This was my first time here and I was not impressed. They acted irritated when I said I didn’t want the subs Mike’s Way, but wanted to customize them. Instead of completing one sub at a time, they kept switching back and forth, making it hard for me to remember how each person wanted his sandwich. They had to go to the back to add brown mustard. The quality of the meat was good, but they soaked the subs with so much oil and vinegar that the bread disintegrated while I was trying to eat it. I think I’ll try somewhere else next time. Big Town Hero is just as good and the people are nicer. Or maybe I’ll try Firehouse Subs – haven’t been there yet.

The staff is terrible. Very unwelcoming and does not ask any specifics about your order. I wanted two different kinds of meat on my sandwich and it was my first time in, I asked the woman if I could have another meat and she told me it was an extra charge(told her I was willing to pay the extra charge). She then proceeded to make the sandwich, all the while greeting another customer behind me, so I was left waiting till she handed me off to the next person beside her. At the same time I was wondering why she didn’t ask me what other meat I wanted and figured that she’d ask when she went to switch out on the slicer. Well she never changed meats and just had the roast beef(which is fine), but what got to me was I wasn’t able to ask her about the mix up because she was already onto the next customer. The next lady to help just ushered to a platform with covered containers and bottles filled with stuff and asked if I wanted anything. What was anything? Hell I didn’t even want to ask questions anymore. The sandwich itself is not the best either. Jimmy johns or subway treats you better than this place. Review has been edited: Owner reached out to me about the service and was very apologetic. Respect to the owner.

Stop back to do their sandwich’s again. I was given free sandwich coupons to reconsider my prior review. Well this time everything was on the money. By that I mean, much letter looking sandwich, like the one you see on there commercials. Salad station for building the sandwich was clean and not over run with other ingredients into each other. New business needs time to fix problems. Hard openings to the public can be difficult.

Cheap meat, okay tasting bread, no avocado, and overpriced. The way they had us move through the line was confusing. They had us choose our number, skip the veggies, and go straight to paying before sending us back to get veggies chosen for our sandwiches. We will never go back. Just not worth it when there are plenty of great sub places here in Salem.

Came here a while back now for my moms birthday and they had great service! She had received a free birthday drink and sub, which could simply be tossed together like subway or something but this was far better! Her sandwich was well made and accommodated what she could and couldn’t have easily. Since then we have ordered take out twice and it has been great! The salads aren’t what you would expect since they use the sandwich lettuce, but still good. They haven’t messed up an order once and it is far better than jimmy johns or subway! The quality matches the expectation unlike the others.

The food seems really overpriced for the product: mediocre at best deli sandwiches. Order was messed up twice even after being confirmed by me twice. The buns are basically puffed air. TVs were distracting and obnoxious, but I’m not a fan of TV anyway. Probably won’t be dining here again. $ 17.59 for two people to eat here. ***UPDATE:** Added two stars because manager reached out and apologized. I appreciate that.

We walked into the new Jersey Mike’s Subs(#32010) in South Salem. It is a good sandwich and … salad. We had the regular #16 Chicken Philly Cheese Steak(grilled chicken, onions, and peppers /$ 7.45) and #13 The Original Italian(ham, prosciutto, capicola, salami, provolone cheese, and pepperoni as a Sub-in-a-Tub /$ 8.25). They sliced the deli meats and cheeses in front of us, and all of the fixings look fresh. The employees were friendly and courteous. The dining room and men’s room were neat and clean. We will return. Three Stars.

All I’ve ever eaten is the #13 Italian sandwich(their original), but it’s great and I’ve been back about 10 times to order it. Yes it takes a little longer because each of the 4 – 5 Italian meats requires being pulled out of the deli case and sliced fresh, but would you rather they use old pre-sliced cold cuts? In my experience the bread is good(if a bit dry, at least for the whole wheat roll) and the meats are high quality. The oil and vinegar that they drown the sandwich in(which you can ask them NOT to do, it’s called«Mike’s Way») helps with the dryness of the bread. The folks working there are a little over-friendly some times, but I figure that’s their shtick so I’m ok with it. Anyway, I recommend you try their #13 regular sized Italian hoagie. It’s about $ 8 and tastes delicious to me. They have plenty of parking, and the line isn’t usually too long, unless you go right at noon.

First time at this new Salem location. It wasn’t busy on a Friday evening, which was nice… as we walked right up and ordered! Both my hubby and I love love LOVE their sandwiches, so don’t listen to the haters out there. Bread is fresh and they give ample toppings without question. I’d suggest adding a few more topping options, but then again, we all don’t want them to be Subway. Their giant subs are actually GIANTS… well worth the $ 12 or so each. Staff was super friendly and efficient when we went. We’ll be back!

Not good at all. The bread was bland, the cheese was bland, and the roast beef was… bland. Very slow service, even though they weren’t busy and had four people working behind the counter. Go to Jimmy Johns, subway, really anywhere but here, if you want a sandwich with flavor.

So… I spent 13.9inteysomething BS on a roast beef turkey joke. There were 8 pieces of thinnnnnn meat and cheese. I’d rather eat at subway… JJ is half the cost and worth the drive. Disgusting waste of $ 30 to feed the family. Also… The«loud mouth» guy rolled his eyes when I politely asked him to take half a pound of lettuce off of my kids sub.

I grew up in NJ and these sandwiches brought back a flood of memories! These are TRUENJ subs 100%. Even down to the proper bread. I will be back!

Great subs, friendly crew and very busy for lunch but they move one through fast. Only thing I wonder about is how clean is the slicing machine and the prep. area.

Is this what New Jersey sandwiches are like? If so, that’s why the state is the joke of the nation. Chewed n’ glued meat and pasteurized processed cheese ‘product’ is what awaits you here. Seriously – worse than subway, a junk joint that at least provides junk sandwiches at at reasonable price. For the love of God– if you have ANY idea what constitutes a good sandwich, you won’t be seen here.

Not bad, but still no Togo’s. Way too much bread, not enough pastrami. I guess Salem is the capital of mediocre $ 8 sandwiches as well as being the state capital. Pastrami had good taste but there just wasn’t too much on it. I give up!

Really good food. Loved the sandwiches. Really slow service. Waited 10 minutes after I ordered my sandwich to get my sandwich. I ordered a hot one and the cold sandwiches looked to be coming out much quicker. Still quite frustrating to wait so long. Also, they messed up my order. Still tasty but they aren’t very polished on the service aspect.
