I hate to say it but. this Safeway needs help. They need to re-train there employees on customer service. Or hire new staff. Everyone would appreciate it. I want to check out and not feel like I’m bothering the cashier by paying for my groceries lol. Or get nasty lettuce as I’m getting my sandwich made. I understand nothing can change over night but please get it together.

Our experience at this location was made exceedingly better by our cashier Nora. As my fiancé’ looked around trying to find a particular item, several employees stocking looked at us, but made no offer to assist us as we were obviously trying to find something. Nora was kind enough to hunt down the item for us as we were cashing out; didn’t seem annoyed with us and helped us find a needle in a haystack(a deck of cards). PROMOTETHISEMPLOYEEATONCE!!!

I am giving five stars for the fact that I appreciate this store for many reasons. It is clean, brightly lit, has everything I need and wonderful hours. open late i other words. I do want to way that the one time I had am issue with a checkers customer service skills management was very understanding and understood my complaint. This store has a very good management and I appreciate that a lot.

This is mostly to the management of this store: I usually have friendly checkers at this store but today my checker was an older woman named Wanda who was extremely unfriendly. She did not say a word to me nor did she even look at me until I needed to sign for my groceries and she barked out«SIGN!» and gestured toward the machine. She grumbled something else during the process, not even facing me, but I couldn’t understand. I work in the service industry and I’ve never been treated so poorly. Besides this encounter, I have no complaints!

I live near here and try to avoid going here. Lines are always hideously long, not enough cashiers, and they never call for backup. I once gave the guy in front of me change to complete his total, then the cashier(who had the hygiene of a bum) proceeded to ask me for money, twice! This same cashier stopped scanning items multiple times to look at young girls walking by. I think they need to work on their background checks, as he creeped me out big time as a pedophile. Not to mention there is never anyone at the bakery and their deli staff is horrible. The red haired woman, I think her name is Melinda, made eye contact with me several times while I waited at the sandwich counter, then ignored me for 20 minutes and helped at least 5 people that came after me before I finally called her out on it and walked away. It’s not the first time I’ve dealt with her attitude over making sandwiches. I seriously think she needs a new job as she is horrible at customer service. Maybe she should switch to bakery if the deli is so horrible. Which reminds me, why were there only 2 people working the deli on a five dollar Friday afternoon?! I would rather shop in Napa then deal with the obnoxious staff here. I think there is only one cashier in this whole place that I like, a nice woman with long gray hair(I don’t know her name). She’s always nice to me and my kids, and I always go to her line. Seriously, only go here in desperate times.

The sandwiches are terrible, bread was stale and the ingredients were not fresh, line was long it took forever and there was only 2 people in front of me, then I got my sandwich and had to stand in another line to pay for it. too bad too I work right across the street. I usually go to Guinis or Palisades for sandwiches and now I know why.

Produce often on the verge of being spoiled, frozen food often allowed to thaw and re freeze several times, and 30 minute lines!!! This Safeway is a DUMP! They charge more than other Safeway stores in the region, disrespect locals, sell spoiled food, and underpay the staff. If you dislike food poisoning, appreciate quality, and value fair treatment of workers, stay away from this store. As a local, I’d rather drive 30 minutes to Napa or short local merchants like Sunshine than support this dump!

It’s OK for a Safeway, and they have a nice selection of cheap snacks. I usually go there for the discount shelf setup. Seriously, 50% off peppermint white chocolate melt in your mouth mints and Cinnabon bagel crisps, how could you say no?

I live in Lake Berryessa(40 minutes away) and my kids come here to school so this is where I do most last minute Shopping, It‘s has convenient hours since they close so late, and even though It‘s a smaller store It‘s pretty well stocked, except for the produce sometimes everything is almost gone, but overall I can find what I need. Tostadas is almost impossible to find and the check out lines can get pretty long Specially at peak hours, Love their Breakfast burritos with egg whites and for less than $ 3 It‘s really affordable.

WOW! I’ve always had good experiences at Safeways in general, but this one is by far the nicest. When employees greet you and talk to you, they are genuinely caring, and pay attention! This is a smaller Safeway than I’m used to, but its the right size for this small town. You can get some wines, but they’re smart to not make it too big when you have all the other wineries around town to check out. I’m sure this will be my go-to grocery store in town.

Once again, this store fails to provide enough checkers to handle the crowd. Over 15 people in each line. The management of this store needs to be retrained or better yet, replaced!

It’s a giant Safeway. All middle America groceries you could want and grabbing iced tea for the road after some drinking through the day. Hilarious food homage to Francis Ford Coppola and the Godfather though. Gawdy and humorous at the same time.

John F, the older man who was running the cash register, refused to sell a bottle of wine to my girlfriend and me(21 and 23, respectively) even though we each had photo ID. On top of that, he was extremely rude and condescending, and outright ignored my request to speak to a manager. Avoid his line, if possible.

I dislike this store immensely, but I live here in town and it’s only one of the two local markets that is here. I therefore avoid going as much as possible. My main complaint with store is that it is so poorly operated. There is practically no managerial presence on the floor. If you ask about that, you will be told they are in the office working on payroll and other things. The store therefore has very long lines with few cashiers open most of the time. This past week I had incident happen with an older male cashier named Anthony who became very loud and verbal with me over an incident that was completely preventable. When I called to speak with a manager when I got home, I was told there were was no manager on duty. Wow, 5pm on a Sunday and no MOD. Corporate always responds quickly to complaints and one of their young assistant managers will always call following that. As far as I can tell, managers are not permanent and are constantly rotated in and out; I think the same is probably true for the GM as I have yet to meet one. Safeway should be ashamed how they run their markets. Save yourself time and aggravation and shop at Sunshine Market across the way.

While the store has a good selection and reasonable prices the check out is appalling. They never have more than three checkers working at one time. The«express» line has 15 – 20 people regularly. Go to Sunshine Market when in St Helena until Safeway stops being so cheap and hires the needed staff.

***This was my first time visiting a Safeway; this Safeway is located right off Main Street in Saint Helena; they had a decent selection of fresh produce and meats(even Choice beef) as well as a decent sized bakery; while this Safeway might not stand out in other areas, it might be a great shop for locals because this grocery store probably offers lower prices than the many gourmet markets in the immediate area*** This Safeway has its own free parking lot(which is big).

This safeway location was my go to grocery store when I lived and worked in the area. It was either here or Sunshine Foods. No Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s, just good ‘ol Safeway. We stopped by recently to pick up some ingredients, and the place hasn’t changed a bit. One thing that changed for the worse are the lines. It feels like forever standing in line, you end up chatting with the people you’re in line with! We have their sister store, Vons here in Vegas, but with other grocery store options, I only stop in when I need to grab some Its-It Ice Cream Sandwiches… ALOHA!!! I don’t really understand why this Safeway is getting such low reviews and ratings because this is the only Safeway for miles in this quaint little town! I’m just glad that there IS a Safeway here! It’s pretty much the same Safeway/Vons that I am used to so not too surprised there. I’m glad I can use my Vons card ;) The parking is ample with a huge parking lot and it is close to several stores and the main street. Staff are friendly and helpful.
