Food is good… just make sure you order 1 hour 30min — 2 hours before you actually want to eat though.

I just moved back to SLC after being away for about 8 years. I remember Sampam being my go to for delivery and tried them again. Either my tastes have changed or this was just plain not good. The«ham fried rice» was just plain white rice with some soy sauce thrown in and some ham bits, even on my worst attempt to make fried rice at home would have been an improvement. General Tso’s tasted like it came from the frozen food aisle at walmart and then was left over and microwaved the next day, beef from beef and broccoli was soggy and chewy. Wonton and hot and sour soup were good however. Also ordered spicy and there wasn’t a hint of spice anywhere. So so sad since I live around the corner:(Also ordered on a midweek night and it still took over 45 minutes. Not sure who’s running this place but I can;t imagine they are actually of asian decent.

Accidentally went here instead of another place but we were hungry and just wanted to eat. The food was oily and tasted funny. The cashew shrimp came with a chicken stock sauce… Service was super slow. Waited over 15 minutes for the Cheque. I will not go back.

Just not very good food. I think they dumped a salt shaker in the rice by mistake, the chicken tasted like frozen meat cooked in a microwave. My wife didn’t eat any of her sweet and sour chicken after one taste. I sent it back, she didn’t want it replaced, and their solution was to charge her full price for the soup and side that she ate and take the main course off. So we got penalized for sending the main course back. No thanks I’ll go somewhere else next time.

Make sure you get everything you ordered. I used to ABSOLUTELYLOVE this place… last few times it has seemed a little lazy! Great food if you get it.

Although the food is good, I can’t give them a good review. I’ve ordered take out 2 times, both times the same thing has happened. I get to restaurant 35 minutes after I place order like I’m told to pick it up. My order is lost. So another 35 minutes later I get my food. So over an hour wait for Chinese takeout! Meanwhile customers came in and ordered and left before me. Very frustrating.

I come here when I have a craving for some cheap Chinese food. What I really like from here is their hot and sour soup! I always order the combo meals because it comes with soup, but I will order a whole bowl sometimes to take some for later. Their combo meals are the best deal in my opinion. You get a choice of soup, side, rice or noodles, and a main dish for about $ 15(depending on the type of main dish). I typically go for the general tsao chicken or the kung pao chicken. Both are good and flavorful. When I’m not in the mood for chicken, I will order their pad thai(also a tasty treat). For not being a Thai restaurant, I think they make their pad thai pretty well. It is a large portion, I share with another person and there are always leftovers to take home. I like coming here just fine. If I want authentic Chinese food I will go elsewhere, but Sampan gets my Chinese food craving met when I don’t want to spend a ton of money.

Only eaten here just the one time, but really enjoyed it. I appreciate that the service was quick and attentive, they made sure we were well taken care of. I loved the appetizers our group shared; the beef skewers were delicious, the pot stickers were some of the biggest and meatiest I’ve ever had, and the wontons were very tasty. While I enjoy fried rice, I’m more of a noodle fan and usually judge my Chinese meals based on how good the noodle are, so I selected the Shanghai Soft Noodle option with my meal, and gotta say, I thought they were some of the best noodles I’ve ever had.

This place is disgusting, I don’t know what I ate but it wasn’t Chinese food. It took over an hour to get here, they charged me a delivery charge. And it wasn’t even warm. The sweet and sour sauce tasted rotten, and the Mongolian beef was chewy and Grose. I will never eat here again.

I’ve never really had an issue with Sampan until new year’s eve when I ordered food– and they called to let me know it would be over a 2.5 hour wait to get my food delivered. The next day, I checked my bank balance and they had charged me TWICE for the order even though they said they would void it. Tried to call and explain it to whomever was working, but they insisted they hadn’t charged me. Bank statements don’t lie. Don’t eat here unless you want your money stolen.

Good prices on average food. Had recent business lunch there – everyone was satisfied, but not super impressed. Wasn’t this«the place» to see and be seen just a few years ago? Competition forces the good to get better, or go out of business, right? Asked for double spicy deep fried chicken dish – it came barely spicy & chicken meat wasn’t wasn’t of good quality. Fatty & grissily. Better than Panda Express any day! But that is pretty low bar…

Do not order takeout on a weekend night! Delivery will be hours past the promised time, and they shut off their phones when they get behind, so you can neither check on your order, or, if necessary(as we felt after 3.5 hours with no food), cancel. When we finally got them to cancel, we still seem to have been billed despite no food. Better Business Bureau material. Avoid. UPDATE A FEWDAYSLATER. TOTHEIRCREDIT, THEYREFUNDEDTHEFULLAMOUNTPAID. THANKYOU.

This was the most disappointing experience in my neighborhood of Sugarhouse in SLC. I was excited to have Chinese delivery and was 100% disappointed. The food was completely bland and so overcooked I threw it out as it wasn’t even fit for my dog. I called in and they offered replacement credit for everything I ordered but I told them to keep it as the point was I was looking for at least DECENT food and not a freebie. I have had SEVERAL friends in the neighborhood that have had similar experiences.

Try their cream cheese wantons! The egg drop soup was really great. Orange chicken was more chick than breading, which I enjoyed. Overall a very positive experience.

Not the best. If you enjoy super sweet food then go ahead but overall not impressed. Orange chicken tasted like orange candy. Way to sweet.

Took the light rail from the airport and transferred to the street car at the 2100 s transfer station. Exited at 700 east and walked to the restaurant. Delicious food, and our server YaYeh was awesome! Price/value/quality ratio very high! Extra star for being near light rail!!!

Really the most wretched shrimp dish I’ve ever eaten. Not stir fried or sautéed just boiled in bright red«sauce». That’s the hope anyway. I have a sneaking suspicion they scraped it off someone’s plate who didn’t eat it then rewarmed it slightly and sent it to me. Seriously not even edible. I wanted to complain but really what would that get me? Free food? I saw what they gave when I paid full price. No thanks.

Sampan is very middle of the road Chinese. It’s fine … Nothing is bad but nothing is amazing. We ordered takeout yesterday. Service was pretty slow. Food wise: everything was very gelatinous, the soups and sauces and entrees all had a very gelatin texture. This could be because they weren’t hot enough. But still. Hot and Sour soup is really good. Egg drop has tons of veggies. The sesame chicken is lacking in flavor. My husband really liked the chicken teriyaki. The sweet and sour sauce was almost a solid it was so congealed.

Not good. My beef tasted like it was old. Pot stickers were a little too thick on the wrap. Egg roll was okay. The wonton soup was the best part and even that wasn’t anything to brag about. Probably not coming back here, I read some reviews since my friend was headed there to pick up food, I submitted an order. Deceived, by you guys. This Chinese food needs alot of work. Paid $ 15 to still be hungry.
