Little gem in San Antonio, TX! This place serve Belgian waffles made from a dough with encrusted pearl of sugar. Try it plain or with some chocolate. It’s very unique in the area !

Chocolates were delicious. Pricey but good. The owner was very nice. Homemade Belgian chocolate ice cream was so good! Can’t wait to come back and try their liege waffles.

So boyfriend and I went to PAX last year 2015, wanted to stop by this place, but with the panels and such we didn’t have time. Since we were leaving the following Monday we decided to wait till then. It was closed(I believe they’re closed mon-wed). So I cried cuz I wanted chocolate. This year we tried looking for it but failed(idk how because it’s literally right there) and as we were walking back to our hotel I saw it. It was opened! Walked in, bf is exhausted plus we’re in a hurry to meet people for dinner. He sat down on the couch and I stared at the chocolates on display. I have no idea what I want. Everything looks amazing. So with my mouth wide open, the guy behind the counter asked if I needed him to explain the beautiful masterpieces I was looking at. I said yes. He asked what I liked(dark chocolate, milk, white) and if I liked filling(fruit, nut, nougat). I told him dark and fruit sounds delectable. So he then pointed out some in that area. All of which I wanted, but I only picked three: lavender(yes it was made from a flower), wild strawberry, raspberry. I also got two blackberry tarts to go. I wasn’t a big fan, but my bf loved it. Wild strawberry, my favorite, it was dark chocolate with almost like a strawberry preserve in the middle. Lavender, dark chocolate creamy lavender filling. Just so creamy and the little hard candies on top made it. Raspberry, dark chocolate had a wafer type thing with a creamy filling. When my bf got into it he was just like that’s a lot of delicious flavors.

How could one resist passing by this place when the smell emanating from their doors was pure heaven? These are not your average Belgium waffles and chances are you’ve never had one as good as this one. Depending on what you order, it can be rather large and filling, so you can share with another person and feel satisfied. I tried the waffle with Nutella, whipped cream and sweet-cream ice cream. AMAZING! I’m dreaming about what that first bite was like, because I want to re-live it all over again. With so many delicious options to chose from, I will have to come back here!

I saw this place on Saturday and it was swarming with patrons so my boyfriend and I passed until Sunday when there wasn’t anyone in the shop. The owner of the store was very informative and friendly when explaining about the variety of flavored of ice cream as well as the chocolates. I settled on the Belgium chocolate & fresh strawberry ice cream. Yum! I’m not always a huge fan of strawberry but the freshness pulled through to make this wonderful. We haven’t indulged on the chocolate covered strawberries, but they look delicious! Little on the high end but I’m praying it’s due to the chocolate.

Got a waffle with apples and ice cream. $ 11 and not very big or worth the money in the taste department either. Had a four waffle order in front of us and we waited 17 minutes. Slow process given you advertise Belgian waffles. I could probably overlook either price or wait time, but not both. Service was very nice though and décor was cool. Oh, also a bummer that the customer restroom was out of order. For waiting almost 20 minutes I was very uncomfortable before and after eating with holding my bladder.

With all the stupid cheesy tourists traps that surround the Alamo, I was shocked to find such an amazing little Belgian shop. This place has Belgian waffles that taste just like the ones off the street carts in Brussels(but perhaps a tad bit more sugar). The owner was awesome, and the sign about people mistaking a waffle made in a waffle maker as «Belgian» is pure gold, and I will be using it in the future instead of my «this is not a Belgian waffle» speech. And they sell Neuhaus aka the finest chocolate in the world, which can be pretty hard to find in the states. I couldn’t shove my money at them fast enough. It was like reliving my childhood visits to my grandparents in Belgium, and to say I loved it would be an understatement.

An adorable coffee shop/bakery/dessert stop a few steps away from the riverwalk! I highly recommend coming here for some Belgian ice cream– though a bit pricey, definitely better than the other ice cream tourist traps! Texture of the ice cream was perfectly creamy and melt in your mouth delicious. They were out of one of the specialty Belgian flavors, but the gingerbread one(speculoos?) was super tasty, especially mixed with the fresh strawberry flavor. I’m a huge fan of ice cream so this was embarrassingly my second stop for ice cream in a row, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying Belgian sweets more than my previous pick! Great friendly staff also and super cute inside.

Please come in and experience the difference in a genuine recipe Belgian waffle versus what we are use to eating as waffles! It’s worth it. Delicious! Amazing! Unforgettable!

We ordered a plain leige waffle and a leige waffle with nutella and vanilla ice cream. Total came to be about $ 14. Pretty pricey in my opinion, but I guess it is a touristy neighborhood, being located near the Alamo. Service was friendly and nice and the menu is pretty comprehensive because they offer savory waffles as well. The leige waffle is chewy and crisp and delicious! Not the best I’ve had but it’s pretty good. I’ve heard leige waffles are supposed to have a more doughy, bready consistency unlike the typical Belgium waffles from Brussels, and these leige waffles do have that consistency. The nutella waffle with ice cream was delicious! The nutella was perfectly paired with the waffle, but there could have been a bigger scoop of ice cream, because that was an additional cost too. A recommendation is to offer nuts on the waffles because I went to a leige waffle place back in California that tasted amazing with the addition of nuts. Clean, nice little shop to stop by if you are around the Alamo.

