I went here for lunch yesterday and my experience was bad. The chips were old. The service was SUPER slow and I only had an hour for lunch so my boss yelled at me for being late. The food was blah. I ordered a chabela and it was super salty. This place SUCKS!

Very poor service, my molcajete came in 45 minutes. Tacos were burned from the appetizers menu. Crappy place no lie.

Very disappointed… I was taking a bite out of my torta when I started and felt something scratching my mouth & throat. I pulled out what I thought was a staple but realized it was from a scouring pad/ball used to scrape pots & pans. The staff was apologetic but I’m not sure I will visit the establishment again

Great food. Not so great service. Stood at the front counter for 7 minutes being ignored by the person working the front desk. Didn’t acknowledge me or even looked up… even when I said something. Finally a girl came around and seated us. Spent the next 15 minutes waiting for someone to come take our order. I had to flag down someone! Finally ordered. Over 45 minutes later we were still waiting for our food. Again I flagged someone down. He said maybe 10 more minutes. After continuing to wait our food showed up. As usually, excellent food.

I called in an order for pick up one day and specifically requested certain ingredients not be added as I have specific dietary needs. I picked up the order and realized when I got home that none of my requests were met. I called them again to explain how unsatisfied I was, however, my concerns fell on deaf ears and they flat out said there was nothing they could do and were dismissive in talking to me. The food is definitely over priced for what it is, typical Mexican food. There is one dish called The Molcajete. It has traditional flavors and is priced at about $ 18 dollars before anything to drink. Then they have the upgraded version of the same dish for about $ 28 and that includes shrimp. .. . a grand total of 4, yes four, medium shrimp for $ 10. I could get 2 whole burritos at other places for that. Bottom line is, if you order for pick up, open everything and check for order accuracy before you leave and prepare for a hefty bill if you go in a larger group.

I love the marinated steak papusas and and the beans and rice! I love coming here. Young vibrant employees are very friendly and respectful! Which is rare in the youth of today. Very hard working boys. It’s a pleasure to be waited on by these kids. Very small dining area which only adds to the home style environment. Truly feels like you’re at a friend’s house for dinner. must try the homemade tortillas!

Worst service ever. Server took forever to take our order. Food wasn’t the best and it was cold. The place was not full, the service was way too slow.

I have been coming here for years, and the food just keeps getting better and better. Ask for their hot salsa if you are so inclined. It’s delicious and really hot. We had the lunch special and everything was great. I like to explore the menu and try unusual, but amazing entres.

Large parties are welcomed. Lots of great choices to choose from on the menu. Busy on Saturday nights. Delay on food, but we had plentiful chips and salsa. They were nice enough to sing Happy Birthday and gave a complimentary flan dessert to the Birthday girl.

The only reason why I am giving a three star is because the famous molcajete is bomb!(that’s the only reason I came here). So we came in on a Sunday yes it was busy but not super busy for us to get our order in 29 min and get offered drinks we then wated no joke almost 40 min to get our food and the waitress was soooooooooo RUDE she messed up my order and she got mad when I confronted her and rolled her eyes. We said its ok she brought us our food ok it was good the famous molcajete it had cactus, chicken, shrimp, some steak and all in pieces with great sauce! Everytime I would ask for a refill the waitress would roll her eyes and when we asked for a box to go she just tossed it on the table literally bad bad bad service I wanted to talk to the manager but I was like let it go let it go lol. So yes coke for the molcajete but beware of the service maybe ilk give it another try just because of the molcajete is good oh yea and they make homemade tortillas ;) by the way I also noticed a elderly white lady who was not greeted nor acknowledged nor offered something to drink she had been waiting for about thirty min untill someone not dressed in pink shirts which is the color of the waitresses came to assist her bad service maybe I wont go after all just thinking how rude my waitress was bye. I prefer the original location much better. The food is good, but service and ambiance here is not as good. When eating here, you don’t feel like you’re eating in a Mexican Restaurant. The TV is too loud in the main dining room… Why not try some great Mexican Music? Leave the TV shows for the bar !

The service was great! But the food was dissapointing. My uncle had to send back the octopus because it was over cooked and too rubbery we thought he was going to choke on it. My enchiladas weren’t even a little bit spicey they were so sweet and the sauce was pasty I’ve never had sweet enchiladas. My boyfriends burrito was just okay, nothing special. First time here and most likely the last time.

I haven’t been to the Romie location, but hear it’s smaller and gets crowded. The Salinas St. one is pretty spacious with lots of tables. The service was good. Our waitress was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. They are known for their molcajete, which my friend ordered. The portion is pretty big and can easily be split between two people. I ordered the flautas w/chicken which were pretty good. Nice portion size.

They have a great Molcajete here. Probably the best I have tried in Salinas. Every time I come I make sure to order one… for just me. The sauce that they add to the Molcajete is always on point; really spicy and flavorful.

