Cute coffee shop with lots of comfy couches to relax and study! I had the Noble crêpe and asked for sunny side up eggs instead of scrambled eggs and it was delicious. Excellent service!

I recently went through a bit of a coffee tour. On the tour was Art of Java. It isn’t my favorite but they do have some really cool specialty drinks. The specialties vary by the season. It never seems too busy when I am there. They do offer free Wifi. My standard drink is a Quad Caramel Latte. I have had this a couple of times and tried a few of the specialties, Caramel Apple Latte was my favorite. The coffee is good but seems to be missing something. I don’t know what though. If you are in the area it is better than Starbucks and cheaper too but I wouldn’t go out of the way to get here.

I recently moved to San Antonio from NY and was slightly nervous about the coffee situation here. Art-of-Java calmed my anxieties and made me believe in the coffee progression of San Antonio. They actually have real coffee — beans from around the world. And the loose-leaf tea options make my heart sooooo happy. And they have really scrumptious panninis and baked goods. Nancy, the barista I’ve met, is great! Comfy couches and décor. The only thing I’d change is the lighting. A little less florescent lighting and a few more calming lamps would help set the ultimate relaxing coffee-shop tone. I have yet to attend an event, but it’s certainly on my to-do list. Love this place!

I get a lot of work done on my laptop thanks to their comfy leather chairs! Since Art-of-Java allows local artists to display their artworks, buying coffee from Art-of-Java = supporting local business + supporting local artists + supporting local economy!

Usually stop in Local Coffee Co. or Starbuckles, but decided to give this place a try and was disappointed. I had a mocha latte and my hubby ordered what was on tap… the drinks were both okay, but not great. We also ordered a couple of pastries and were horrified when they dropped them into a microwave to take the chill off. Fresh pastries should never need to be kept cold in the first place.

Cute coffee shop! We were driving around randomly on a Sunday afternoon and happened on art of java. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the owner and a few updated special boards. Two boards were listing the daily food offerings, one listed the specialty coffee drinks. Now, these specialty drinks weren’t typical Starbucks type drinks, rather interesting drinks like«Mary valentine» and«George’s brain smoothie.» The seating was a mix of leather couches, leather arm chairs and traditional wooden tables. Local art was featured on the walls, and there was a carpet area perfect for mellow coffee shop performances. I can imagine this place really having a great vibe, but it was noon on a Sunday, so it was understandably more sedate. Art of java offers a larger than normal array of options for your drinks, notably the sugar free syrup choices. We only tried the iced coffee, and opted for the cold brewed variety, which was massively more delicious than the typical large chain ice coffee.

I’m going to give it five stars because the coffee, the atmosphere, and the service definitely deserve it. This is a great little café to hang out and study or chill. It has comfy couches with small tables you can pull right up next to you to work on. Whoever owns it is clearly a dog lover, as you will see when you enter. They also have an impressive sandwich menu, but I’ve yet to try those. The barista was super friendly. My cappuccino was a *real* cappuccino with lots and lots of foam. They take their espresso drinks seriously here. However, the tea is very disappointing. I was excited because they use loose leaf tea, which is truly a rare thing in San Antonio. However, they use unfiltered San Antonio water so you get all the gunk that rises to the top on it and that bad aftertaste. San Antonio water is fine for drinking or making coffee, but it’s awful for making nice hot teas. Oh well. Stick the coffee. After all, it’s called Art of Java for a reason!

Great atmosphere and nice people. The coffee is good and the smoothies are excellent. They will soon have bubble tea. I can’t wait!
