The Perfect place for dinner. Every dish sampled was delicious and cooked perfectly! Along with the attentive staff from start to finish, and the relaxed, comfortable environment our dinner party had a fantastic meal. I can’t wait to come back to Bliss next time we’re in San Antonio.

I came here for an early Valentines but would definitely come back anytime. The price is higher than 90% of SA restaurants but the flavors the chef/s put together cannot be duplicated. Japanese himachi tostadas, a bottle of wine, brizone, duck, and cheesecake made for a wonderful meal. 5 stars!

Many fine dining establishments can execute a great dish but it’s a pleasure when you enjoy a meal that is creative, unique and done to perfection. The hamachi tostadas are impressive and the scallops are superior. The ambiance and service was great. Bliss was a perfect place for me to splurge on my birthday. Highly recommend.

We chose Bliss for restaurant week because I thought it had some really great offerings and the fixed price point was nice. Bliss is definitely a splurge, so this allowed us to try more of their dishes. Our service was impeccable. We were seated right away(we made reservations through their site) and served delicious bread and butter to start our meal. We chose to pair our 3 course menu with wine for an extra fee, so for $ 25 each we had 3 full glasses to enjoy with each of our dishes. I definitely recommend this option! We started with a nice crisp white wine, followed by a red, and finished with a sweet dessert wine(our least fave, but still a great finish). All of our food was phenomenal. The hashimi tostadas and oyster sliders were delish. I definitely wished I had ordered the sliders as well; they were my favorite of the two options. Our main courses were fantastic: the scallops(OMGSOGOOD) and the lamb. Both were perfectly plated and paired with tasty sauces. And although we usually skip out on dessert, it was a nice finish to our meal and I’m so glad we were able to try them. The flourless chocolate cake was my favorite; it came with a rich caramel sauce and coffee gelato on the side(which must have been prepared with the tiniest of ice cream scoops!). We also tried the goat cheesecake — yum. Overall, I’d highly recommend all of our dishes. The evening continued to get better and better with each dish and glass of wine, and our service never faltered. This won’t be a place that I can come back to often, only because I’m not made of money, but if I could I would!

This place was without a doubt a wonderful experience. Our waitress was beyond amazing. The service that is provided at this restaurant is yet to be matched else where. They offer warm bread and butter to everybody who eats here. And you can definitely fill yourself up with these things alone because they’re just so darn good. Appetizers: we had the Shimi tostadas and the baked oysters. Both of which were absolute amazing. I had the duck which came with geese fat and sweet potato and Brussels sprouts.(I’ve never tried duck before) it was delicious. My description does NOT do this dish’s justice that is deserves. It was full of flavor. And I wanted to lick the plate clean. Literally. My lady ordered the snapper and it came with an avocado and rice side that was absolutely delicious.

So, let me start by saying that our actual meal was delicious. We started with the small charcuterie plate with the jamon seranno, smoked duck breast, truffled goat cheese, calabrese peppers, and herbed olives. It was all delicious. We had ordered the oyster sliders, but our waiter forgot to place that order, so we never received it. We got our salads(me, the Bibb lettuce, my husband the kale Caesar). Both were again, delicious. 45 minutes later we were just getting our main courses(scallops with grits; duck three ways), which means it was about 1 hour and 15 min into the service. The restaurant was busy, but not«slammed», so it is hard to believe that the kitchen was that backed up. All in all our meal was awesome, but our service was, well, off. In the restaurant’s defense, both management and my waiter were INCREDIBLY apologetic and very nice when they asked how our meal was going and we brought our disappointment to there attention. In fact, not only did they comp 1 glass of the wine we ordered, they also comped ½ of our meal. We did not ask for that, nor did we make a huge deal about the way off service… they just tried to make things right. So, why three stars??? Well, awesome food, but the meal was more than just about the food– it was also about the experience which was sub-par and I can’t give credit to the experience for just comping a meal. So, will we give them another chance? Sure, everyone can have an off night. And I honestly hope that next time I can give them as high of a review for the service as I would give for the taste of the food. Not quite Blissful yet.

