216 Ferraro’s

The food was the best, starting with the salad to the tiramisu. You don’t leave hungry and the price was right! Make sure to make reservations or you may not have luck, on a Tuesday night they had to turn down lots of folks at the door. We won’t skip this place when we come back to Salida.

Service was spot on, and the meal was decent. Wine choices were good, it was a great pairing with the meal. Kids loved their noodles, which were perfectly cooked. The small plate choices all sounded awesome, we ended up with 3! Pricey, but that’s typical for finer dining in the mountains.

Our waiter Josh was amazing. Totally personable and polite. We had the beef lasagna and the shrimp scampi linguini. Both were outstanding with the lasagna being some of the best we’ve ever had.
Will definitely recommend to our friends and will visit again to try other items on the menu

Excellent meals for both my husband and I. My chicken Picatta was prepared without flour as I requested with veggies on the side instead of pasta — no problem! My husband’s pasta was excellent with an amazing tomato sauce. He loved the sourdough bread and bought an extra loaf to take home. As a long time San Francisco resident he is picky about his bread. Buying a loaf is a big compliment! Service was great even though busy. We will definitely be back!

My dinner was superb!!! Keith, the bartender, was excellent and entertaining. The chicken I ordered was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Definitely recommended.

I dined at 216 Ferraro’s this past Saturday. My mother and I didn’t have a reservation, but ended up only having to wait an hour to be seated. The restaurant had 8 – 9 tables, so I was happy that the super friendly hostess squeezed us in! We walked down the river and grabbed a drink at another place while waiting.
Once we came back to the restaurant, we were seated immediately. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay per the server’s recommendation, as the restaurant was out of all of the other bottles we wanted. The Chardonnay ended up being super tasty (I can’t remember which one it was). To start, we had Oysters Rockefeller, which were delicious and baked perfectly. Salads followed– the Caesar was pretty good.
For our entrees, we ordered the stuffed Colorado trout. I was debating ordering a straight Italian pasta dish or the trout, but since we were in Salida right by the Arkansas River, I felt inclined to get the trout. I usually eat trout with potatoes and vegetables, so this was a bit of a branch out for me. All in all, the trout was pretty good, but if I could go back, I maybe would have chosen another dish. The trout was stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, cheese. onions, and garlic and topped with a light tomato sauce. A side of 216 Ferraro’s homemade pasta came on the side. It was definitely a tasty dish, I just prefer my trout with a light seasoning versus having tomato sauce on it.
On a side note, the bread was FRESH and GREAT!!! Our server was also wonderful and made our dining experience top-​notch.
The ambiance of the place is small, dimly lit, and super intimate. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

Awesome, romantic ambiance. I had the meat lasagna, my wife the chicken picatta. Both were mouthwateringly amazing. Good, fresh Caesar salad and fresh bread. We’ll be making a stop here every time we come to Salida.

After our hike up Mt. Antero to dig for Aquamarine, we were craving lasagna. We didn’t care how far we had to go so we were stoked when we found that Salida was less than 20 minutes away.
This place was adorable! The manager (or owner?) was waiting at the front door to greet us and we got a table right away.
The Cesar Salad was excellent; tasted like homemade dressing. Some of the best I’ve ever had.
Lasagna was also excellent! Perfect size, just wish it had a little more sauce.
The only complaint was our waiter. It seemed the manager was taking care of us more than the waiter.

Super friendly, fantastic service, phenomenal food. You will not be disappointed. Fettuccini pesto Alfredo and tiramisu are killer. Be sure to chat Diamond the bartender up. Super nice guy and they have great happy hour deals. We split a meal and it was more than plenty. We’ll be back on our next stop through.

Fantastic meal, friendly staff, and perfect location. Carissa greeted us as we entered and made us feel right at home. Scotty made our drinks, explained the menu and was a fantastic host! We will be back!

We had a delightful time at Ferraro’s tonight. Diamond, our server, was terrific. Our choices of fresh oysters, fish, veal, and vegetables were well prepared. The cocktails need work and our pasta was cool upon arrival by all in all, this is a little gem on Salida, which appears to be striving to get better and better. We enjoyed our experience.

I ended up here because the place I was going was no longer there. I came in because it was full and smelled delicious.
Delicious Caesar salad. Spaghetti and sausage very tasty. A nice chianti to go with food. Meet some great locals and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Would definitely come back !

