I came here to see a band which only performs every third Sunday and I highly encourage you to come out and see them! Who Nu is the name of the Band and the talent in this band is crazy! All the members are in other bands and they only perform once a month and its here, at the Bay Street Bar and Grill! My first time here and I ordered Bloody Mary’s. They were good. The food is ridiculously inexpensive and great bar food. I had a jalapeño burger with tots for a whopping $ 7 and it seriously was as good as a more upscale bar/restaurant that charges $ 12. I kept staring at the breakfast menu as it is served all day but I opted for the burger. I most definitely will come and check out breakfast soon! The crowd was wonderfully diverse, welcoming and friendly. I can not imagine anyone not feeling comfortable here. Why not Five stars? Our Poor Server had the entire bar. Our service was horrid, not because she was a bad server but because she was just too busy to be attentive. Just at our table alone, the bill could have been $ 100 more in liquor sales but she was never around for anyone to order more drinks. No silverware when bringing food, no water or soda refills, etc. Shame on the Owner for not putting another server on that day. I most definitely will come back to Bay Street every third Sunday to hear Who Nu and probably in between to get some good cheap grub!

Been meaning to write this review for many a moon… My man and I stumbled upon this place a couple of months back when we were shopping on a Sunday morning at the bearded Mermaid(great vintage/curio store, great owner, different review); And it was recommended for a good breakfast-and bloody Mary brunch combo. What a rare treat this happen stance experience was! We walked into a welcoming but obviously neighborhood regulars type bar. simple, basic décor. The food was good and cheap. The service friendly and fast. The drinks were strong and good. Completely unpretentious crowd. The owner came over and chatted with us about the place. He was so gracious, and fun! But the best part of the experience was the MUSIC. What a surprise to find such an accomplished and well respected jazz singer as Dorthy Doring accompanied by a great band playing for FREE on a Sunday morning in a tucked away little bar off seventh street. What a treat! I had seen Dorthy Doring at the Artist Quarter years ago, and remembered loving her performance. And the owner deserves real props for bringing in this caliber of entertainment and offering it free, He He was great to talk to and was clearly a people person, who loves and knows the industry well. I really wanted this place to get their due praise. there are not too many places like this left. We should treasure them! Nothing beats a comfortable space, laid back but efficient service, a great band and a good Bloody Mary to kick off a Sunday.

No. Never again. I’ve been to dive bars, and this place is no dive bar. Its a boring neighborhood bar that serves bad food and has no beer selection. Also the service is slow, and I was able to see into the kitchen and watch the cook in action… and methinks not. Eek! is accurate. (Also, when completing this review I would have checked the box«dirt bag» under ambiance, but no such option exists.)

This is one of my all time favorite spots! I lived in the area and stumbled upon it about 4 years ago. It changed ownership and just simply got BETTER!!! Fabulous drinks, deliciously in expensive food and wonderful staff. I now live in Eagan but still drive to «The Bay» because I love this joint!

The best French toast I have had lately. We usually head there for breakfast but someday will try going for lunch.

Went here for the 1st time this weekend and had breakfast. The food was very good. I’m looking forward to going back to try dinner. Lots of things on the dinner menu that look really good. Only complaint is that the service was really slow. There was one waitress tending to the whole restaurant. Actually had to go up to the bar to get a refill. We’ll go back again!

Cold bottles and frosty mugs! I read a review in a local newspaper a while back about the new menu and then saw an ad for their Happy Hour specials in the same paper a couple weeks later so we had to check it out. I walked in around 5:30 on a recent weekday evening and the place was hopping! I took a seat at the bar and ordered a beer — $ 2 for a very cold bottle of Coors Light can’t be beat! My friend joined me in a matter of minutes. She ordered a big, giant, frosty mug of Mich Golden Light for only $ 3.50. We sat talking for a while and watching all the regulars come in and out. The bartenders couldn’t have been nicer and knew everyone, except us, but we did not feel out of place. We also perused the menu and decided on chicken nachos. They were huge and loaded with good stuff for only $ 8.95. It was a cheap evening out catching up with a friend. I think I will check the place out for a weekend breakfast or a Saturday afternoon meat raffle! The service quick and pleasant, the food delicious and the beer cold, what else do you need?

A neighborhood bar that actually had great ribs at reasonable price on Thursday night! I agree with the interesting crowd. A modern day«Cheers» perhaps???

I visit Bay Street Bar and Grill at least once weekly. The bartenders are generally nice and mix you a strong mixed drink. The prices of the drinks are a little high compared to the other establishments around them I believe. They make up for the higher prices by mixing the drinks a little stronger I guess. The crowd that you’ll find here is on the interesting side most times. You will see some controversy from time to time. But it is entertaining to say the least. There is plenty of room to sit at tables or booths and the bar itself is large. Good place to meet up with several people. Food is served most days until 9pm. I have eaten here once and it was OK at best. The menu is straight up bar food. They do have pizza available after the kitchen closes for $ 10. I have heard they also have a steak & eggs special in the AM on the weekends. Haven’t tried it out yet. Bottom line, a good place to get your drink on, crank the juke box, and watch some interesting people. Check them out!

This was the third bar on the list of the Inaugural Unilocal Pub crawl. The place wasn’t very busy, but there were quite a few interesting characters there. It looked they had finished up a poker tournament earlier in the night. There were about a dozen poker tables in the back area of the bar. I ordered a tall beer with a shot of tequila. The beer was huge. It had to have been 32 oz. I guess I can’t say much else about the place, I honestly don’t remember much after this point. There was some guy named Tom that I thought was hilarious, but I guess everyone else was getting ready to punch the guy in the face. I noticed that they have a M-F $ 3.99 breakfast special, eggs toast and hash browns. By this time it was about 1:30 and my ride home was arriving. We stopped by Cuzzy’s and I had a Sprite. The night ended with the most delicious meal imaginable, 4 sliders with cheese and crinckle fries from White Castles. The night was a success.
