This is certainly an Asian restaurant, appealing to the more American tastebuds. That being said, I love the General Tso’s chicken here — just enough sweet, spice, and good crunchy batter. I also enjoyed the duck appetizer, especially if you are looking to share with a larger group. Dylan, who works behind the bar mostly, is one of a kind and will give you much insight into the cuisine as well as the food scene in SLC. Prices are reasonable and service is good across the bar.

Very average Chinese food. The Mongolian chicken had thick chicken pieces and was hard to take it down as the flavors were bland and very unlike good Chinese food. The shrimp appetizer was very good and the service seemed fine too.

The Chinese food is average. And it has charged a tip of 18% by default even with a party of three.

The General Tso Chicken was good but I’m used to it having a little kick. This stuff had NO kick at all! I did appreciate the free appetizer as a Unilocaler, that was neat. Everyone in my huge group really seemed to enjoy their dinner which is a feat in and of itself since we had a very large number of people there. The servers were amazing handing so many customers at once! They were friendly and kept a smile even though they were running like crazy. I would go back and I would even recommend you give it a try if you’re ever in the Salt Lake City area.

To be fair, the food was good. But our waiter was horrible, that’s why I left a 2 star. It obviously doesn’t apply to every customer. We’ve been sitting there for more than 20 minutes and our waiter didn’t show up to bring us drinks or take our order.(I don’t know why) the host took our order after I stopped her and asked where our waiter is. I didnt know who our waiter was until he showed up to bring the check. I do hope that the restaurant can see this post and improve there service because there food deserves better service.

So far we have yet to eat in anything but a Chinese restaurant, and so far so good. No one died yet. In this place the front does not know as much as the back, but the result works. Most people on this group are from Beijing. Lm

Holeeee hell! This place has gone straight to the shitter. I used to come here all the time. Let me pre empt and say I mostly order the tangerine chicken. In the past it was dilectably delicious. It had a perfect mild crunch, moist interior, and a legit citrus spice flavor. Now, after giving 3 chances of redemption, I can confirm that this place is serving warm, mooshy, bland, flavorless pig excrement. My dining partner who ordered the lo mein and some pot stickers felt the same. Could have saved $ 60 and gone to some dick smack mall food spot and been happier.

Stopped here for lunch based on reviews. Food was awful as the potstickers were cold and drowned(and I mean completely soaked) in soy sauce. Waitress could not recall order 2 times and even then got it wrong. If you are looking for horrible fried(which is hard to mess up) and cold food, this is your place. I would avoid it at all costs.

I have enjoyed this restaurant with a small group and a party of 13. Fabulous food, stellar service. With the large party we tried 10 items, all were wonderful. A great place to dine.

The Panang chicken is the best!!! I have eaten here twice now and the good quality, service and ambience are all too notch! Prices are reasonable as well. I would recommend this place to any Thai food lovers!

I thought this place was super good! I have been putting it off due to the price signs on Unilocal.I can really justify spending a lot of money on Chinese when you can get really good Chinese at a inexpensive price. This place wasn’t that expensive though… I really liked all of the food we ordered too! I checked in and was given two pot stickers, which I totally wasn’t expecting. They were super good duper good! We also wanted to try the half duck app. It was served with sticky buns, cucumber, and scallions. Very good as well! By the time our main course came I was too full but that didn’t stop me from digging into the Mongolian beef, and yellow curry noodle dish(recommended by our server) super good! I think overall it was a great experience.

I had never tried J. Wong’s before, and tonight I ordered delivery through Eat24. About 50 minutes passed, and I was starting to think I was going to have a bad first impression. But, how a business handles the customer’s experience when something goes wrong is just as good(if not a better) indicator of the true quality and integrity of a place. I received a call directly from the restaurant to explain that they had experienced a malfunction that caused a delay in receiving my online order, and would be discounting me 50%. I agreed that was fine, and they showed up shortly with my food. The delivery driver informed me that they were not going to charge me at all, to which I replied that was more than I was expecting(and I wanted to make sure he’d still get a tip). Now, to be honest when I opened up my bag I did see that they also forgot my rice(must’ve been a rough night, or just my luck), but the food I did receive was wonderful. My first impression could’ve been a pretty bad one. But, the acknowledgement of a mistake, and going above and beyond to make it right, makes it more likely that I will order from them again than if I’d had just a mediocre first experience. Kudos to J. Wong’s for providing a stellar customer experience!

