Usually pretty decent. Order of a potato, egg, bacon taco was sent back three times because of barely any egg. The second time it was all potato and instead of a slice of bacon it was chopped bacon. The third time around the taco had all three components. By then a good half hour had gone by. Then the manager had the balls to say he won’t charge for a taco that wasn’t eaten but insisted«you eat the(replacement) taco, you pay for the taco.» No thank you! This taco that they finally got right the third time around will be comped. Very rude manager. What he should have said was«sorry for the inconvenience. This one is on the house. I do apologize.» Wait staff was good though. But if there is an issue in the kitchen where they are not pushing good product that is where the problem needs to be corrected. Do not be bitchy at your paying customers, Mr. Manager. Customer service 101. Learn it. Even when we paid our bill and I tried explaining that the problem was in the kitchen and not with the customer he was not receptive to constructive criticism. Maybe because he got chastised by a woman his Mexican machismo panties got hurt. I don’t know. And he obviously never heard the phrase«customer is always right.» Will never go back.

Best enchiladas in town! Have had lunch here 4 times and have been pleased with each visit. Great menudo and carne guisada.

We’ve eaten here twice now and that’s enough. First time we weren’t that impressed, but thought maybe we’d try the place again and order something different. We still weren’t impressed and actually were turned off this last time. First and foremost, any place that charges for chips and salsa is off our list — even more so when the chips are too thick and hard and not all that tasty. Our wait time for our lunch was made even longer because our waitress seemed to «forget» that we had been seated. Food was very boring. This is such a disappointment since we remember the food at the Blanco Rd. location being totally excellent. We will not go back to this location.

The food is good, but my order has been incorrect 4 of the last 5 times I have been there. Today ordered a bacon egg potato cheese taco, came out with beans instead of bacon; asked them for a replacement and it instead came out beans bacon potato cheese… So the lesson is to be careful to make sure they have your order correct.

The service has gone down considerably. «I’d recommend you go to Taco Cabana before coming here again».The customer service and wait staff is absolutely horrific and their manager on duty is not qualified to be called the manager. She had no management nor customer service oriented skills. «Perle» I believe she referenced her name as. I sat down not«1» person acknowledged my presence. The hostess came to the back and PROCEEDED to provide a table of 3 with a menu and walked direct pass me and I pass by her when walking into the restaurant. Another waitress I practically flagged down to ask if I could get a menu appeared to not understand what not having a menu meant. So, the customer who was sitting a a side me who had come in after me and had been serviced already got up himself and proceeded to grab a menu and with astonishment he said«I can’t believe this and you were her before me». The plot thickens because by this time several more patrons walked in and were seated by the hostess and /or wait staff and received a menu immediately. Finally, a young man was servicing the gentlemen next to me asked had I been helped. He tried to redeem the restaurants bad name, bad service and also the bad foods reputation. Unfortunately to no avail. The food quality has also deteriorated. It’s not like it use to be as you can tell from recent reviews and all of us can’t be wrong and or complaining customers. Do the have new owners or something!!! When I went up to counter to speak with manager to voice my displeasure all she could repeat was«I’m sorry a million times no resolution whatsoever and the waiter/hostess who I complained about was standing right near us with a look like«who cares it’s not my restaurant, I just collect a check. I didn’t seek for my bill to be paid because I’m absolutely blessed and able to pay for $ 11 dollar meal easily. They fact that the manager didn’t even attempt to make a poor and bad experience better was very disheartening and should make many others Leary about coming here to dine. Especially with all the banners draped across the entrance. There’s way better Mexican restaurant in San Antonio than this Blanco Café. They closed the one that was in Blanco and their food and service was top notch; so was the one downtown. But this one you’d better steer clear and I hope and pray the others are not managed or owned by the same owners because this would be devastating to a once good reputation, food and name of so. I will not be return to this Blanco not any of the others here in San Antonio again.

On the evening of March 12,2016 my wife and I entered Blanco Café. A new manager in a white blouse asked how many in our party(2) and told us to sit anywhere. during the next twenty minutes no staff came near our table or acknowledged we were waiting for service. My wife and I decided the establishment did not want our business and started to leave. The new manager tried to stop us as people skipping on the tab and had a hard time understanding our complaint of NOSERVICE. We will not be back

Not really sure what all the hype is and why the great reviews on this place. I only gave it a two start instead on a one star because the service was great. However, the food was not good at all. It had hardly any flavoring at all and was just bland. It truly tasted like something out of a kit from H.E.B and you could take home and cook. We eat true authentic Mexican food on almost a daily basis and this was just a huge let down and very disappointing experience. I will for sure not come back as the food is just not worth it!

Much better service. Food is still good. Staff is friendly and attentive for the most part. Pretty busy at times, so I don’t expect someone to come by all the time. Which is fine by me. Some of the best Barbacoa tacos around.

This was our 1st time in San Antonio and it was recommended that we come here. We got there on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. However we were quickly seated & service was quick. We tried to different types of enchiladas a taco plate and the brisket. All with the exception of the brisket were excellent. Being from Texas I will say that the brisket was just ok. The experiences at the cash register was a little different make sure you know what you ordered because they add up everything from a ticket written in shorthand. Overall it was a great experience and will go back on our next visit.

