I have a side by side Kenmore refrigerator that is almost 20 years old. Works fine but today the ice maker stopped making ice. I called several repair shops and got totally mixed advice. One said need to clean the water filter(such an old unit doesn’t even have a filter). another sounded like they need to replace ice maker. Best one said need to replace the Water Inlet Valve and they could order it in. Not much on the net for fixing old appliances, but I did find our how to remove the Water Inlet Valve. Got name of JL’s as a place that might have the valve in stock. Spoke with Gary Lawrence and he said bring in the part and he would test it. I did that and he showed that the value worked fine. He suggested I remove the ice maker unit(3 simple screws) and bring that in to test. He had a lot of like new used units that would work. When I went home and removed the ice maker, I was able to clearly see the the water tube that feeds the water into the unit was filled solid with frozen water. A simple inspection revealed that two screws on the back allowed the tube to easily slide out. Dipped in warm water and a minute or two later and the hose was cleared of ice. Screwed it back in; screwed the ice maker back. Called Gary. He said just to be patient because the unit only cycled every 45 minute and then it took another hour to freeze the ice and expel it. Impatient though I may be, I listened to Gary. Several hours later and lo and behold the ice bucket has started to fill up with fresh ice. After some simple diagnosis, one item at a time and some great advice, my ice unit works perfect and it cost me absolutely nothing. I have to buy Gary some lunch or a bottle of his favorite adult beverage. You are a great guy Gary… and wow do you know your stuff. A shining star of an honest business surrounded by hoards of many that simply would have sent our a service man with all new parts and replace stuff for lots of money that didn’t need to be replaced. I worked 20 years in the consumer protection section of the Oregon Dept of Justice and never met such and honest businessman in an industry that filled with guys that would take you at the drop of a dime. Way to go Gary! You deserve a solid five stars. Great Job!

Just moved to Salem and needed a washer dryer. I bought one over the phone and it seems to be working fine. I will update review to 5 stars once I have used the W/D for a few months. I like the $ 39 delivery and setup since I know nothing about washer dryers and don’t have the required equipment or muscle to transport them. Very convenient and helpful thanks Dale and Sal

Fantastic!!! Took our«Convection Microwave» in to JL’s Appliance Repair on Edgewater around 1:00 p.m. and had it back by 3:00 p.m. Now that is quick service. The staff were very busy when we arrived but they took the time to have a staff person come from the back to get our microwave out of the car and in to the shop. We are extremely pleased customers.
