sushi is not the best. Those«all you can eat» sushi buffets are better. Their regular food are okay… amateurish… home cook like. The beer is overpriced. Asian catered beer selection: Heineken, budlight, corona etc… not much variety

If I could give them a zero, I would. I ordered a takeout(papaya salad) please know that it was dead as shit in there. Papaya salad doesn’t take more than 3 minutes to make, 15 minutes into me waiting I got impatient and asked the waiter and he said they’ve «just» started working on it!!! Wtf? Another 15 minutes later they’ve finally brought me my papaya salad. Took a bite out of my papaya salad and let me tell you, it ain’t worth the 30 minute wait. SMH!

Hillcrest sushi boat @redwoksushi. -$ 60.00 −2.5÷5 stars for food −4÷5 stars for service –Sushi & food was decent. I repeat, do not get the phở. It was very bland, despite adding different spices and seasoning. Waitress was very kind and patient serving a party of 11. A little bit slow in getting our food out, even though it was not busy at all here. If you need some cheap sushi on the go then this will do. The manager was nice enough to come out and greet us at the end of our meal and had small talk.

I had a good time there. Service was great and food was delicious. I would say. go for the sushi. For their phở, I’m not a fan of it. So far, no complaint. There is 18% gratuity, fyi.

Every restaurant that has been in this place has failed. Maybe it’s cursed? They remodeled the old Rice Palace well. It looks and feels very welcoming. They’re trying to go for the hip, Asian, karaōke bar atmosphere, which may be a turn off for some. I don’t mind, as long as the food is good, but it’s not. I came in with my family. We ordered an abundance of food and beer hoping everything would taste good. The prices were pretty outrageous. They’re charging Sushi Tango prices for stuff that taste like Cub Foods sushi. Does spicy mayo and eel sauce come with every sushi roll out there now? I guess according to them, it does. The rolls are not tightly wrapped. My tuna and shrimp kept falling out every time I’d try to dip them. People have already told me not to eat the Phở here so I avoided it. We ordered some fried rice, which was saturated with oil and seasoning(did not taste good), some pad thai, which was also saturated with sugar and seasoning and also did not taste good. I wanted their Chinese broccoli and pork belly to taste good, but it too was drowned in soy sauce or whatever sauce the used and tasted very salty. I guess the only thing that tasted decent were their chicken wings. I was surprised they knew how to use a deep fryer. Wait, I take it back. The tempura we ordered looked like it was balled up, dipped in batter, and then thrown into the the deep fryer. It was not crispy at all. They used veggies cut thin(maybe it was to be used for garnish), and they stuck to each other like fly on fly paper. $ 4.50 for a domestic beer?!? It’s not downtown Minneapolis here. It’s the(ghetto) East Side. $ 2.50 a beer at Checkerbar. I see what they’er trying to do here. They’re trying to weed out the rift rafts to make room for the OGs that pass drinks around the table. Rumor has it, they’re going to expand to next door so they can host larger parties. I guess this place might be a decent hang out spot. I can’t picture myself going there very often. If they’re drink prices were cheaper, maybe. Update: 2÷9÷2016 Ok, so I thought I’d give it another shot. Staff is not trained well. We asked some easy questions about sushi and drinks like«Do you guys cater?» and«Do you have Miller Lite?». Staff could not answer. The waitress suggest we do separate tabs, which we complied, but in the end, it was all messed up. Oh and their sushi rolls still fell apart when I tried to dip them, but overall good. I would still rather come here than Sushi Tango if that makes you feel better.

We’ve been here three times and enjoyed the food each time. We are big fans of sushi and eat it often. I love the rolls and thought they made them well. Good ingredients, interesting flavors. If you are looking to compare to other sushi in the cities, Red Wok rates better than Sayi-Ya and Sushi Tango by leagues, IMHO. And Red Wok is less expensive. They serve some Thai noodle dishes, which we haven’t tried yet. We’ve always had very good service, so I’m not sure what happened when some of the reviewers went. It does take time with sushi, and sushi rolls. They are not pre made, so maybe that is part of the wait.

First review on Unilocal ever because it was that disappointing. I wanted it to be good so badly, but there were so many lows. I’ll admit, the sushi was decent. It was overpriced however, considering the careless presentation, lack of adequate dishes for soy sauce, and the poor service. The service, in particular was the worst. We waited 40 min after ordering for the first dishes to come out, and ever so slowly one by one. At our table, two ppl were eating and everyone else was still waiting for food. The music was also blasting outdated club songs and we had to basically shout to hear each other. I brought all of this to the attention of the owner, and he listened and gave us a discount. So I will still go back to give it another chance, but this restaurant needs to step up their game to win my loyalty.

I thought the food was ok. I don’t think i would go back. It’s too pricey and service was slow even though there were only 4 tables with customers(2 at each table including me and my guest). I went during lunch time. There was someone to seat you and one waiter working. The lunch menu says that all lunch comes with soup and house salad, so i figured we try that. I got the pad thai and a hillcrest roll. My guest had the pick any 3 rolls. I think that’s what it was. He got the soup, but no salad that the lunch came with. I got no salad, no soup. Just what i ordered. I don’t know if I was supposed to tell them i was having«lunch». The wait for the food took a while. I get that food is made to order, but there were only 4 tables with customers. My guest had to ask for more water. The host could at least get up and help the waiter out if he has nothing else to do. He came around once, but then left everything up to the waiter. All he was doing was sitting there on his phone. The sushi roll i had was ok. I thought it tasted like cub foods sushi, just slightly better. I did like how it was crunchy like the description says. Pricey for 8 pieces. Pad thai was ok too. Very sweet not too big of a portion. My guest’s food was ok too. Overall everything was just ok. It wasn’t AMAZING or anything. Maybe I should’ve gone during dinner? But then I have family memebers who went during dinner and said the phở wasn’t that great(very watered down flavor) that they didnt even eat it and only picked out the meat. My guest and i also asked about catering, because on the menu it says ask management about catering. The waiter said they don’t cater??? We were told that we can have group parties and prices are as shown on the menu. I was disappointed that there is no discount what so ever for having a big group(wanted to do a group of 30+). Oh well… maybe i will try again somwtime in the future.

All of their entrees are so flavorful! The sushi(created by master chef Fuji) is amazing. Their food is always fresh and karaōke is so fun!