My coworker got me a bean and barbacoa breakfast taco from here this morning. I’m only giving three stars since I didn’t actually eat at the restaurant but the taco tasted good and had a nice flour tortilla. I also liked that the barbacoa wasn’t greasy at all. Having this little taste makes me definitely want more!

This is probably the best Mexican food in San Antonio. I recommend the #3 Dinner — with Ranchero sauce. I am a vegetarian. Cheese enchiladas, beans and rice with Tostada. You can get the # 3 with chili con carne, too. Beans are not swimming in lard, which is great! The wait staff at this location are excellent — friendly and attentive. Best Enchiladas and Tacos in San Antonio — unless your at home in your Mom’s kitchen

I arrived at «Blanco Café» with the hopes of receiving a nice hot meal and I was less than satisfied! First and foremost, the service was was great. The waitress that waited on us was very kind and attentive and quick to bring our food out, which leads me to my next point. From the time we ordered our food and then served to us, it only took about 5 minutes; more or less. Which leads me to believe that this food is pre-cooked this, nice taste to the food, lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, but the meat was not very worm at all and the rice had a little heat to it! Bottom line, when I eat at a café, I expect to be served a nice hot meal, if it’s pre-cooked not a big deal but at least make sure its nice and hot at the very least. The customer service is what got them to the 3 stars, but food preparedness is what lacked for the 2 stars missing. Thank you.

Lunch prices were pretty pricey compared to other establishments in the Medical Center area. I wasn’t too impressed at all with the waitstaff. I thought our waitress and others around us were pretty stand-offish. On top of that, I got the shock of a lifetime when I went to pay for my food and my friend was charged $ 2 for ordering salsa. I will not come back.

I work a few doors down and its not uncommon for staff to walk over for breakfast tacos or a quick lunch. I will, however, never set foot in that place again. Do not eat here unless you are seeking a trip to the local hospital Emergency Room. I had the cheese enchiladas and within a few hours of eating them I was violently ill. I was so ill that I was unable to work the next day. I emailed the management to report the incident and I have to say their handling of the issue was pathetic. The response I got was«We haven’t had any other complaints.» There was no apology for my experience, just an overall sense that since I was the ONLY complaint(which I highly doubt) I must be making it up. Whether they believed me or not was a moot point. Good customer service dictates they should have at least expressed some empathy about it instead of writing it off so cavalier. The message I received was clear: Blanco Café doesn’t care about the quality of their food, nor do they care about the consequences of serving food that causes food poisoning in their patrons. In a town where there’s a Mexican restaurant on every corner, I can find hundreds of other places that have a sense of what constitutes a good dining experience. Blanco Café is not it.

This is a weekend tradition for my family. We have been coming here for years. The best that I have eaten: huevos rancheros with salsa on the side, their breakfast tacos, and the chorizo and egg plate was awesome. I left with chorizo power(LOL) If you plan on coming for breakfast get there early. It does get packed later on. Their enchiladas, chalupas, crispy beef tacos, and flautas are great too. We have came for dinner a few times.

It’s rare that you can be surprised by a dish you’ve eaten a thousand times. I’ve never been a huge fan of enchiladas, but I’ve always wanted to find out whether Blanco Café deserved its reputation of having the best in town. I happened to be in the neighborhood the other day, so decided to see for myself. My first observation was how completely packed the place was, which is usually a good sign. After waiting a few minutes for a table to clear out, I was seated. The menu is extensive, but I decided to go simple: Special #1(enchiladas & fajitas). The beef fajitas were pretty good, but I came for the enchiladas. There was absolutely nothing special about these enchiladas, but they somehow managed in their simplicity to completely redefine the dish for me. This is what enchiladas are supposed to taste like: pure, honest, old-school Tex-Mex at its finest. The beans and rice were also very good, and I scooped up some of the beans and leftover enchilada gravy into one of the fresh flour tortillas. I slathered the other one with butter. So Blanco Café may not fancy, but it is the real deal. Best enchiladas in town? In my opinion, yes they are.

Ok, so from the outside the Blanco Café looks like the dive to end all dives. .. and parking is indeed circumscribed. But go inside and you’re given a friendly invitation to sit anywhere in the large, clean, light-filled room. Busy but enthusiastic staff brought our drinks quickly, and gave us ample time to peruse the extensive menu, which offers all the usual Tex-Mex array plus a few things encountered less often. We were there late on Saturday morning, so chose breakfast fare — Chilaquiles with barbacoa and corn tortillas for me, which were, to put it gently, excellent. There are little containers of light green hot salsa on the table, which goes great down the middle of one of their puffy corn tortillas with just a little added salt.(If your taste buds were still asleep, they won’t be after this.) Nice fresh jalapeño slices perked up the chilaquiles as did the generous portion of melted yellow cheese on top. Lots of families sharing a late breakfast/early lunch, everybody happy — and some great little dulce de leche empanadas at the cash to take for a later snack. What’s not to like?