We came in for lunch. So we missed some of what looks like wonderful items there. A great surprise. Thai/Asian. We tried several things… Thai spicy cashew chicken, tangerine(seriously) chicken, lettuce wraps and my all time favorite. The kao soi with pork belly. It was spicy, tart and coconut all perfectly banned. And the Thai soup was downright drinkable.

We had an early New Year Dinner here, based on a recommendation. First let me describe the beautiful interior of JWongs. It is beautiful and peaceful. A quiet restaurant that you can really dine in and have enjoyable conversation. Next the service. Second to none. The tea service was beautiful and ritualistic just like I like. And now the food. We had two delicious meals and ordered the green beans on the side. The food is ideally served family style so it would be a great place to go with some friends. There were so many items I wanted to try so it was hard to make a decision. I ordered the Tangerine Chicken and Jasmine rice. My only complaint is the rice serving is very small and really not enough to share with more than one person. My husband had pork belly with noodles and yellow curry. The fusion of these flavors was remarkable. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food and for sure we will be back and bring some friends along for next time.

Extraordinary food and service. From the soup to the desert, everything was fantastic! I had the salmon and my son had the curry tai noodles, and we both thought it was well prepared and full of flavor. A nice touch to his dish was the chilly peppers were on the side so he could add exactly the amount of heat he wanted. We both had desert and we finished happy campers. Highly recommend, great place for a nice dinner.

I ordered a delivery 30 minutes before they closed. The food that arrived was hot and cooked to perfection. They threw in an additional order of cream cheese wontons and I was in heaven, since that’s my favorite item on their menu. Also, highly recommend their Pad Thai. Will definitely be ordering again.

We checked in on Unilocal and enjoyed a free appetizer(choice of 3 items — all good). My honey walnut shrimp with orange accents and the bok choy side were delicious. Bob had a red curried shrimp over jasmine rice that he thoroughly enjoyed. There is an impressive wine list — and we found just the right complement for our dinner. This is definitely a place we’d return to — and bring friends. Our waitress, Whitney, was friendly and efficient. Good service, good food. Come!

My coworkers said J. Wong’s Asian Bistro is a good place to visit. Good call. Everything exceeded my expectations: food, service, ambiance. And a check-in on Unilocal = free appetizer! I ordered the Hot & Sour Soup and the Lo Mein. The appetizer I chose was Potstickers which were beautifully crafted and were spiced with a little heat, just the way I like it. Soup and noodles were great — reminded me of Mom’s cooking. I would recommend this restaurant.

NOPENOPENOPE. As the kids from all those stereotypical Cali places would say — HELLA nope. Actually, I don’t know if they use that exact term but, meh. Wait staff greeted my coworker and I as we entered, handed us a menu, and walked away. Ok? It’s near empty for lunch time but … I guess we’ll wait 5 – 10 minutes for you to return. Then wait another 5 – 10 minutes for you to place an order for us, and then 10 – 15 minutes for food to be ready. Wow, almost my entire lunch«hour» is gone! The cost of a lunch here will run you at least $ 8 – 9, not including tip. And if you take it to go well… yikes. The food portioning was TINY. When I opened my box, I literally thought the wait staff mistook me for a 5 year old who was just learning to eat and digest adult food, because it would be enough to feed a small colony of ants for a few days, or an angry toddler for 30 seconds while s/he tossed the food in the air out of «what the fuh“stration. Quality of food equated to something out of P.F.Changs, or Panda Express, same price, less quantity. Anyways, nothing really much to say except I was hungry an hour later(if that). Had to go out and spend another $ 8 – 10 on a second lunch. If I keep coming here, I’ll probably end up fueling downtown Salt Lake City’s food economy all by myself! No thanks.