Bliss was absolutely delicious and a perfect«fancy» evening out while on vacation. Every bite was beautifully put together. My Risotto was easily the best I ever had with green tomatoes and jalapenos enhancing the flavor. Oyster sliders were incredibly delicious. Our waiter was clearly made for fine dining and did an impeccable job. Beautiful beautiful location, building and outdoor area.

Not sure there’s much I can say that hasn’t been said about Bliss. It’s a gorgeous restaurant and ideal for romantic dinners to celebrate special occasions. Oyster Sliders, yes. Pork Belly, yes. Cilantro Risotto, yes. Service, outstanding. Chorizo and bacon Amatriciana, god yes. Monkfish, worth a try. Bliss, not quite, but worth a try.

3.5 stars. After a couple of Jefferson Reserve pours over ice, we headed over to Bliss as a little pre-dinner before First Friday. We started with a charcuterie board where we essentially told the waitress to go ahead and surprise us. That turned out to mean a delightful Spain-centric selection of cheese(Valdeon blue cheese, Manchego) paired with jamon serrano, hot soppresata, and an absolutely stunningly flavorful selection of duck breast. The board was paired with honeycomb, whole grain mustard, cornichons, and almonds. Overall, a decent board and a fine start to the meal. Next up were the chicken fried oyster sliders with tiny slivers of candied bacon adorning the plate. The sliders lived up to their considerable hype, and along with the duck breast and my friend’s rather extraordinary red wine selection, encompassed the highlights of the meal. Mains were a bit less interesting. The beef tenderloin was slightly tougher than I would have enjoyed and while the snapper risotto certainly gained points for creativity, the resulting amalgam won’t stand out among the better renditions of the Italian standard. At a relatively high $ 38 price point, I was expecting a bit more from this dish. Given the strength of the appetizers, I’d likely come here again as I am almost positive there are other main dishes I would enjoy on the menu. It should be noted that the service is professional and friendly, and the space is nice and intimate. It would probably make for an excellent second date location in San Antonio.

I had heard about Bliss for many years now and finally had the opportunity to have dinner at this amazing little gem in San Antonio’s Southtown neighborhood. The restaurant itself is perfect — great atmosphere and décor. The service was spot on — she was energetic, professional and excellent at explaining the menu in detail. We started off with the charcuterie and cheese board — so amazing, I enjoyed the duck entrée with whipped sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts — seriously one of the best entrees ever!, and we shared the key lime pie dessert with the amazing meringue — sinfully good! Bliss is truly a culinary delight and is a must experience restaurant — you will not be disappointed!

From start to finish, the dishes were perfect and the service was impeccable. We were seated immediately, water filled, and oyster sliders started. The biscuits for the sliders were crispy, and the bacon was like pork candy. They split the wedge salad for us, without any charge so we could save room for dessert. I’m not sure how they make their onion rings so light to top the salad, but the buttermilk batter helps. The Pork and Beans pork shank(akin to Osso Buco) worked well and the beans were a good mashed potato substitute. The birthday boy, my date, had the snapper and shrimp risotto, which was unique, with flavors of lime, tomatillo, and jalapeño. Dessert was the pecan pie, with a birthday candle for my boyfriend, and the goat cheese cheesecake for me. The brittle with that cheesecake was the best part! We chose this place because the reviews were better than others regarding service, and they blew us away with an excellent meal before a movie at the San Antonio Film Festival.

Came for restaurant week and was not disappointed. My party and I tried to get everything on the dinner menu: Appetizers –Chicken fried oysters: amazing and so adorable(like little little burgers) –Pork belly: rich and savory –Hamachi Tostada: my favorite-so fresh Entrees –Scallops: good but not my favorite –Australian Lamp Chops: PERFECT, not to gamey, excellent flavor, just UGH –Pork and Beans: Pretty good, didn’t stand out to me too much Dessert –Cheescake: the pistachio brittle was so. good. And the goat cheesecake was oddly good –Cantaloupe Sorbet: FRESH(my favorite word) Overall Bliss has great food, great, friendly service, and a beautiful, chill atmosphere.

