while we waited(there is no other waiting area). We sat at the bar while maybe a bartender/food runner/busser made drinks. He never said a word to us. We would have gladly had a drink while waiting but we were totally ignored. We watched the chaos of a totally unorganized staff run around. No one seemed to know what was going on. I watched the bartender/random extra employee start a shaken drink(ice in it), leave it for at least 5 minutes, come back and shake it some more and then send it out. Ew. Way to water that drink down. As we sat at the bar, several other couples and groups came in. Finally tables started opening up. It took another 5 – 10 minutes to get those cleared, one at a time. And we finally got a table(after another employee tried to seat people that came in after us, but the female server stopped him). They sat about 4 groups, one at a time. Instead of starting to sit people and get them going on drinks and appetizers, they only sat people down. And then the wait continued. And the booth we were sat in had a family with a small child prior to us. The Cheerios and kid mess was still on the booth seats and all over the ground. Stepping on and sitting in other people’s messes is so gross. I’m not asking for them to pull out a carpet cleaner, but wipe off the seats and grab a push broom or something. From sitting down at the table to finally getting pissed and flagging down a random employee running around avoiding eye contact with the patrons… 24 minutes. And he was rude! He said your(and mumbled a name) table. And walked away. Shortly after, the female server that greeted us came over. She was nice enough, seemed a bit frazzled though. Maybe it was just a really bad night for them. But still. 24 minutes from being seated to having to go find you? We placed a drink and appetizer order. Drinks came out to us in 3 minutes. Appetizers in 12 minutes. Things were starting to move faster. We ordered vegetable samosa and chicken pakora. The veggie samosas were good. Plenty of flavor. The chicken pakora was nasty. The little bit of shoestring dry/chewy, over cooked chicken inside was tasteless and hard to eat. The flavor came from the coating which was light and well done. But overall, not worth it. Gross. We also had the keema matter(lamb), chicken tikka masala, veggie biryani(it really is a meal in itself) and garlic naan. The rest of the meal was very good. Like I said, the actual food was good. Flavorful, tender, good presentation, etc. At the end of the meal, I asked for garlic naan and basmati rice to go. And also for the check. The server brought us boxes and walked off. For another 15 minutes. I flagged her down, and again asked her for the check. She said the to go is almost ready and walked away. The to go came out and there we sat, still waiting for the check. 25 minutes until the check finally came. I requested that she not leave so I could give it to her right away. I wasn’t about to wait any longer. I watched others have similar issues. Having to flag down their server, taking their check to the bar to cash out, people with reservations having to wait 30 – 45 minutes after their reservation time… It was chaos in there. I don’t know if they were understaffed, if today was everyone’s first day, if everyone was just having a bad day, or what. But I haven’t had that kind of a bad experience or service in a long LONG time. Like I said, was our first time here and the food was good enough that we are willing to try again. But if they can’t pull it together for a second visit, it’ll be a 1 star and we will be done. When I’m having a $ 100+ meal I expect a little more than a kid disgusting booth, being ignored, having another server being rude, having to ask for the check multiple times, etc.

The reviews are spot on in regards to the food. One thing I don’t like here is the waiters/owners relentlessly trying to upsell. I order one beer and im told«no, get that one»(a few dollars more expensive). They do the same with the saffron rice too. Sorry but I already get rice with my meal, I’m not about being pushed to pay an extra $ 6 for a different rice(as tasty as it is). Surely you’re making plenty of money, don’t be greedy.

The food was delicious, an unexpected treat far West of Chicago. Even in the early afternoon on a Saturday their 6 day a week«Lunch Buffet» was available and such a deal. The wait staff were delightful and interesting to chat with. The food? So, so good. Veggie friendly and some meaty options too. Must try if you’re anywhere along the Fox River or touring Fermi Lab.

This is the only Indian restaurant(that I know of) near my house. I was desperately craving Indian food after working on a paper, so I popped in for the $ 9.99 lunch buffet. They offer it 6 days a week but not very many choices. Wish they offered samosas and mango ice-cream in the buffet. I did enjoy the bone-in chicken curry, vegetable pakora and chicken makhani(butter chicken). The lunch buffet comes with sizzling plate of tandoori chicken and delicious naan. Service was kind and attentive. Overall, decent for Indian food in the suburbs and quite a deal for lunch!

First let me start off saying this«WAS» my most favorite Indian restaurant ever. From Cali to NYC their food«WAS» absolutely on point. But for the past year… they have dropped the ball way too many times and have officially lost me for good! I’ve been there 3 times in the last 3 weeks(YES, that’s how much I used to love this place). First time they over charged me and my sister for extra food we didn’t order and would NOT refund us.(It was take-out and I said the dinner was«for two» so I would get proper take-out silver wear and napkins. Instead they doubled the order and charged us for it without being sorry or offering to fix it) Second time I did not receive my change and receipt and was robbed of $ 12 on a $ 27 bill. When I finally asked for both the waiters acted confused and fumbled around through receipts for over 13 minutes until I finally just walked out. Third time… Just last night my friends and I where being hustled to order more food than we needed\wanted and were constantly hounded to order liquor and more food. I WILLNEVEREVERGOBACKTHEREAGAIN. Strike Three! They are done! Most importantly I need to convey their quality of food is what won me over years ago. They since have just gone down. Their Chicken(including their Lamb) has continuously been dry and value is horrible. I’m sorry! At first I really LOVED this place I would take all my friends and family here. Even folks who never had Indian before because their food was just so damn good. I’m sorry to report service, quality, and value have plummeted and Jack’s(the owner) attitude and behavior is rotten and completely unacceptable. All their servers but one are just as bad. rant over.

So, we got here pretty much 20 mins before kitchen closed. The owner kinda hurried us up with the orders but more than made up for it by fast delicious food and giving us some freebies: D. We got chicken momos — 10 pc that was pretty good, I would have liked some veggie also in the filling but it had just chicken. Then we ordered 2 garlic naans, one aloo paratha and one chicken tikka masala. Also got a chicken briyani to go and got free mango lassi!!! The service was really friendly and definitely recommend this place!!!
