Stopped here for the apple-picking portion of our ‘Farm Fresh’ tour( ). They also offer pumpkin picking, and have a farmer’s market store full of fresh apples, pumpkins, jams, jellies and fresh-baked pies and other baked goods.(The pumpkin pie is excellent!) Picking your own apples is $ 10. Of course, you can get the same size bag of apples in the shop for $ 7, but picking your own is fun! You get to choose whichever apples you want — they have a ton of different varieties. They’re not really on your case about how many you’re shoving into your bag, either, and no one seems to mind if you want to eat one right off the tree. The trees are on a bit of a hillside — it’s not a hard walk up, but there’s a free hayride shuttle if you don’t care to walk. While we were there, they were also letting people toast marshmallows over a fire pit… You can also buy their fresh produce from a number of the Greenmarkets in NYC — but that’s not quite the same as being there and picking your apples right off the trees.
