This was my lunchtime respite from work and I can’t recommend it enough. They provide some excellent choices for lunch – salad, wraps, pizza, or a hummus plate. Very good coffee, and baked goods delivered daily. Friendly people with a contemporary/industrial atmosphere! Although I no longer work in the area, I will definitely be back!

You got it, Workhorse. Delicious coffee(not cheapest but expected), beautifully designed space, plentiful tables and outlets, free/fast wifi, COMFIESTCOFFEESHOPCHAIRS, no overbearingly loud music, easy enough parking, reasonably priced food if I need it(love the option of a $ 5 pizza or $ 7 grilled cheese and soup — not just pastries). One of my favorite coffee shop work locations so far in the Twin Cities.

Came on New Years Day, nice cozy spot. Had the turkey and cheese, and chocolate croissant, very good. Also had a small latte with soy milk extra hot and it was strong and actually hot just the way I like it! Cheers to this place!

LOVETHISPLACE. It’s run by a brother and sister, who are so experienced and knowledgable in the coffee business. there are tons of options, and the croissants are delicious and varied enough so that there’s something for everyone. the atmosphere is very friendly and bright, and the coffee is delicious as well. reasonably priced(cheaper than Starbucks and most«typical places») and you get a lot of bang for your buck!

I’ll start this off by saying that I really like the coffee here, and the owner is great — very welcoming and warm to customers. This is a great place to go to when it’s not busy. However, if there are more than, say, 5 – 6 people in this small space, the acoustics are absolutely horrendous. I’ve gotten headaches from just sitting in the space for more than 10 – 15 minutes, and have taken friends here and they requested to leave instead of stay. There are probably some straightforward things that could be done to dampen the acoustics here, that would be amazing. Great business, otherwise.

I’ve made this my new go-to coffee place. The best vibe for getting some work done or meeting a client. The coffee is perfect, and the staff is equal parts knowledgeable, friendly and down to earth.

A very clean coffeeshop that serves perfectly executed espresso beverages that are beautiful and taste wonderful. I’m normally just a coffee drinker but Workhorse is my new favorite place to order espresso beverages because they are just perfect. I’ve had great salads and wraps too. Ice water is provided in carafes you can just bring to your table – I always drink water with my coffee. The space is elegant in it’s industrial, utilitarian simplicity. Large tables with backed stools invite a communal sharing of space and friendly conversation. Highly recommended.

Love this place. Their espresso is top shelf. The quality is right up there with dogwood or spy house. I would say what makes me love this place most however is the wonderful service. The baristas are friendly and the owner is especially kind. She gives you that vibe you get from a favorite aunt who actually likes you. Plus, who doesn’t love horses.

This place is wonderful. I’m not sure I’ve met a friendlier coffee shop, and I plan to come back often! Great place to meet friends or clients, or to get some work done on your own. Coffee and pastries were both top notch. Love the smallest museum just outside the front door too :).

It’s got some affectations, but it does have great coffee with decent(but not great) baked goods. Very industrial inside(Workhorse, get it), with uncomfortable stools and steel tables(those 1950 types, not your Ikea Stainless). Really fine coffee. Baked goods are good, but not awesome. Free wifi.

I live in the neighborhood and walked down this morning. This was my first visit to Workhorse Coffee Bar and will NOT be my last — truly couldn’t say enough great things about my experience. First and foremost, the atmosphere is incredible! I love the industrial décor. The owner, Ty, was so warm and friendly, I immediately felt like I was talking to a good friend. That is a touch you’ll never get at a Starbucks. I ordered an iced mocha and it was the best one I’ve ever had! Also, the pastries are delicious. The moment I walked out the door I could not wait to get home so I could write a raving review and that isn’t something that happens often. Absolutely new my favorite space in the city.

Enjoyed a delicious European style cappuccino. It came with a little glass of pellegrino and an Italian chocolate. The barista was inviting and friendly and the atmosphere was calm and warm but not too quiet. Great coffee shop!

Green Line you did it again! Another dead industrial nearly useless corner gets a lift with an outstanding Coffee Bar as Workhorse. Here is where spartan interior works, giving it an art house clean look. There is local art displayed and for sale and it just stands out better on the large plain walls. There is a nice selection of treats and made fresh sandwiches. I had my usual dark roast and loved it’s robust tingle. The prize was the Mediterranean Chicken Wrap. Just the right amount seasoning with soft pita and packed full. The barista is talkative and friendly and helpful. She delivered the coffee to my table because she filled the cup to nearly overflow and didn’t want me to lose a drop evidently, well geez I’m not using a walker, but I appreciate the concern. I could hear her talking to other customers in a spirited friendly manner. There is another gem in the area and I hope this one lasts as this area builds in population and businesses.

Outstanding? I’m just questioning it because I’ve always had to travel a bit to get to a top 5 type coffeehouse in the TC. But this one’s right in my neighborhood. Super friendly baristas(took my mocha to my table for me), beautiful space, delicious espresso drinks. Also, I visited late one evening near closing time and one of the owners was doing an extremely detailed and precise teaching session with another barista. She also was happy to take the time to answer some of my own questions about making espresso. Could be my new favorite coffee spot.

St. Paul, you tricky minx. Trying to seduce everyone over there with your schmancy new coffee shops and high-performing school districts and beautiful/affordable homes. Well, I don’t need seducing — I love you already, STP. You know this. In general, I could not be happier to see new businesses opening up on University Ave. again(that light rail construction was bleak). And Workhorse is a perfect addition to St. Paul’s collection, right off the Raymond station. They serve great coffee, have a beautiful brick-and-timber space and are working on curating the smallest museum in the city, which must be such a fun project. I like that they aren’t just about coffee and sandwiches and such — there’s a very friendly, community vibe to the place. I’ll be back, often, armed with my laptop as usual.

Thanks for coming to our neighborhood! The coffee is excellent, the space is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. I’m here for the second time and now they have a nice selection for lunch. Soup, croissant sandwiches, salads and pizza. I got the special: croissant grilled cheese and baked potato soup for $ 7. The flavors in the soup are well balanced and the little bacon crumble is so satisfying. The croissants are just the right texture. Great meal at a modest price point.

I stopped by Workhorse last week when I was a little early to pick my friend up from the LRT station. I had no idea that this coffee shop was there, as it turns out, that was because it just opened. I ordered a cappuccino, and it was truly delightful. I liked the décor and the feel of the place, and the barista was so friendly. The cappuccino came with a little bit of fizzy water as a palate cleanser, as well as a chocolate filled candy(I think?) that was a tasty treat. My friend ordered the chai latte when she got there, and enjoyed that as well. I will definitely be back!

Coffee crafted for the coffee drinker! The owner is VERY serious about how she buys coffee, where it is sourced, how it is locally roasted for the right flavor and freshness. Lots of good choice that aren’t coffee(I enjoyed the hibiscus/mint iced tea, for example) and great seating. Wonderful people visiting, and great location just off the Raymond Green Line station.
