It was… OK. As others have stated, it’s the Subway of pizza places. I went with a «make your own» and while I was satisfied with my choices, I found the pizza to be quite bland – by pizza standards. What I was not satisfied with was the sauce person. I watched her painstakingly try to spread out one tablespoon of sauce, as if she was afraid to add more. When she was finished, the sauce was 4 inches from the edge, so I relieved her stress by asking for more. She happily obliged. Anyway, the pizzas are pretty cheap, but they aren’t all that filling. The crust is thin, which I like, but it’s so thin that it hardly held up to my minimal toppings. I saw people with toppings 6 inches high – I can only wonder how they picked up a slice to eat it. At any rate, if you LOVE pizza and are positively starving, one of these pizzas won’t be enough. Get two, or one pizza and one salad. All the above being said, this is not a «destination» kind of place. I think it’s great to take your kids to(which will be the only reason I return), but it’s not great for a couple of adults who want quality, filling pizza.

I have eaten at the new MOD(Made-On-Demand) Pizza in South Salem five times now, and each time the service was fast and friendly, the dining area, drink station, and rest rooms were clean and stocked, and all and all a very positive dining experience. I have been enjoying the MOD-sized(11-inch) «Tyler» style pizza(Tyler: MOD Red Sauce, Mozzarella cheese, Canadian Bacon, Pepperoni, Bacon, and Pineapple with(after baking) a BBQ sauce swirl. Hot and Delicious! Four Stars.

THE Subway for pizza. It’s «make your own way» sorta thing. Went just after 1pm, and it was still fairly busy. So you line up, and think about what pizza you want to create. They also give you pre-selected #‘d options if your brain can’t handle all the choices. I got the number 8, minus the chicken. It had buffalo sauce, and I added extra cheese(still not cheesy enough, lesson learned). Within 8 minutes of it being made, they call your name and you can go pick it up hot and fresh. Why only 3 stars? I thought the crust was subpar and hard on the edge and soft in the middle(prolly a result of their quick baking technique). I went with Erin H., and she mentioned it’d be a great place to bring kids… because the cost is excellent and the«Subway» method used can be «fun» if you’re into that sorta thing. They do not have enough seating inside, as we had to fight for a table. Literally. Located just next to Jersey Mikes, which I love… so was wishing had gone there after we left… but a certain Erin H HATES that place, so oh well. Whatever! Would I return here? I have no clue… but most likely not. And btw ALL, yes ALL the customers were Salem Hipsters. Didn’t know that was such a big thing now. OHMY.

It’s like subway but for pizza! The pizza crust was really thin but the toppings are good ! It just depends if you like thin or thick crust on your pizza. I would go back once in awhile just so I could get a fast food pizza basically, but wasn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t go back everyday for pizza.

I love the atmosphere at MOD! It’s totally different compared to other pizza places here in Salem. The pizza is super tasty and I love that they have Gluten Free options and salads. Another plus is how they have a flat rate for their pizzas so you can add as many toppings as you’d like with no additional charge. My only bad encounter was watching a staff member roll her eyes at another coworker while making my pizza which made things a little awkward. Overall everyone seems very friendly and like they’re having a fun time!

Good stuff. Thanks for the gluten free option. This is our 1st choice for pizza nowadays. It’s less of a gut bomb than other places around town(looking at you Paddington’s) and manages to be fairly affordable too

We tried this place for the first time, today. It was midweek, just after the lunch rush, and they were moderately busy. The service is fast and friendly, and the unique concept is clearly explained by the menu board and the workers(basically you pay the same regardless of which or how many toppings). Everything is prepared from ingredients right in front of you, and your pizza is cooked on demand in only a couple of minutes. The quality of ingredients was decent — and so was the amount of toppings(although they were a bit skimpy on the tomato sauce). The pizza crust is nice and thin but it would have needed a smidge more time in the oven to be crispy. This is definitely thin crust pizza, not really«New York» style. We paid $ 28 and change(before tip) for two 11″ pizzas(that’s the regular size, there’s also a smaller 6″ mini size), two salads, and two sodas. Overall the food quality and prices are what you would expect in the area for a mid-level sit-down restaurant, except this place is a notch below given that you pick up your food at the counter and you bus your own tables(they have three different holes for separating your trash and as is sadly typical, without examples or instructions nobody has a clue what goes where, for instance the plastic cup lids say«compostable» but who notices?) The interior is plain, airy, modern, and industrial looking, no fake pizza/Italian décor(thankfully). There’s adequate parking in a lot behind the building, which is part of a new mini-mall with other chain restaurants and stores — nothing local. I probably won’t run right back again, but at the same time, decent Pizza isn’t that easy to come across in Salem, so I’m sure I’ll be back sometime!

LOVEMODPIZZA! I found it for the first time in Seattle then lo and behold, a few months later they open one in Salem! Such great service every time, amazing pizza, and oh my gosh the cinnamon sticks… so good. Also try their Marion raspberry lemonade. It’s the best!

