Lovely Salon and Spa

I dig this place! Got an amazing manicure today that was expertly done by Laura. Very professional and listened to my preferences. Love the location and it’s beautifully decorated. My only suggestion is that the stairs going to the second level can definitely be improved. I booked a pedicure appointment a few weeks from now. Excited to return!

My hair looks great and it was very relaxing experience. I had Monica and I think she did a great job. Will definitely be back!

BEST Salon in Milwaukee!!! Super friendly staff… EXCELLENT atmosphere & superb stylists. Have been going there for over two years and I would not think about going anywhere else. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Bad haircut and bad hair color, I went to another salon to get it fixed.

Beautiful space. Amazing service. A simple haircut appointment turns into a mini spa retreat with the scalp massage. I decided to get a haircut last minute, and I was paired with Marissa. She was fabulous! I have curly hair, which can be tricky to cut and style. She listened carefully to my haircut wishes, and the final result was perfect!

The new Lovely is so dang lovely, you guys.
(Yes, that’s too easy a lead-​in, but cut me some slack… it’s Monday morning post-Yelp’s On a Boat party, so I’ve been a little slow to get moving.)
Everything that was rad is still rad, everyone that was awesome is still awesome. Kate is still the best and will talk to you about serious or funny or anything in-​between things while she expertly snips at your tresses. The Aveda products are still my jam. The space, however, is larger and just nicer in general. (It’s sort of like Lovely took over a big random farmhouse-​type structure in the middle of St. Francis…)
If you loved Lovely before, you’ll continue to love them in their new space… now with just more of it!

I was a part of a bridal party that had hair appointments just this past Saturday at Lovely. Front desk staff was very welcoming and professional. There was a table for us to set up drinks/​snacks for our group while we got ready. I had my updo service with Dana and I can’t say enough how impressed I was and still am! I’ve had bad experiences with updos in the past and was nervous, especially since I was trying a style I hadn’t done before. I have naturally curly hair and wanted to do a sort of old hollywood style that would require my hair straight before styling (which i blow dried out at home, otherwise she would’ve never had time to do it all!) The weather was pretty awful — cold, very rainy, and very windy — so this was a pretty big gamble but Dana didn’t seem worried in the slightest. My hair turned out perfect, I received compliments on it all day, and it didn’t lose shape in the slightest! The curls held their shape the entire day through it all! They even looked gorgeous the following day after all the bad weather Saturday and sleeping on them! I didn’t know hair could hold like that! Thank you for doing such a fabulous job and making me a beautiful bridesmaid!

I had heard about this place from a friend, and stopped in without an appointment while I was in the neighborhood. I was happy to find out they had an appointment within a half hour and was offered a cup of their house tea, a licorice and peppermint herbal blend, to enjoy while I waited for my stylist Brad to finish up with his prior appointment.
The space is perfect — well thought out and spacious but with the character and warmth of hardwood floors and beautifully ornate ceiling tiles and woodwork. The charm of the building helps to soften the hard lines of the salon equipment and really make for a soothing environment.
I enjoyed my appointment with Brad. He gave me a great cut and offered some very useful suggestions for how to style my hair. My bill was $ 60 for just about an hour — including a scalp massage, neck and shoulder massage, shampoo, deep herbal moisture treatment (my hair is so silky!), conditioner, cut, styling, and product consultation.
I’d recommend Lovely if you’re looking for more than just a haircut and want to treat yourself to a relaxing and enjoyable salon experience.

I get my haircut once a year and, after my visit yesterday, I will never go to another salon again but Lovely. My appointment was at 6:30 but my stylist, Shannon, got done with a client ahead of schedule and called to let me know I could come in whenever I was ready. I wasn’t busy so this ended up great as it freed up the rest of my night. The flexibility was much appreciated!
I’d never visited their previous location in Bay View 1, but I can’t imagine it was more inviting than their current space in St. Francis. The salon is beautiful, spacious, relaxing and clean. The offer of a beverage and massage during your shampoo are also nice touches! Everyone from my stylist, Shannon, to the receptionist were super friendly and made me feel at home.
I have visited other Aveda salons but this one is the best! Make sure you stop in soon.

I love lovely. It took me a very long time to find a salon in MKE that I felt comfortable going to AND that did an excellent job. I started going here in 2011 when I needed a place for my wedding party and myself. I won’t go anywhere else now. Everyone there is fantastic! The new location is great :)

I’ve been a dedicated Lovely client for years — and this new space does NOT disappoint. Though Addie is my go-​to gal, I know many friends who frequent the salon for a variety of services and none of them have ever been disappointed. This is a place I’m more than happy to recommend over and over again.
As Joanna T mentioned, lots of windows give the place a homey and relaxing feel. (If my house was sweet spa, that is). I really appreciated the side lot for my car… last thing you want to do when you’re going to get pampered is fight for a spot.
Each area has it’s own space now… massage, nails, shampoo, hair, etc. I really enjoyed sipping my tea and gazing out the window while my foils were sitting. (Their Lovely products are AWESOME, including the tea blend!)
I always get compliments on my hair and color and ALWAYS leave Lovely feeling better than when I came in. This place knows how to treat a lady (or a guy) right. Now, can I get a hand massage please?

Lovely’s new location (about 2 miles south on KK from the original space) is delightful. They took a shuttered townie bar/​grill and had the vision to turn it into a gorgeous salon/​spa.
The interior renovations are really well done — there’s tons of windows and natural light, cute mason jar light fixtures and a restful shampoo room. Another bonus is ample street and off-​street parking. (FYI park on the street if it’s wet as the lot isn’t yet paved and can be a bit mucky) Upstairs is the spa space with dedicated rooms for skincare, massage and nails.
While the space is new, many things haven’t changed — the staff is unfailingly friendly and services include little «extras» like hand massages and hot towels. I pay about the same for my cut/​color here as I did at my last place but my results are 100% better.
That’s because I have the Greatest Stylist Ever — Kate (many thanks to RFelly for recommending her). When I started coming to Lovely almost 3 years ago, I had bounced around from salon to salon. At some places my cut would be great for a week and then grow out wonky. At others, my color would be uneven or fade too fast. No longer — I swear that Kate has some magical abilities — like maybe she can communicate telepathically with my hair? I don’t know — but I regularly get unsolicited compliments from random peeps on my hair. My color doesn’t fade, and it grows out perfectly.
So if people on the street aren’t like «girl, your hair is great!» — then you should probably make an appointment with Kate.

Mom loves it, Fiancé loves it. They see Donna. Very nice place.
Only negative is I’d like a couple more chairs for people like me just waiting. If a woman comes in and needs to wait, I give up the chair and kind of stand there like a big oaf. I can’t wait for mom outside or go elsewhere, she is in a wheel chair so I don’t want her waiting for me when she is finished. There is a good handicap ramp in the rear. I’d just like a paved path directly from the parking lot to it. Going all the way around the building on the pothole filled sidewalk sucks. Lot isn’t paved either.
I know this is expensive and out of their control. The landlord/​property owner should step it up.
