The Hotel Bar and Club Elevate

Worst music venue ever. Not 1 good thing about this place. Simply put DO NOT GO HERE.

Never going here again.
First of all, one of the nights I came here they searched my bag with such thoroughness that made me uncomfortable… and not because I had anything to hide. I go out a lot, so I’m used to security going through bags, but this was more thorough than a courtroom or the TSA. The bouncers ended up confiscating my swiss army knife… the tiniest baby keychain swiss army knife. Later one of the staff tried to explain/​apologize by not apologizing and told me that I didn’t know the type of shit they see here. Ok… that does *not* make me feel better.
The cover charges are always too high, and the overall vibe is sub-​par. The drink selection and sound system is pretty lame.
On top of this the staff is straight up rude. After an incident last night and a conversation with the manager I was thoroughly disgusted. There was no explanation or reasoning behind their actions and no apologies whatsoever, and when I asked him a question he straight up walked away. Conflicts are a given at any bar, but their stuck up attitudes and bigoted decisions are NOT the way to handle them.
TO ALL TOURING ARTISTS: Do NOT play here. Salt Lake has plenty of other better venues.

Not a fan of this place. Only reason I come here is because u92 hosts artists here. Plain and old décor, nothing extravagant. The outdoor area is pretty much a small alley way.

Charged $ 5 cover charge… lame! I’m from California and lots of nice bars don’t charge ladies cover charge. Decided to give this place a shot… LAME. Weird crowd and wannabe rappers taking turns on the mic. Was hoping for some good hip hop music. Nope!!!

Best night club SLC has to offer! I’ve lived here for years and I love coming to Elevate. The dance floor is huuuuge and the bartenders always make it so fun! We went to G-​Eazy, you could definitely tell they’ve made some improvements to the sound system and their lights. There’s a phone # for their VIP list so you can get in free before whatever time it’s a good time, check it out!

I might be in the minority crowd here, but I actually like this place. before 11 it’s usually pretty dead, which is fine by me. The drinks are expensive, but I love the three different themed floors they have. It’s a chill place to hang out and take it easy, or get weird on the dance floor (s).

Do not waste your time this place is so weird. weird crowd I would rather stay home and do nothing than cone to this place 10 $ cover for what? Empty dance floor and shitty music ???

I think the lines long out front to show they are hopping but once you get in, its dead. Very diverse crowd with more men then woman. Vip tables are easy to sit in until they show up. Promoter treated us well and kept buying us drinks, she was awesome. She was the Asian Kim Kardashian. Music is mostly rap but I wish they played Drake, Fetty Wapp, newer music. Its a huge space plenty of room to dance and apparently its haunted. Great.

It’s a hard task if not impossible to find a great club in Utah. The hotel is just too small and the music quality is super poor. The bars are very small making difficult to order drinks it the club is pack which I have heard never happens.

Lived in SLC all my life and I have YET to find a bar with better bartenders and bar service. They are knowledgeable, friendly, FAST, and make some really good drinks! Makes it difficult to deal with bartenders anywhere else because they just don’t compare!

The Hotel and Club Elevate is an older venue for a club-​like atmosphere. They host Latin night on Fridays and EDM, hip hop and top 40 on Saturdays. During the week, they put on various events… My most recent visit was for the Miss City Weekly drag pageant. The place needs better ventilation because it was hot and muggy at times. The smoking patio is small and crowded and in an alley. Bathrooms could be cleaner. The sound system is decent and the dance floor is large. The bar was kind of a rip off… They charged me $ 7 for a shot of fireball. And $ 6 for a warm shot of Smirnoff.

The 10 $ entrance fee is definitely not worth it. I don’t mind paying entrance fees but this club sucks. They play the worst music on earth and has the most boring crowd! I thought the crowd would be more energetic after awhile but 12 midnight came and people are still standing on the sides, too cool to dance. Considering it was a Saturday night, me and my friends did not have fun at all and decided we’re not coming back. I’m giving 2 stars because the place itself and drinks are decent.

Honestly, I feel like this place is pretty overrated. Drinks are watered down and the music isn’t usually too great. A lot of house with sporadic top 40 song sprinkled in there.

There’s only 1 stall in the bathroom. But there’s another bathroom downstairs. This DJ needs to learn how to mix his sh! t… It’s hip hop, I hear it’s not that hard to mix… C’mon maaaan! At least the drinks were on point!

