I have been stopping at this caribou at least once a week for the past few years. I always order the same drink, but the last 2 times I’ve gone to this store I received rancid coffee. It’s a shame, because I am the biggest fans of this coffee. They where so bad that after 1 sip, I dumped them out. @ $ 5 each, I probably won’t be buying any more coffees if I’m going to end up dumping them. Left a voicemail with their corporate office, and will update if I hear back.

Most coffee is the same across locales so I’m more so reviewing for the accommodations. That said I really don’t like the coffee but this is one of my favorite study spots in the area. It’s one of the larger caribou locations since they repurposed an old fazoli’s restaurant(I think I’m remembering that right). I’m usually always able to find a table or seat available if needed. The staff always seems to be fairly cheery which is nice.

My drink was good, and the young ladies working were very pleasant. However the supervisor/manager who rang me up was rather short with me and unfriendly. She was sitting with some customers chatting and it was like I interrupted her by wanting to order a drink. When I asked for a dark roast brewed coffee she was not apologetic at all about being out and unwilling to make more. No problem lady, I don’t want to make you work but could you at least pretend you are disappointed you cannot or will not provide me with my first choice of beverage? Good thing I don’t frequent this part of town and that I’ve been to other locations and had great service — what an awful brand ambassador. If I’m mistaken and this woman is not a senior staff member here my apologies, and thank Goodness.

I don’t actually get coffee drinks from Caribou Coffee. I leave that to my Keurig at home. I have had their coffee beverages and they aren’t nearly as harsh as their main competitor. I won’t say the name I have for that company here. If you know me or my hubby, then you know what it is. What I do love about them is their variety of teas. I just realized yesterday that you can get the sparkling variety in a lower calorie version. These are MUCH better because they’re not nearly as sweet as the originals. We don’t normally stick around to sip our bevvies when we go there, yet when we do, it’s a nice place to relax a bit. During the warmer weather, we walk to/from Caribou as incentive to get in some fitness for the day. Caribou is consistent and I like that they do a fair bit for non-profit things. It’s nice to see a company give back to its customers in some fashion. They seem to be good corporate citizens, which is rare.

I like this Caribou because the Baristas in the Drive thru are super friendly and always give Teddi a bone. I like spending time inside but they close really early like at 7:30. The drive thru is open later but not the inside. Not sure why that is at this one. Most Caribous are open until 9. My fave drinks here are the Lemon/Ginger/Pom Iced tea or the Holiday Boo Drink that just ended…

So I feel a little strange reviewing a place I’ve never been inside of, but I’ve had enough positive experiences at the drive thru I wanted to chip in my 2 cents. Especially as I can be kind of hard on Caribou at times. As a generality, I’m not a fan of chain coffee shops, but this particular Caribou has won me over. The kids who work there(I have yet to see someone at the window who looks old enough to be in a bar, and maybe a few who could vote) are all very friendly, if at times over enthusiast, and they’ve consistently made my coffee/order right. If there’s a line at the drive thru they are able to move it along quickly, even when I can tell they’re busy inside too. Plus they always have treats for my dogs when they’re in the car with me.

I like the inside. The in and out traffic of this location can get hairy, but it’s still a good spot to grab a cup of Joe.

3 mile run every morning and I always ruin it with dark chocolate hot cocoa from Caribou. Vicious cycle, people. Yeah, the parking lot is a little strange and you have to drive kind of ass backwards to get to the drive through, but it usually zips along once you get there. Everyone at the window has been nice(you know, cause I’ve been here 3 times, OBVIOUSLY I’m an expert on the Robert Street Caribou Drive Thru) and efficient. Um…yup that is about it, cocoa, parking lot, drive thru expertise… and I’m done.

The coffee is hot and tasty. I have only ever used the drive through — but there is almost never a long wait. They pimp their baked goods pretty hard but that seems to be true of all the Caribou lately. Always service with a smile. My only grumble is how awkward it is to get into. I think it’s the Robert Street factor. Almost everything on Robert Street is hard to get into and out of. I keep hoping they will put a Caribou on the Southern end of Robert Street near the Petco and the Best Buy. It’s a bit of a haul to come to this one and Starbucks pisses me off which doesn’t leave many options. What I won’t do for my Turtle Mocha.