We were really looking forward to a nice lunch here based on a lot of good recommendations. To start off, the service is horrible. The server Stephany was very rude and impatient with too much attitude. The place was empty and it took 30 minutes to get our food. After we received our food I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for my corn tortillas, by then my food was cold. Never again will we be back. Even McDonald’s has better customer service.

This review is based on just the service, because I have yet to receive my food as I write this. Have been waiting for over 40 minutes for my food. Not a place to go for a one hour lunch. The place wasn’t even busy. The Romie Lane location gets super busy at lunch and yet they can easily whip up food in less 10 minutes. Something is seriously wrong here. This place has been opened since 2011 and they still haven’t been able to improve their service.

Their Romie Lane location is much, much smaller. There were no available tables, so the friendly host recommended we try this location just a couple blocks away. We ordered: – chavela: calamato w/spices & Mexican beer. Didn’t think I’d like this combo but it tastes like heaven in a glass. – molcajete: the thing that many reviews say to get. A little overrated, pricy, tastes like a better version of fajitas(chicken, beef, pork, cactus, cheese, in a blend of spices.) Perfect filling for their thick, fluffy corn tortillas. – combo: chile relleno resembled so many others I’ve had before. Not greasy. Sopes was quite dense & the carne asada was tough & chopped up into tiny pieces. Would not recommend. – didn’t care for chips(like store-bought) & salsa(like pace picante out of a jar.) Would definitely return, but would try other items.

Sazon Es la buen sabor !! We first tried their other location on rommie street but they were full and had just a few tables so we came to this location which had a lower Unilocal rating but they assured us it was the same food. This location is much bigger. Of course we started with the delicious chabela drink. If you’ve never had one of these get it! It’s a beer with Bloody Mary type spices and shrimp !! Yes shrimp !! This might sound disgusting to those not used to it. But it’s really delicious and you need to try it. Think shrimp cocktail and Bloody Mary but better ! You hardly even taste the beer but it adds the perfect flavor. Get the super chabela if you want more of a beer flavor as they add one more beer on top turned upside down. 5 stars Now that I’ve raved about the chabela, their food is good too. The mocaljete was flavorful and huge but pricey. The combo meals are good too. Don’t forget to try their handmade tortillas

The molcajete michoacano was excellent. Highly recommend it, but be careful if you don’t like spicy food. We asked for mild and it was still very very hot. They serve it with homemade tortillas. Tortillas were awesome. We had lunch for two and this was plenty! Will come back for sure. Only thing I did not like was having to pay extra to get more tortillas. They only give you three with the meal.

The service was horrible! It took 30 minutes before the server came to take the order for the drinks. We ordered right away and it took one hour to get our food. As for the food, it was not what I was expecting at all. I ordered a molcajete it was not good at all. I live in Bakersfield, if your ever in the area and want an authentic molcajete stop in and eat at Los Molcajetes you will love the molcajetes or whatever you order.

With my choice of a half dozen Mexican restaurants within walking distance from my house this is a good choice. There always busy, that’s a good thing. They service is attentive and helpful. The prices are inline with most other Mexican restaurans and the portions are big. All that being said, lets get on to the chow. Nothing funky here all seasoned well but not over the top. Most of the sauces are made on site as are the corn tortillas. The menu is big, so the choices are tuff. Need something from south of the border without the 10 hour drive. Go here! Enjoy.

Perfect spot for authentic mexican faire. Hubby and I came here for our favorite thing on the menu Molcajate… all I can say yum! I am including a pic of what this tasty concoction is because my words can never be good enough haha… The molcajate is big enough for two or one with a large appetite priced at 18.99 which is fair for the amount of food you get… we also this time ordered shrimp appetizer which without adding tapatio, salt, lime and pepper is just. meh… If you are looking for great food at fair prices you’ll never go wrong eating here!

We tried out La Casa Del Sazon for lunch on Sun 11÷24÷13. We drove in from Fremont which took about 1.5hr & then we parked near National Steinbeck Center cuz that was where we were heading after lunch. They do have their own free parking lot that holds about 10 cars or so. FREE chips & a spicy salsa given. I liked the salsa, didn’t try the chips. FREE iced water if you want them, gotta ask for them. Horchata $ 1.99 — It’s in the same huge cup like the water. I tried it, it’s sweet, not chalky. Pretty good. We shared the Molcajete Michoacano — their specialty $ 16.99 — It’s huge dish with grilled chicken, beef, pork, sausage, cactus, onions, & sauce. I liked the meats ok — just too much of it I think! Rice & beans were fine, beans tasted fresh not from a can. 3 corn or flour tortilla per order, had to get another order of corn tortillas for us to share(extra $ 1.99). Overall, we might go back one day, but try other dishes. Separate bathrooms in the back on the left. Credit cards allowed. Hrs: M & Tues 9a-4p W-Sun 9a-8p