$ 20 cover charge and lots of fights. I have been here twice, and both times I saw multiple fights break out. The bouncers don’t do much about it, and the violent people get to stay ($$$). ALSO, DONT BELIEVE THE FAKE REVIEWS ON HERE! Nobody would honestly give this place 4 or more stars. The drinks are made poorly, and the music sucks

Yikes! The bartender poured his own cup of diet coke. sipped some… SPIT IT OUT and still gave me my Bacardi diet coke! And it was gross! They’re beer cooler is completely empty and the live music was awful… couldn’t get out of there fast enough!

This was officially my worst club experience in my entire life. Watered-​down drinks, the worst music I have ever heard in my entire life, asshole service, bullshit cover, the works!!! If you want to know what not to ever experience in your club experience come here. I will never set foot in this club again.

Saturday night and there is about a dozen people upstairs and 25 down… Perhaps lower the cover a bit and get some more bodies in here.
Not a fan–

Been working nightlife 15 years and this place is probably one of the worst venues I’ve ever visited.
I never complain about cover but after entering I wish I could have my $ 10 back. Passing a bathroom before even entering the actual club is also not a good look.
Sound system is horrible or needs to be tuned, and/​or DJ needs to check his levels, system kept clipping and was distorted the entire night. If he turned his gains down just a little it would have been clearer and the bass would have hit better even with a bad system.
DJ played a descent variety of music from hip hop to dance. His mixing was pretty horrible, echoed out and spun out of many of his tracks. Also, stop talking into the mic, no one can understand you when your mic level is full blast and you’re yelling in to it.
Dance floor had a good vibe minus feeling that I was about to have a seizure with the strobe lights constantly going. There seemed to be plenty of other lights setup in the venue, learn to mix it up and incorporate them better, than just constant strobe lights.
Drinks were good prices and bartenders were quick to serve, my friend had a table and after they finished the first bottle, the cocktail waitress was nonexistent afterword so we could purchase another one.
Venue is a good sized room, and think it could be a good place with some simple minor changes

Terrible. Couldn’t believe this place is still in business.
My wife and I came here at about 12:00 AM on a Saturday night, what should have been the prime time for dancing and drinking in downtown salt lake city. I couldn’t believe how bad this place was. It was COMPLETELY empty, we were there with maybe 3 or 4 other people. There is no dance floor, just seating areas. It’s a glorified bar with a DJ. Music was terrible and too loud so we couldn’t talk. The drinks had almost no alcohol in them, and it tasted like bottom shelf garbage. Even though it’s advertised as the hotel and club elevate, there is a cover for each location, so don’t plan on being able to switch back and forth easily. $ 10 cover for men and $ 5 for women.
On the plus side, the staff was very friendly!

Pretentious, exclusive and heteronormative. If that’s your scene, then by all means go. Otherwise, SLC has much better scenes to offer that are open, inclusive, and diverse.

$ 10 cover for men! Damn! $ 5 for women, and between my first visit here and this last time, I’ll give it 3. Last time was pretty bad, although this experience was much better. I was initially upset at the expensive cover but with 12 drunks, it was fun :)
It was my friend’s birthday and surprisingly they let her in for free because of it. I didn’t bother ordering a drink becuase it was probably ridiculously priced. Luckily my buzz lasted me the night. We went upstairs to a smaller room with a DJ and some private tables, but it was fun. You have your typical creepers but overall it was pretty good. Music was good, but I think more than anything it depends on who you’re with. I had a blast but overall this club isn’t any better or worse than others.

I used to really hate this place, then I liked it, then hated it again, and now I’m back to try it out again. After 3 – 4 trips I feel kind of lukewarm about it as a club. It has some good points (hookah bar — yay!), and some really terrible ones (no toilet seat on the toilet in the first floor ladies’ room. Really.)
I hate that Elevate is separate an requires additional cover. It used to be all one club and you could enter the Elevate side from the back of the first floor of The Hotel.
I went to both in one night and have to say I really enjoyed the Latin night over at Elevate a lot. My friend was in The Hotel side and came looking for us, and rather than making her pay cover, they held her ID for a minute while she came in to retrieve us. When we came out, the bouncer couldn’t find her ID. He looked for it for almost 30 minutes, after which we had to go, so he told her to check back the next day. She got the run around and never got her ID back. Several weeks later a police officer called to let her know her ID was fond in some guy’s car who was arrested. Make your own judgement on what happened.
I also like the second floor when they play electronica/​dub step/​house music. I haven’t decided my final verdict on this place, so for now i’ll just say it’s A-​OK.