I am visiting from out of state and stumbled upon this place as I was visiting the infamous Alamo in San Antonio. I’ve never had such an array of options for a helpful waffle! I ended up choosing one that came with fresh, sweet strawberries(which were so fresh that I was really surprised and happy about it) and whipped cream. Oh my goodness, I wanted to get up and order another when I was done with it! Not only did I love the waffle but the service was just as amazing. I was referred to by name and even was asked how my waffle was, it made me feel welcome to be there. I also love the ambience of the place. Nice photos, and facts and music that speaks to the small store. I recommend if you haven’t been, and even if you have been that you go!

Little pricey, very tasty. Have to check it out for yourself! Very nice selection. The staff was friendly and helpful with answering questions. Was having trouble narrowing down my choices and they were able to steer me in the right directions. The prices were high, but that’s to be expected with a name like Belgian Sweets. This was an impromptu stop and quite the unexpected treat haha I can see this as a great place for picking up a little chocolate love for maybe an Anniversary, or Valentine’s day gift(hint hint HINT!!) That was for the gentleman review readers out there. Cuz think of all the points you’ll get if your special one is expecting the old store bought box and you lay some Belgian Sweets down hahaha With head held high you can pat yourself on the back and quietly cheer«nailed it» Your special one will love the surprise :-) You’re welcome for the gift tip and thanks Belgian Sweets for the treats!

Open until ten pm on a Sunday?, it’s a bakery after my heart. Now comes a conflicted POV as both a pastry arts lover and a future business owner. The table by the window provides for the furthest removed seating from both music and kitchen noise, both of which can be a bit loud in the narrow high ceiling space most are familiar with in a downtown store front. I get to watch people curiously glance inside as they go by, come in and leave again, and the first timers trying to take it all in. The smell of coffee in the background is heavenly and I personally didn’t try it due to lack of milk alternatives but the smell of quality coffee is hard to mistake. My waffle was good, I enjoyed the quality of taste but my personal preference is for something a bit more cooked in the middle as I’m not a big fan of anything I consider«undercooked» even my cookies can’t have a gooey center. That aside I was impressed by the large amount of strawberries my #6 Fraises et crème had piled on top and the real whip was delightful though I would have loved enough to compete with the sheer number of strawberries. Though I consider it a moderate size waffle, the price($ 7) ‘was in line with the quality and quantity of overall value. The waffle makers have only room for 4 simultaneous projects at once, so while I was fine large groups should keep this time delay in mind if ordering all at once. There’s no doubt the gentleman waiting on me was a passionate lover of food arts. Which I feel explains the rather personal reply left on a fellow Unilocal elites review of negative connotation towards this business. It is hard to not take personally a offhanded remark about something you put so much thought/passion into. Though I agree with the customer that a more professional reply was warrented. It’s too easy on both sides to assume a personal stance about someone else’s remarks of your work. My experience is incomplete having not tried a coffee beverage. But with a now empty interior I can enjoy the music that’s loud like I like it but I do think a bit over level for a business encouraging conversation with your confectionary delights. However my experience was made unique as I was treated to a taste of the delicious chocolate they sell individually and by the ¼ pound. He admitted a weakness for the delicious candies that got him in trouble at home for eating store goods. The personal touch to be able to communicate with someone who so obviously loves what he does make the experience removed from your typical go in, order, eat and leave experience. The flip side of that coin unfortunately had me agreeing with the previously mentioned elite Unilocaler about the only other worker present, a long faced Asian woman who did indeed look unhappy though after reading his reply I see a busy work face mask of someone dealing with intense personal life troubles. I always enjoyed work at times like that, it was an escape a place I could be happy without guilt for leaving my troubles behind. Not everyone copes this way, and my sympathies to employees everywhere for that. But as a customer it’s not my burden unless forced upon me. Luckily he was able to run must of the customer rep part of counter work I do wonder how different my experience might have been were she alone manning the counter today as I walked in. A conversation was struck and a connection made to which enhances everything positive you find about a place. My card was used even though the minimum says $ 10 and I was a dollar short, the inability to order my preferred drink kept the price tag under and I felt he balanced that shortcoming with small considerations every small business owner needs. Overall I enjoyed it enough to come back and try more flavor of chocolate treats with good friends or by myself, with good music in the background and a quick turn over in client comings/going makes me feel like I have the place to myself. It’s nice, and were I closer I might become a regular for weekend treats. I hope the issues are ironed over to avoid future issues with customer service because I must disagree with my Unilocaler friend that the waffles are indeed tasty enough to warrant a positive review and perhaps her personal affront to the service coloured her taste buds to expect the same lackluster experience from the food. Who knows! But c’est la vie, luckily for both us the one who likes it is indeed a local. :)