What a diamond in the rough!
I have been traveling through Salida, CO all my life, but haven’t been down there in some years. I was surprised at the changes in the town and atmosphere, but were looking to make the best of it. The biggest surprise of the weekend was the great dinning experience I had at 216 Ferraro’s! The town and restaurants were all very busy, and although 216 Ferraro’s was full as well they had an immediate opening at the bar. I am normally not the type of person that sits at the bar for dinner, but we were sure glad we did this time! The bar tender/​server Diamond Redfeather was a breath of fresh air, and made our weekend experience so much more enjoyable. We had such a great time, and Mr. Redfeather made us feel like long time locals. He made the whole weekend memorable, and I feel like a family friend now. The food was absolutely fantastic as well!
We started with Oysters Rockefeller, and they were amazing! I get this at any restaurant that has them, and these are better then any top seafood place I have been. I then received bread and salad and wow they were fantastic! The Caesar dressing is best i’ve tasted in long time. I am a big Caesar dressing snob, and this was shockingly great! I then had a Steak Gorgonzola that was honestly surprisingly one of the better steaks I have had in some years. I go to Elways, Del Frisco’s, and other nationally revered steak houses and this rivaled those steaks in many ways. Such a surprise in this little town!
I really can’t express the phenomenal experience we had at 216 Ferraro’s. Diamond Redfeather really made the weekend though. I truly love great service at a restaurant and Mr. Redfeather’s service was second to none. We actually went back the next night and it was nothing but the same! Anytime we are in Salida, we will absolutely be back. We will be patrons for life!

My wife and I have been coming to Salida once or twice a year for the past 11 years, so we’ve eaten at many of the restaurants. We’ve seen many come and many go, and have good and mediocre meals at many of them. But 216 Ferarro’s has been consistently very good. They tend to be busy, so come early (before 6 pm) to get a table, or make a reservation.
One gripe: Ferarro’s needs to work on their beer menu. I know, Italian means Italian wine, but if they can serve wine from Argentina, then surely a quality Belgian, or some good local/​regional microbrews wouldn’t be too out of place. On our most recent visit, out of three tap handles and three bottled offerings, five were some version of a pale lager (Mexican, European, and American x 3). I tried to order one of the more interesting beers on tap, but then it was discovered that the taps weren’t pouring due to cooler issues. So no beer for me. Later, I heard another waiter mention another bottled beer that our waiter failed to remember. Unfortunately, this is all too typical for a lot of restaurants: wait staff have to do the beer list from memory. Inevitably they recall the pale lagers and forget that slightly more rare beer in the back of the cooler.

Were driving trough the area on a road trip to Denver and we stopped near the park to stretch and discovered this place. Absolutely fantastic –service, atmosphere, and most importantly delicious Italian cuisine! (And we know our Italian fare if I may say so myself) please check out this intimate little place if you happen to dine in Salida! Quality all around.

Food is decent, service ok, menu overpriced for pasta. Wines are way way overpriced. Get take out, just make sure they don’t overbill you, they almost always charge more and see if you notice. Nice right? Have your wits about you when you audit the bill.

The best Italian food in Salida hands down. This is a class act!

Our party of 10 was seated at 8 PM on a Wed. night. The service was just great! The manager came by several times to check in on us and our waitress was on it. The ambience was perfect as well: cozy yet enough room for our rambunctious group. The food: salads were good, not outstanding but the appetizers: escargot-​stuffed mushrooms and roasted artichoke were quite good. The pasta was home-​made and the sauce was rich and tasty. Lamb chops were excellent as was the Chicken Florentine. Two in our party ordered the sea bass; while tasty, both agreed it was slightly over-​cooked. Crème Brulee and tiramisu (a VERY generous serving) were excellent as was the fresh whipped cream for our coffee drinks. All in all, a great experience and we look forward to returning on our next trip back to Salida.

We have eaten here once and were not impressed. Recently invited to go there so gave it a second try. We won’t go back again. Ravioli was rubbery, crab cakes were under-​done with not much crab meat. Service was friendly, but terribly slow, but we think that was a management problem (not enough servers).
Now, the wine list. They sell wine by the glass in two sizes. You have to read very carefully to see this little trick and the server did not clarify. $ 9 /​glass for a pretty average wine is quite high… you might be able to justify it if the food were top notch. Neither was worth it and we consider the meal a waste of our good money. We live here and won’t be able to refer others.
PS The bread was pretty good, but olive oil for dipping would have been nice.

Absolutely amazing traditional Italian! Great atmosphere and the owner makes sure you leave happy and full!
