I participated in a free class here with a girlfriend who had just gotten engaged and wanted to start working out more before the big day. While I was not new to yoga, I *was* new to the studio and like many studios, St. Paul Yoga Center offers a free class for newbies to get a taste. We signed up for a very basic/beginners level class since my friend had not been to yoga in years and the personal attention we received was great. Especially for my friend who has had many(MANY) knee surgeries, the instructor was great at offering modifications and getting hands-on for adjustments. One thing to note: there are two studios at this center with two separate entrances so be sure to check which studio your class is being held in. You can reserve your space online and it will tell you. It seems as though the one they place the free/donation-based classes in tends to have the most accidental walk-ins from the street — which is bad enough if you’re trying to relax, but even worse if it’s ten below zero degrees outside and a fresh gust of cold air comes rushing in every time someone opens the door! That being said, this died down quite a bit once the class officially began(we started late to wait for others who had reserved spaces but were running behind)…I think a handful of the folks who walked in were actually trying to go to the other studio. ll-in-all, it was a nice, casual-seeming space where we were able to get a good, restorative stretch in early on a Saturday. Following that up with some brunch and celebratory mimosas across the street(Pizza Luce) was a perfect way to have some bonding/girl time.

I used a voucher to check this place out. The ambiance of the location is nice and you don’t hear too many cars pass by. It’s the only yoga place I have gone to try, but I like it. The teachers are great and the variety of classes is good.

I heard about St. Paul Yoga Center’s «donation» class(pay what you can, all levels welcome) quite a while ago but never checked it out until today. I’m so glad I finally did! I was worried that I was a bit«advanced» in my yoga practice for this class(even though it said all levels were welcome) due to the large quantity of props we all had to pull out of the closet. But it was fun to learn new things. By the end of class, I got a nice workout, relaxed, and felt thoroughly stretched out. I’ll be back!
