Very good food, but also very expensive. Love the novelty sodas they have. Their pastrami sandwich is delicious, but I’m a picky eater, and most of their menu doesn’t appeal to me. Good place to take your date, but too expensive to make a regular hangout for many.

I’ve been wanting to stop by this place for awhile now and finally got around to it the other day. When you walk in, you realize that it’s bigger on the inside(ha!) and charming to boot. I finally ordered the funky egg salad and was a bit disappointed. It’s pretty bland and I was expecting more flavor or at least to taste the egg-yness. But I got nothing except for a slight hint of dill. However, my husband ordered the pastrami sandwich and I had a bite of it and wished I had ordered that instead! It was substantially meaty with the right amount of melted cheese and they managed to add sauerkraut without letting the bread get soggy. My husband who was born and raised on the East Coast let out a sigh of relief; finally, a pastrami sandwich that could fill up that hole in his heart.

I simply love this place. I have been there twice since I moved to SLC. I love their soups and sandwiches. And I am in love with their lemon tart! Food tastes fresh and the place is super cute. I enjoy grabbing a quick bite and I can even read a book! It is for sure a must try place if you are here in SLC.

I don’t know what I was expecting? In a town with no Jewish people, the deli is extremely lacking. Guess they just haven’t had a member of the tribe brave this town and walk through those doors before. Because what I saw was a pretty shtunk. Tried both the corned beef and the pastrami. Both were extremely dry and sliced so thin that they were grilled into rubbery meat pieces. Should’ve known something was up when they didn’t put either of the meats in the deli case out front. As for the side dishes that were in the case. Because of the sticky residue around the beets, the wrinkles of the sliced tomatoes, and the buffet looking pasta, I asked what was freshest. The girl behind the counter struggled with this one. I took the cole slaw and am not feeling so hot. You’re not mensches 9th South Deli.

I had the ham sandwich with havarti. It was very good! They ran out of turkey which is why I went with ham. Strange a deli can run out of turkey on a Monday at noon-ish.

Best pastrami in the world ! I am from nyc and after one taste of 9th street delis pastrami I was hooked. I was only in utah for a week so I bought a 5 pound pastrami brisket and flew it home with me. I have a meat slicer so I had a pastrami sandwich party with my friends. Everyone was shocked how delicious it was considering I brought it from utah. After I finished the pastrami I figured I was in nyc and I could find something better or at least comparable. I was wrong. If you live in Salt Lake City area you are blessed! Go and try a pastrami sandwich from this place asap! Tell them jon from nyc sent you. By the way, it’s been a few months since I got home and I must have been to 25 restaurants in nyc and couldn’t find a pastrami that comes close. The closest flavor I found was Katz but it was very greasy and sliced thick. I called 9th street deli and spoke to the owner randy. He was so happy to hear how much I loved the pastrami that he helped ship me another 10 pounds. I can’t wait for it to arrive!

I’ve been here before for lunch and have been happy but my husband and I came for weekend brunch and we were REALLY disappointed. We got terrible, rude service. I asked what kind of orange juice they had and the employee said sarcastically«I don’t know, it’s orange juice», as though it was a stupid question and I was a stupid person for asking. The food was not good. My latkes were really undercooked and they did not seem like any latkes I have ever had before. My husband’s french toast tasted like onions. We think the cook probably cooked the latkes and french toast next to each other and the flavors mixed. Bad experience. I left angry and am not in a hurry to go back even though I like their roast beef.

Sad experience. We arrived at 9th So. Deli with good expectations of having a Jewish Deli experience. Not so. No one or a Grandma taught them to grate potatoes to make a latke. The lattke was shredded potatoes held together with a egg. The texture and taste was like eating eggy shred potatoes. The pastrami was very fatty. The pickles would have been better if they were batampte or don hermanns. My companions eggs and corn beef was«blah». No flavor. Bottom line a disappointment. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

Fabulous location, but very inconsistent food, so I gave up on this place after five visits. For the price, I expect the food to be good every time(my last visit had matzoh balls that had to be cut with a knife and fork… the owner was very accommodating, which I really appreciate, but that’s the second time I’ve had to take something back). Also, there just shouldn’t be cheese on a corned beef sandwich.

Can’t believe people actually compare this place to any NYC deli?! New York City is one of my favorite places in this world, and believe me this place is no way close to an east coast deli! Unless you have lived in New York and sampled the hot pastrami sandwich at the very authentic Carnegie or even Stage, please do not insult these world lass delis.

Reubens a Reuben, size medium couldn’t eat a large be good to share though. With Red Potato Beet Salad and a nice dill pickle. Best Reuben I’ve had in Salt Lake since they closed Marriane’s Deli some 15 years ago…

Love this place!!! Love it! You can not go wrong here! The food is always fresh, friendly service, awesome menu. For breakfast the Corned beef hash is SO good it’s unbelievable. Lunch try the Ruben sandwich, also the«thanksgiving» turkey sandwich. I have yet to order something here I don’t thoroughly enjoy!

I’m not sure why everyone says this place is overpriced as I ordered a small tuna sandwich and paid $ 7.50. It also came with a choice of side salad & a pickle. They gave me what looks like a full size sandwich for they cost too! Seems like a good lunch deal to me. I love their breakfast too!

Breakfast plate dishes are over priced and bland. Their bagle sandwich is decent. The service was decent. Bottom line, I wouldn’t come back here for breakfast.

This place was just alright. Huge bummer was how incredibly expensive the sandwiches were! I understand that they use quality ingredients, but paying $ 14 for some sliced meat and bread was disappointing. Also, the sandwiches are just that – only meat and bread, very little condiments or toppings. The place is in a great location and the venue is pretty cute, but I’m positive I won’t be returning there with my business unless I get a raise.

Great east coast deli. It has a very comfortable atmosphere and this being the third visit, I found the service to be friendly and much more efficient. Have had the ham sandwich that was fabulous. Rosemary aioli really sets it off. Yesterday, I went with turkey. I believe Jacob’s first born was the name. Turkey was quality as was the rye bread. For me, you can’t go wrong with sauerkraut, Swiss and Russian dressing on the side. Excellent variety of salads to choose from and I thought for the quality to price ratio, it was right on. The 4 ounce miti is the perfect size for a satisfying lunch. I foresee myself lunching here more frequently after yoga class. What a delicious combination!

Having just moved to the neighborhood, I was anxious to try this deli so close to my home. I am glad I did! Having been here now several times, breakfast and lunch, I can say that they are consistently great. Service is good, we are recognized when we come in. People feel welcome here. I admire what the owner did in preparing to open his deli. He spent researching and studying with the greats back east. This will be a regular haunt.
