I always received OUTSTANDING service! I love stopping in to shop or see what’s new. I LOVE the small selection because that means there are only 4 others out there with the same article of clothing. Denise and her team are knowledgeable and take the time to listen to my needs and they also call me to let me know when something they know I will love arrives. I feel like a Queen every time I step through the door. Everything I purchase is worth the investment because it comes in the form of comfort, quality and compliments from strangers when I wear the pieces.

Just left this store after a minute and a half of horrible service. Don’t waste your time.

I have been into bombshell on a few occasions. Before I got married, I was able to buy a few outfits for my wedding showers that were adorable. I’ve been in a few other times, sometimes finding something, sometimes not. Was in around my birthday and got a little treat :) I now have a gift certificate I can’t wait to go use!

I’ve been to this store 3 times. I’ve wanted to love it, tried to like it, and am giving in to the fact it’s just not for me. I’m a huge fan of plus-size boutiques like Vive La Femme in Chicago or Re/Dress in Brooklyn. Sadly, Bombshell is not even comparable in its selection or its customer service. I’ll admit, although I regularly buy pieces from many of the designers they feature(common online stuff like Kiyonna, Igigi, etc) they tend to purchase pieces that are completely not my style. One of my visits involved the clerk nervously eyeing me the second I walked in and noted that their clientele is «more on the mature side» and basically said that all of their clothes would be too«old» for me. Super disappointing, yes, but I can’t fault them for that. However, my other visits involved one experience that was completely over-the-top in terms of pushy sales, or completely cold and rude even though I was literally the only person in the shop and was making eager chitchat about a piece I’d seen them post on their facebook page(although I’m glad I tried it on, because then I went and bought it online, on sale, for $ 80…instead of the $ 245 they had it marked). I kept visiting hoping that I would find SOMETHING I’d want to buy, but the selection coupled with the unnecessarily crappy service was the nail in the coffin. I had super high hopes for this place, but for now, I’ll stick to shopping the same brands online for less, and saving my cash for trips to VLF.

I’d really like to give this place 2.5 stars, but I’d rather err on the side of positivity because I really want this place to be successful. But right now, it’s just not for me. I’m a frequent customer of Fresh Ayer, the fabulous plus-size boutique outside of Philadelphia(sadly going out of business this weekend!) and I was hoping that Bombshell would be just as marvelous. I was disappointed. What I liked: Obviously, I’m grateful that a place like this exists at all. It’s such a treat to have a brick-and-mortar store with lots of beautiful clothes that fit me. It was great fun chatting with the other customers, seeing how things looked on them, getting ideas for things I’d like to wear. There are a lot of beautiful things here. What I didn’t: It happened that right now, most of what was in stock wasn’t my style. That’s fine; I’ve only been once, so I’m not sure if the taste of the owner isn’t in sync with mine, or if I just happen to not be a fan of this season’s selections. There were two issues that I found somewhat problematic, though, and as a result I don’t think I’d be likely to go back: High prices and a not-so-friendly atmosphere. Regarding the prices: I’m familiar with several of the lines that were on sale at Bombshell, and they were appropriately priced(little-to-no markup from what you’d pay buying directly from the designer online), so I don’t think the prices are unreasonable here. I do think that the owner has chosen to stock mostly higher-priced lines, with less emphasis on mid-priced lines like Kiyonna. I’m not complaining about this; it’s just not my price point. What I am complaining about was the surprisingly chilly reception we received from the owner. You know what they say that for every one negative interaction you need 7(or however many) positive interactions to make up for it? My experience at Bombshell was one slightly negative interaction after another: Telling my friend that she could only take four items into the changing room at a time, telling me not to lean on something because it might fall over and make a mess, complaining — after we decided not to buy anything — about how people«claim to want plus-sized clothes but aren’t willing to put down the money» for them. It added up to leave an unpleasant taste in my mouth. I will probably swing by again to see if the selection is more in line with my tastes in another season, but — unlike Fresh Ayer — I don’t think that Bombshell is going to become a significant stop on my shopping rounds.

I had a great experience here — both me and my mom, who have very different taste, found multiple pieces we liked. Mostly dresses, some blouses and a few skirts. They even had a couple of bathing suits! The saleswoman was very helpful and a really positive energy — made shopping fun! Like susan mentioned, the prices are what would keep me from going back very often. Also, we may have caught them at a bad time in their inventory, but a lot of items were only in one or two sizes. And I thought they had shoes? I didn’t see any. And of course — Grand Avenue parking. =P If you’re a plus-size girl in the TC and need a special occasion dress, definitely check this place out.

I heard reviews on the radio for this shop and just had to go. Denise the owner was very helpful and explained the different designers that are available. I did purchase a tan leather jacket, with detailed seams, along with a vintage one of akind necklace. Both purschase I am very pleased with. Designer clothing at designer prices was the only downfall.

Bombshell is the first and only(to my knowledge) boutique to carry exclusively plus-size clothing. And let me tell you, these clothes are fabulous! These are well-made, unique, stylish garments. And affordable: Most dresses were around $ 70, jeans around $ 120 and some items were a bit pricier but incredibly glamourous. The styles ranged from clingy cowl-neck tops, velvet, rhinestone-studded jeans, Mad-Men style pencil skirts, and some fancier-dresses. I took home a sexy rock-n-roll zip-front emerald green sweater dress($ 70) and some grey leggings($ 40). The atmosphere was beautiful but playful, the sound system softly cooed(Mumford and Sons), and there were lip-shaped chocolates at the counter. The owner, Denise, was oh-so delightful and attentive. So ladies, size 14 and up, get your fat a**es down to Grand Avenue and achieve that effortlessly alluring look you’ve been waiting for.
