AMG – Avanta Management Group

We are a military family and so we decided to use this company to rent out our house in SA. They were very helpful at first, but once the renter moved in, they began skimming money off our rent each month for no reason. One month they charged us $ 12 to send a letter to the renter about how to winterize the house-​I already pay them a management fee to talk to the renter, and a stamp does not cost $ 12!
It got worse the longer the renter lived there. Out of a 12 month lease (which the renter always paid on time) we only had 1 month we actually received the full amount of rent we were supposed to.
They charged us (multiple times) for repairs that either were not necessary, approved, or not actually done at all! We were continually lied to about where the money was going and stalled off when we asked for receipts, invoices, and in some cases refunds for work that was charged, but never really done!
When the renter moved out, we still had 1 month left in our management contract, so we told our manager to get the property back in «move-​in» ready shape. She sent us pictures and list of all the things they were going to AND of course, we paid the management fee that month, but when our friend went to get the keys from their office (after 3 weeks of withholding them from us while they made repairs), our friend went over to the house to find NOTHING done!
When we confronted AMG about this, they said they’d already returned the deposit to the renter, but when we pressed about it, b/​c they’d sent us pics and list of all the stuff they were going to deduct from the security deposit, they agreed to give it back to us. After 3 more weeks of waiting, we had to contact them AGAIN and finally the deposit was mailed to us, but it was Wester Union money orders, just seems fishy and unprofessional to me!
Additionally, there was a non-​refundable pet deposit paid by the renter, which according to all paperwork, should’ve been given to us, but NEVER WAS!
We’ve actually had to seek legal counsel regarding unaccounted for money on their end.
STAY AWAY! They will find a way to steal your money and leave your house trashed b/​c they piss off your renter!

Horrible costumer service. Almost impossible to contact or get answers. Do not hire them it will be a very unpleasant, frustrating experience. Just like others posted they have hidden charges and pay out your rent towards middle or sometimes end of the month even carry over to next month.
