Rocco Altobelli Salons & Day Spas

I went to Rocco’s for the first time last week after hearing good things about them from multiple coworkers. I saw Jessica and she gave me a wonderful hair cut! She listened to what I wanted and made sure the outcome was exactly what I had in mind. I couldn’t be happier with my hair! I also purchased one of the Rocco products that has worked great. With that being said, my first impression of the actual salon was pretty disappointing. The girls at the front desk were not friendly at all, and seemed to lack in basic customer service skills that a front desk attendant should possess. The salon is also very dated and is in dire need of a facelift. When I am paying good money for a hair cut at a place that is considered a high end salon, I expect a certain experience. To be honest, I have seen salons in a Walmart that have nicer finishes (hate to say that!) The salon would benefit immensely from hiring a friendlier front desk staff and updating the overall appearance to reflect their brand.

I recently moved here and this salon was recommended to me. Today would have made my third visit to this salon and it was a 3 times a charm or three strikes your out appointment. My first two appointments I had color done with Kristen — she is amazing! I can’t say the same for the hair stylists (and I use that word loosely) that cut my hair. I have short hair and I explained to the person when booking my appointments that I wanted someone who was good with short hair. Both were not great and the second was really not great – I had to come in the following day because my sideburns were clearly crooked. The manager that was there on Saturday said she really couldn’t see it, but the very nice lady that fixed it did. The person who cut my hair was on break so she couldn’t come out and take care of it.
I had made an appointment when I was paying for my last services for today at 8AM – figured I’d get up early and be done by 10 and have the rest of my Saturday. I was called about three weeks later and told that both stylists that cut my hair previously had left the salon and moved on to other careers so they had rescheduled me with Leah.
I showed up this morning right before 8 and I check in and the young girl at the front desk tells me that Leah will be right with me. I explained that I should be seeing Kristen first for color – then I notice Kristen is already taking care of a client.
I asked who else could do the color now and the young girl said that Kristen could do it at 9:30. I explained that I got up at 6:30 to be there for my 8:00 appointment that I had made several weeks ago. Then she offered to have Leah cut my hair and I could wait until 9:30. Now, visualize that I am very upset and this young lady is smiling through this whole exchange – I told her that I really didn’t find any of this funny.
Another stylist came up and tried to help but really other than providing the service that I had scheduled was the only thing I wanted – seems fair.
I would never recommend this place and would recommend they provide better training to their staff to prevent this from happening. And maybe some conflict resolution training would be helpful.
Oh, and if I want to take more time out for this place I can call later and speak to the manager.
I would give 5 stars to Kristen but I need a place that has someone that can also cut my hair!

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. My first experience I called in advance made an appt and still waited over 20 minutes for a stylist. During our session the stylist was extremely quiet and made it known he was ready to be done for the day. The haircut was mediocre and the service left me feeling like he could care less if I came back. I decided to try a different stylist at the salon and made an appt. I waited 30 minutes for the stylist to finish up with another client. After 10 minutes into the session she had to excuse herself to recorrect another clients hair in addition to helping another stylist with her client. I waited another 15 minutes in her chair. She apologized and didn’t speak to me the entire session. Not sure what’s going on with the stylists but I will not be going there ever again. The staff at the front was great and friendly but that’s all the love we got.

I absolutely love this place! Since I moved to the twin cities it has been real hard to find somewhere I’m happy with. Angela cuts my hair and kristen colors my hair. These ladies are amazing! Jamie has done my hair to and has given me the best head massage ever while washing my hair. I have also gotten eyebrows waxed and tinted, which looked real nice! This place offers yearly a good liter sale on shampoo and conditioner. I love buying there products! I have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is beautiful!

They do amazing work. I went to a different Rocco’s years ago, but stopped going because I couldn’t afford it for a while. I started doing my hair myself or getting it done at one of the cheap low quality places and damaged my hair. I have thin hair that gets damaged easily and they have nursed my hair back to health after I started going back here again. I would recommend Ashley for anyone that is blonde she’s the best! The only reason they don’t get five stars is because some of the receptionists can be rude sometimes.

Have had several appointments at this salon with mediocre results for which I paid WAY too much. Last time, I had to take a different hair cutter because the person who had been cutting my hair was gone. The new girl was sold to me as an experienced stylist and what I got was a total hack job. It is uneven, won’t style and just plain looks awful. I could have had a better cut if I’d done it myself. I am so fed up with telling a hair dresser what I don’t want and then have them go straight to doing exactly that I could cry. Total rip-​off.
