This store is a smaller store than some, but it’s plenty big for Salem. Came here with some kids and I thought the store was a bit messy and the shelves seemed a bit bare in some areas. And of course the prices were a tad higher than other stores. But I didn’t think it was that bad. But the employees were still all very friendly and helpful. I had been in here before a few times for some video game sales and every time service was excellent. They just need more employees cleaning and straightening the shelves up.

Seems too small — but yet filled with a lot of crap. Oh well. I loved this place as a kid, as I imagine most kids do. But once into adulthood, you see the«true» Toys R Us” — and its not as fun. They have a decent LEGO selection… but their prices are still too high. But what am I saying, everything at Toys R Us costs more than any other store. Duh. The cashiers though usually seem happy to be there, which is a shock.

Do you remember what it was like to be a kid and really, really want something? Nothing else matters until you get the next piece of your collection. I’ve gone through all the stages: Little People, Thomas the Tank Engine, Pokemon and Lego Star Wars. Now the latest must have is called Gormiti. When I told my son that we couldn’t go shopping last weekend because his dad and I would be out of town, that didn’t stop him. He went on and started scouting locations. Then he drew a map. This kid is totally his mother’s son. This location(yes, we went!) is just like all the others I’ve seen. Which means understaffed and a bit messy. For years, I had a Toys R Us credit card so we used to shop at their stores a lot. I rotate no annual fee credit cards based on our current lifestyle and at the time I decided getting money back on diapers and toys was probably a better idea than saving up for a kayak at REI. The toy selection and service — I’ve seen much better. I’d rather go to a small local place. The reason they get three stars is because of the perks of their membership program and the credit card totally saved Mr. K’s butt. When you rent a car, check your credit cards to see which one offers the best liability coverage. Way back when, Toys R Us provided full insurance so we would decline what was offered by the rental company. There was a parking incident which resulted in hundreds of dollars of repair bills overseas. Toys R Us/Chase Bank totally came through, so they have my eternal gratitude.
