It doesn’t get better than this. Carmel cashew from the freezer(not a concrete or from the machine the day of) is the very best. Also, their peppermint(which is seasonal) can’t be beat. The drive through is a nightmare on a Friday or Saturday night but if you park and go inside they are pretty quick. Love, love, love this place. You won’t find better ice cream anywhere(and if you do, please tell me and I promise to try it… I would love to be proven wrong!)

There were only three cashew halves in the whole cup of caramel cashew frozen custard – usually there are several in each bite. If they were low on cashews, I wish they would have told me. Very disappointed. Carmel cashew is their specialty every Monday. I get several each year. I wish they had food too.

Had the chocolate almond concrete and raspberry. Both were really good but too much much to eat. Will get a smaller size next time.

this place took good care of us yesterday. i had a mini frozen custard with cookie dough and oreos(a «concrete») and my buddy had a regular sized CMA(chocolate malted almond). he is a regular at this spot when coming into town, and needed to bring me here. the amount of custard in the mini is enormous, and my friend somehow managed to tackle the regular. very reasonably priced, too. would take this over a DQ blizzard any day of the week, wish there was one back home.

Slowest service ever tonight. And then our cup was not even filled to the top. Not happy with the service. I did not get half the toppings I ordered. I think from now on I will go to chain store Culvers. Disappointing and all around bad experience.

This place used to be 5 stars, no question. But now they are an average custard place. Their chocolate flavor has gone downhill and tastes like it’s made with syrup. Their cookie dough tastes weird and chemically modified or something. I recently asked to mix in mini marshmallows that I brought in an unopened sealed bag and they wouldn’t mix them for me, but rather told me that I could mix them in myself. Not the same! If you are looking for simple creamy frozen custard, the vanilla is pretty darn good. Like I said, the chocolate has gone downhill. Choose your mix ins carefully. If you want a great mini marshmallow shake, try the mini mallow chocolate shake at dairy keen in Heber, ask for extra extra mini mallows and enjoy! Nielsen’s needs to try the mini mallow trick and dump the whipped stuff.

Love their Carmel Oreo concrete. Total hole in the wall. Would get 5 stars physical location and restaurant space wasn’t so neglected.

Omnomnom. This is seriously the best frozen custard I have ever had. I walked up because the drive thru line was nuts. I was probably in and out in about 5 – 10 minutes. The register guy was pretty nice. I got a raspberry brownie concrete, which is my standard choice. It is just so much creamier than regular ice cream. I will be back every time I come to Utah. The bountiful location is also awesome.

Terrible customer service!!! Purchased 3 quarts of custard a couple of days ago. A chocolate, raspberry, and lemon. They bagged it and handed it to us. They actually gave us VANILLA instead of chocolate. We are from draper so today we brought the vanilla custard back to exchange for chocolate because the chocolate is our favorite flavor! They would not exchange it for us so we had to buy another quart. So we had to pay for THEIR mistake!!! Not happy!!! They said we had to have a receipt but they handed the custard to us in a bag without a receipt! The manager Nate(which the girl at the window said his name was) would not even come to the window to talk to me about it. So sad that a place with good custard has to be so terrible with their customers!!!

The custard is great the service is bizarre! I’m not sure where they find the employees but they always seem irritated, confused and not sure if they work at a custard place or a taco joint? It feels like a place that closed down and some random people wandered in and decided they would serve custard. But then they realized they hated serving custard and cars just keep coming? One lady working there was so out of it I was worried about my custard and didn’t eat it.

While the concretes satisfy my sweet tooth, I don’t appreciate listening to employees bitch about not getting a lot of tips, especially given the fact there is no option to tip when paying with a debit/credit card.

Been coming here for so many years and never thought to check in on Unilocal. Doesn’t get any better than this place, I went to the ever famous one in St Louis(Ted Drewes) and it was as good as this. Have never been disappointed at this place as they do it right every time.

Looking through the reviews, it seems a lot like the relative experience here is largely based on the staff at the time. Mine was one of the less wonderful experiences, to be sure. Would you like some surliness with your concretes? No, well pull yourself up for a bellyful anyway, because you’re getting it and a solid dash of humorlessness for a topping and you can eat it with a spoon of indifference… or not. Like they care. This translates to the food, of course, because food is always better with some passion and caring behind it… That aside, we had a few of them. Raspberry Coconut that my wife ordered was probably the clear winner, though the peanut butter cup did a nice job of runnering-uppering. Bumbleberry was also solid and the one I was most excited to try, the Lemon, while also solid, was too far over on the rich side instead of the lemon side for my taste. None were outright bad, though. Here’s the deal, though. They do one thing and one thing only, which means a place like this has to be aces at it. This wasn’t. It wasn’t better than Iceberg’s shakes and a far cry from the stunning spectacular gelato at Sweetaly. Sure, they’re different, but they’re all competing for the same dollar. Iceberg on 39th and this one are both throwaways as far the buildings. Both have drive-thrus and both are a bit beat up and ratty or at least worse for wear. But Iceberg, in all the time I’ve been here, has never failed to deliver the fantastic, even with doing all that other foodish stuff they have. This place and Sweetaly do basically one thing. One of them is the runaway best at it. The other is this. Crappy service aside, I’m not sure I’d come back for this and I’ve waited in the torrid lines at Iceberg numerous times, until discovering Millie’s, that is and I will continue to brave all the circumstances for the expensive gelato at Sweetaly, but even though this was a lot easier to get in and out and is arguably more convenient than either of those, the call to return is not an urgent one and may ultimately wind up not being present at all.

Every time I come here they are out of chocolate or almonds, two basic necessities to a good ice cream/custard cup! NOTHAPPY!!! It’s easy to look at supply and demand inventory

Very good custard.
Good consistency, thick, and flavorful. I really can’t find anything to complain about. I make sure to stop here once when I’m in town.

I am taking Nielsen’s down a notch due to their lack of decent seating or pleasant ambiance. C’mon guys, you are a certified local hangout — get some comfortable benches and some sort of attractive barrier(perhaps actual live greenery?) to shield your patrons from the parking lot and foul traffic of Highland Drive. The product is still fully worthy of my earlier praise, but the memory of the location itself sometimes makes me think twice about making a visit.

This place was great! However the teenagers that were working were just a little lost in a little slow. They could’ve used a little bit more training before being on their own. However the ice cream was absolutely delicious and I will definitely return for some more when I visit Utah again.

Praise the Lord! This is the best custard ever! Yeah, the place looks pretty dingy from the outside and it’s not altogether an attractive place, but man, this custard is to die for. They make it fresh and will add in any mix-ins you want. I love getting their vanilla custard with cookie dough after a nice dinner or just as a regular treat. Definitely a can’t miss in SLC. They move kind of slow sometimes but it’s worth it, I promise.

Place is nothing great to look at but a Salt Lake City tradition. My husband took me here saying I’ve never tasted anything like it, and it’s true. Wow. At first I thought it was like a DQ Blizzard-like product, but if I can describe it to anyone I would say its like a DQ Blizzard but a lot smoother ice cream, butter-like melt in your mouth ice cream-like treat!
