Armadillo’s Texas Style Burgers

Good home style burger. I actually like the cheap fake cheese (a childhood thing). A good ol’ boy kind of place. Not exceptional, but consistent.

The vibe IS puro Texas… love it!
The burgers come in ½, 1/​3, and full pound options… nice! The Dude and I both had the Fiesta Burger — my favorite type, topped with refried beans, Pico DE gallo, and the Armadillo version has fried tortilla strips as opposed to the standard handful of regular ol’ tortilla chips… could’ve used a more generous sprinkling of those tortilla strips, to be picky, but overall still delicious enough that I finished the burger without even taking the time to ask for more tortilla crispies. (Time is pretty much my only gripe with the place… see below…)
5 or 6 different types of frozen Margarita available, including watermelon, pineapple (former more delicious than the latter, but both damn good), mango, and hibiscus. I’m more of a beer girl in general, but margaritas have been on my mind a lot lately, and these hit the spot perfectly.
Chili cheese fries… meh bordering on ick. Chili was super watery and none of the toppings stuck to the fries. CCF availability was part of the deciding factor in us choosing Armadillo’s, but we won’t order them again.
The major gripe… time. Never have I felt more rushed in a restaurant. Ever. Annoying!
A waitress sat us, handed us menus, and was all but tapping her foot in a rush, wanted to take our orders for not just drinks but also apps and mains RIGHT! THIS! MINUTE! Jeez, lady, I haven’t even opened the menu yet… ease the calamity in yo mammaries!
Every 2 – 3 minutes someone was at our table trying to remove plates and stuff. Look if my burger is in my hand, I still want my basket thingy «plate», OK? And if my margarita mug is ½+ full, no I’m not ready for another!
All told, we were in there, from seating to finish, for 20 minutes, maybe a little less.. quit with the pressure!

I ordered the old fashioned with bacon! They sure loaded it with bacon ! Delicious! Love coming to Armadillos

Bugers were tasty, service was good and friendly. I had the ½ pound my wife had the1/​3 cheese buger.

Geez these burgers are really good! You need burgers with grease, without it you get dry bun, dry patty and having to drink enough liquid. So if ur around get urself a ½ lb burger ppl, this will do and big basket of fries to go with will fill up the 2 to 3 people. Chili cheeseburger, chili dogs, chicken fried steak, fried catfish, it’s all good every time I come here.
Staff are very nice and welcoming and atmosphere is really cool.

The burgers are ample and delish. I was disappointed by what I believe were old tater tots on my last visit. The bathroom situation is abysmal. Only one stall and no SOAP. The doorknob was coated in grease.

I went here after it was recommended by a friend for their great burgers. We ordered the avocado burger and jalapeño burger. They were super greasy and the cheese was like melted shredded cheese. Neither of us could taste the jalapeño either. The fries were decent. Fried pickles and onion rings were pretty good, but still very greasy. Not sure what I was expecting, but it was basically just a fast food burger, so should have been much cheaper. Service was good though.

Had lunch here today with my co worker and the mushroom Swiss cheese ½ pound burger was delicious, my co worker had the ¹⁄₃ bacon cheese burger and I didn’t here any complaints from him cause his mouth was always full. Like to add a compliment on the two girls working there they was outstanding and very nice always checking up on us and ask if we was doing ok. Good food and service very rare you either get one or the other. Good job girls.

I am not a over sized burger fan. I would rather have a normal burger that is tasty. The place is dark. Sit outside. The fries were a hit. The burger was mediocre.

If you’re looking for a good local burger this is the place! The food is good, the beer is cold, the owners are laid back and the service is fast. They also have a nice sized shaded patio which is perfect when the weather is nice. There’s a variety of options on the menu to choose from depending on what you’re in the mood for. I always get the fried pickles, they’re delish!

Excellent service. Great place for exceptional hamburgers! The staff are very friendly and check on you constantly. The burgers are very juicy and have lots of flavor. Good place to bring kids. It can be very busy at lunchtime so plan accordingly. Parking is a challenge but worth it.

This place is tasty! Never knew it was right down the street from me. Couple of times driving by thought it was a mechanic shop, and boy was a surprised! Was hungry for a burger and wasn’t wanting my usual go to places. Popped onto Unilocal and found this cool dig just a bike ride from me. Came by during lunch hours and though they were busy, I was asked by 2 or 3 people if they could help me. I was in a hurry so ordered a burger and tots to go. Must say I love that they serve tater tots. The wonderful but over looked step sister to the french fry ;-) Placed my order grabbed a beer while I waited. Everyone was helpful, and friendly. They definitely know how to work a busy/​hungry crowd. I waited very little time for my order and fully understand that it might not always be this short. But for a first impression, darn it, I’m impressed! Finished my beer and was on my way. The bacon burger was delicious, tots were crispy and tasty! I’ll be back they made a fan!

I used to really enjoy their burgers a lot but I went there recently and their burgers a really bad now they taste frozen. Before they used to have big juicy patties now they’re thin and honestly look like a frozen patty. I was really disappointed I really believed they had one of the best burgers in town now not at all. :(

Went here on Saturday and the food was really good, reasonable prices and great service!
I had the fried pickles, although a tad to salty, they were cooked perfectly with the right amount of breading and their ranch dressing was homemade and delish.
They have wheat buns which I like and the burgers are equal amount of meat/​bun ratio.
It’s a small and loud place, but really good and in my top 5 best burgers!

½lb and 1lb cheeseburger… meat was salty and greasy… portions are huge so if you think it all tastes the same then it’s a good burger, but I won’t be back. Pretty much the same as a frozen salted store bought burger… Meh. Go to #dannyboyburgers much better burger in SAT.

Went here the other day after hearing about this place. Still being new to San Antonio, I enjoy finding new places to eat. I must say I was impressed by this place. As you walk in, you notice the charm of this place. The food was pretty decent. Had the fried pickles for an appetizer, which was some of the best I have ever tasted. Also ordered the half pound Bacon Cheeseburger with tator tots. The tator tots were really good. Overall the burger was decent, not the greatest, but definitely not the worst I’ve ever had. The service was very quick, and we got our food within minutes of ordering it. Pricing was very comparable to what you would expect from a burger joint. Very limited parking, but I went on a Saturday afternoon, and it was not that difficult to find a spot. Overall I give this place 4 out of 5 stars. Try this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

The burgers are the best for the money. Service is awesome and if you leave hungry thats your own fault

Ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was really good. The fries were burnt and were the worst part of our meal by far. The onion rings were good. The fried pickles were really good and they have a kick which makes it even better. Overall we enjoyed our meal the price was $ 28. Waitress was a nice lady, the atmosphere was nice. I’ll come here again.

Ordered the hot wings. This is what I got. Wings with feathers and claws. Manager was nice. I got a refund. But this was gross. Pic of my food posted.

A really filling burger, and at a perfect price. I came in here after school for lunch with my boyfriend and I loved it! Maybe a little to country for most but the food is great! We shared a fry and had two burgers that were the size of 3 Big Macs that’s freaking good!
