The owner was very uppity when he spoke and it was almost as if he was patronizing my friend when we visited because he did not carry what my friend was looking for. We understood and respected that they did not carry what we were looking for but telling my friend to «Put on a few pounds before coming back» and carrying on about how his suits were for men with serious business was just flat out rude. Especially after we stated clearly from the beginning that we were looking for something for a wedding. Why he brought business looks into it we have no idea. We just wanted to shop local but after that encounter we don’t think it’s too good of an idea to return there.

Fantastic service! I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown trying to find a tux for my fiancé for our wedding. We went to numerous other men’s wear stores which shall remain nameless and their prices for a rental were ridiculous. We were thinking about just buying a suit at Nordstrom and our friends there recommended Shryock’s. We were greeted immediately, we told him what we were looking for, he took measurements and found exactly what we needed at an incredibly reasonable price! There is a reason they have been around Salem for 60 years!

Another great experience here. Many many years ago my husband rented his tux here when we got married. It was perfect! So he came back to rent a suit for our daughters wedding. He especially appreciated the quick fitting and it was a perfect fit when he picked it up. Thank you!

I’ve been buying men’s clothing from Shryock’s for more than 25 years. Seems hard to believe, but they’ve always had what I needed and have been a pleasure to work with. Support this independent clothier and make an effort to avoid the chains & the big boxes. There is still exceptional value for the money and you don’t have to go far to find it.

One has a lot of expectations for the only independent menswear store in a capital city, and one which claims to adhere to old traditions. Shryock’s salesmen did a great job of not being overly pushy while still letting me know what styles they thought would look good. They also knew a lot more about tailoring than your average chain store — knew just by looking at me that with my shorter frame, more would have to be done to the pants than a simple hem. The only reason they aren’t rated a 5 is that I walked in looking for a brown suit(they had almost none in stock). I actually really like(and need) the blue suit they sold me, but I am still making a brown suit from them my next purchase, assuming this blue one wears well over time.
