The service is typically prompt, the food is always fresh and fast, and the prices are some of the cheapest in town.

I don’t like TexMex but hubs loves it so this review reflects our collective experience at Gil’s. First, as if it needs to be said again: they offer a great value(read: inexpensive) for the food. While the service could be approved upon(today we had not the nicest waitress I’ve had in town), the overall experience was good. I really liked the Tacos al Pastor a lot!!! Finding dairy-free options I’m a Tex Mex restaurant is like finding a needle in a haystack! Score on that! Hubs frequents Gils for lunch and appreciates the cheap meal that fills him up past dinner time & how fast they are. For what it is, it is good!

The food was great. Tasted fresh and authentic. No complaints. The servers were all kind and quick to service. I would definitely go back.

Went here recently and the chips were stale and the salsa wasn’t very good either. I actually liked the chicken fried steak and the fries were great too, the roll it came with was gross though. The waitress was nice, but very slow. What really did it for me, was that the bathroom was out of soap and dirty. The always say that you can tell how clean the kitchen is by the way the bathroom is kept. And if a cook went number two in the bathroom, how are they washing their hands? Oh that’s right, without soap, that means they didn’t.

Overall it is a good place grab a good meal. The restaurant is a little older, but it still has a great atmosphere. The restaurant is older but was clean. Waitstaff was friendly but seemed to be falling behind when busy. A good option for big portions and lower prices.

It’s not often I give a one star review but sadly, Gil’s has earned it. This place used to be great but in recent years, it’s gotten funky. The last time I went, the service was slow and our waitress had meth-mouth. My girl had the cheese enchiladas and got food poisioning; she was feeling sick before we got home and was laid up for 2 days. I will never return here and it’s a shame because it used to be so good.

Coming through San Angelo today heading to Ozona and stumbled upon this restaurant. Was hesitant about the name but it was great! The portions were large and it was the best rice I’ve had. Will visit again when we come back through.

I went to Gil’s this past weekend after my cousin’s graduation from ASU. My overall impression of this restaurant is not impressed. We were taken to our table immediately, but no one came to take our drink orders or give us chips for at least ten minutes. I was starting to get quite irritated when a waitress walks by and just says we will be with you in a minute, there are only three of us today. Not very apologetic about it, just stated a fact. Finally we get chips and salsa(only one salsa for four people) and they take our drink orders. From here on out everything was okay. The food was actually good. I had chicken enchiladas with a queso sauce on top. My grandmother had the veraz cruz enchiladas. We enjoyed our meal. We went to the rest room as we were leaving and this is one of the reasons I am really not a fan. It was just gross. It was dirty. The back of the toilet tank had no top on it. And this is the worst part. There was a sign that said to place your toilet paper in the trash can and not to flush it. Ewwww. No thanks. Overall, the service and restroom have made me not enjoy my experience here. I am sure there are better places to go in San Angelo.