Salem, OR: Consistent great service! This was my third lunch visit and have had great, friendly service consistently every time! FOOD Gluten free 11″(regular): mozzarella, pepperoni, crumbled meatballs, olives, roasted garlic Mini(6″): extra pesto sauce, grilled chicken/canadian bacon/sausage, pineapple, mushrooms, roasted garlic; chopped basil, olives, fresh spinach, asiago, mozzarella, feta Regular Iced Tea Chocolate milk shake Love the custom, «build your own» pizza process. A friendly shout out welcomes you as you enter. Then when you step up to the counter, you’re asked size preference of crust. An additional $ 2 is charged for a gluten free option(available only for regular 11″ size). Then begins the addition of your topping choices, starting with the sauce, and ending with final gourmet cheeses. They were very gracious when I would request something from the beginning of the assembly line when I was already at the end. Definitely worthy of return visits!

Good pizza– love that you can choose ingredients and how much. Salad lettuce a little wilted, but good to choose ingredients here, also. Recommend this place.

If I could give this place 20 stars I would. This place reminds me of chipotle but with pizza! It’s really awesome that you have so many toppings to choose from. And they move pretty fast as well. The pizza is like a flatbread but so delicious! I usually don’t like flat bread pizza but this is really good. The pricing is great too! Me and my husband paid 21 dollars for two mod pizzas and breadsticks. The staff is friendly and quick. This place is so cool. I’d keep coming here.

The pizza is good, but I was disappointed to see how one of their female employees was disrespectful to me, a deaf customer. A female employee let out a dramatic sigh and rolled her eyes at me as I gestured to her that I was deaf, after she tried to speak to me, as if I was intentionally refusing to communicate. It is not my fault that I am profoundly deaf and unable to speak at all. I did not deserve that disrespectful response from this employee, who clearly does not understand how to work with customers with disabilities. I typed on my iPhone to let her know that if she needs to communicate with me that she needs to not sigh and roll her eyes at me. She became angry then left her work station to complain about me, in front of me. She was just making it worse for herself, embarrassing herself, and disrespecting me further. The other employees seemed uncomfortable and wasn’t sure what to do as she kept on complaining. I asked to talk to the manager. I was not directed to the manager, but to another employee who could finger-spell a little bit and not sign very well. That employee was nice and called the manager over to talk to me. I appreciated that. The manager, the employee whose signing was very rusty, and I talked via writing back and forth. They were nice, respectful, and trying to make it right. They were very apologetic and gave me a free meal. However, that does not solve the problem. I do sincerely hope that the manager will talk to the disrespectful employee and that employee will treat other customers with disabilities better. The food is awesome but I honestly do not feel comfortable coming back to a place who hired an employee who thinks it’s okay to treat a customer like that.

Upon entry into MOD pizza the employees were anticipating my arrival and all said hello in unison. It was nice to know they acknowledge everyone who enters. The menu is expansive with the option to customize or «Mod» anything. Pretty cool! I appreciate that the employees who were in direct contact with food were wearing gloves, but I noticed an employee touch his face and did not re-wash their hands and put on new gloves. From order to receipt of my pizza it was a matter of 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Insanely fast for pizza! The flavor was great on the BBQ chicken pizza with Gorgonzola cheese, better known as «the Caspian.» Overall: fast pizza, great flavor, I would come back. But please ensure the employees are washing hands and not touching their faces. Thanks!

Just like the Mod pizza in Seattle. Unlimited toppings and sauces. Tasty and quick. Crowded on a Monday night in Salem! Who knew anyone went out after dark! They had the roller doors open so there was a few uninvited flies buzzing around. All in all a great place with good food and service.

Wow! Visiting Salem again. All I can say is I do NOT go around giving five stars out to just anyone. This chain pizza place opened I. Seattle apparently in the late 2000s and has expanded to locations in Oregon and California. When I heard it was a «quickly prepared» pizza I thought, no thank you, microwave Pizza. WRONG! Basically you choose the size and toppings you want on your pie(think Subway) as far as choice. The pizza’s are then blasted in an 800 degree f oven for no longer than four minutes. They also have amazing salads to choose from. Best Caesar I have ever had(I ate there 7 times in less than a week)!! It’s crispy, absolutely delicious and a mini costs under five bucks, medium under eight. Salads are extremely reasonable too! You will not be sorry. There is one in Irvine on Alton Parkway. Give it a try! I would give it six stars if I could! I thought Amici’s Pizza in the Bay Area was my favorite.(still is, but now it’s an even tie)!!

I love this pizza place! Yes, they are busy in most night and weekends but the staff is excellent! I really like how I can create the pizza of my dreams here, and I have! The milkshakes are very good as well. I think it’s great that the pizza comes with one price and they don’t charge for extra toppings! The pizza is done within 5 minutes, nice crispy crust but not too crispy. Perfect pizza, great price and fun environment!

This place is awesome! I showed up and it was packed! The workers got people through the line quickly, yet I never felt rushed. The pizza also was cooked very quickly. Can’t beat the price for build your own pizza, any toppings you want for one low price and it’s filling! The garlic strips were disappointing, I don’t recommend those as all.

Very nice change of pace and style for a very fast specialized pizza. Loved being able to pick out ingredients and have a quality pizza completely done so fast. It is a very thin crust style. so not my favorite that way, but speed, freshness, flavor and options will keep me coming back. I am very glad another high quality place like this opened up on South Commercial.
