My favorite activity at this recreation area is watching the waves crash against the north jetty. You can get to it via a couple of paths, but I like to go through the Cypress Tree Grove. The Samoa Dunes are a good place for wildlife exploration, beachcombing, and hiking. Tips: — No fees to enter the area. — There are bathrooms(I would not recommend using them).

The jetty area is really cool, and the scenery is great. If I were an ATV rider, I’m certain I’d give it a higher rating also, but I also must mention the experience we had with our dog while walking the wetland trail. There was a small sign that warned of ticks. This sign is the UNDERSTATEMENT of the century. We walked for only about 30 minutes and the dog picked up at least 50 ticks, and each of us picked up another few. There’s a lot of cool things to see, and it’s definitely worth a visit, just take the proper precautions when it comes to the pests. They’re no joke.

The ticks are NOJOKE! We walked the wetland trail and easily left with 40 ticks on the dog and a few on ourselves. The jetty is very pleasant. Just stay out of the vegetation in April.

Great beach when the weather isn’t too windy. We like to take the dog, and walk on the beach.

This place is really fun! We took the dogs here to chase after the tennis balls using a chuck-it. If you have dogs that need the exercise and love chasing after things, it’s the best thing to use here. What a blast! The dogs got a big workout and we got to enjoy the beautiful scenery at the beach and chase after the dogs when they found dead birds to roll in. It’s best to come when the tide is rolling in so the dogs don’t get too far out in the water if they’re retrieving a ball. It can get a little windy sometimes, so bring sunglasses to cover your eyes and wear sunscreen! If you’re pale like me, all you need is for the sun to peak out for just a few minutes and then, BAM! You’re sunburned. Also, bring a sweatshirt. It can be chilly! Besides taking the dogs out for a run on the beach, you can bring your loved ones for a stroll along the ocean or ride your ATV over the sand dunes. It’s a great spot to go!