High expectations that weren’t matched. Went with 2 others who agreed. Started with the oysters sliders. Biscuit was light and delicious, but oyster flavor was completely absent. Taste of blind and you’d have no idea there were oysters. Snapper was extremely overcooked and overseasoned. Risotto was flavorless. Lamb was outstanding, best of the bunch, but again weird components. Fresno chiles were out if place. The duck was confounding. Each component was good, but didn’t go together at all. The salad and Brussels sprouts were totally out of place. And, even more upsetting, was that I’m eating here in August and they’re serving sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Dessert, on the other hand, was outstanding. Pot de crème and key lime pie were both great. But, again, composure issues. Why was there vanilla bean ice cream with pot de crème? Most things were prepared well but the integration of ingredients and the ingenuity were completely lacking.

This place was legit in every way. Bread… Great. Oyster sliders… Great. Wedge salad… Great. I had the scallops as my meal and my wife had the pork belly appetizer. Everything was great. The scallops were the best food I’ve ever had. This is a top 5 restaurant in San Antonio, this is one you have to try. Not to mention, the server was great and so was the manager. Nicolas was the server.

Bliss was perfection! I spent some time trying to decide where we should go for a special night out on our trip to SA and this was absolutely the right choice. It was a nice quiet walk from our hotel on the River Walk and supremely better than anything else there! My husband was charmed by the little cat roaming around outside the restaurant and the ambiance was warm and intimate. I am looking forward to coming back one day when I’m not pregnant and can enjoy lingering over a bottle of wine late into the evening! I started with the heirloom tomato salad – nothing says summer like tomatoes and burrata! The Australian Lamb Loin was fantastic; all of the flavors and textures were beautifully orchestrated. My husband very much enjoyed his Duck Duck Foie Gras. Dessert was magnificent – the Platonic ideal of Key lime pie! I had to close my eyes and savor each bite! The service was excellent. The hostesses were very welcoming. Being indecisive, I appreciated the waiter’s recommendations and the staff kept me hydrated! Dinner at Bliss was certainly the best meal I’ve had all year and one of the very best I’ve had in my lifetime!

Yup BLISS lives up to the hype! My friend’s birthday was coming up so we made a reservation for 10 on a Tuesday night. Initially they were only able to accommodate 8. Luckily because of a cancelation we got a table for 10. Once we arrived at the restaurant we were given two seating options, dining room or the chef’s table. Wait, what?! Chef’s table please! I highly highly recommend the chef’s table. It’s an awesome experience to be in the kitchen to see and smell everything behind the scenes. It’s also more private so you can be as loud as you want! For my meal I ordered the red snapper and shrimp risotto. The fish was cooked perfectly. But that risotto was so creamy and delicious with lovely pieces of shrimp mixed in. Next time I definitely want to get the rack of lamb or bronzino. The bronzino is served whole and carved table side! I also brought a birthday cake and our server informed me that there would be a ~$ 4 charge per person. What?! That’s almost more than the cake cost! We agreed on just blowing out the candles and saving the cake for later. Luckily at the end of our meal they decided to waive the cake cutting fee! Cake for everyone! Overall awesome experience. Excellent service and food! Try out the chef’s table. I would love to check out the tasting menu next time.

Wow. Just WOW. Wow for the food. Double WOW for the service. Yes– unfortunately wow when the bill comes, but sometimes you just have to splurge. Appetizers: Sashimi tostadas PERFECT. Light, crisp and perfectly balanced. they come in 3 and we were able to add a couple more so that each of us got one. I could have eaten all of them myself! Oyster sliders– oh those tiny little baby biscuits with a expertly fried oyster, great flavor Able to split the roasted red & gold beets salad– yummy! For meals– several had the scallops and man those were AMAZING. I would definitely order next time. Someone had the snapper and again it was very, very good. I wanted to be a little different and I had the pork and beans. But this is no ordinary pork and beans– this is a fully, satisfying portion of pork shank with those white heavenly, buttery beans– easily could be shared by two and be fully satisfied. Desserts shared the following: Crème de pot– tasty Short cake– disappointing, the bread was a little dry, needed more sauce Key lime pie– WOW, WOW, WOW you MUST try if you are going to have one dessert Goat cheesecake– tasty Flourless chocolate cake– tasty Gerardo– I think that was his name– provided excellent service, always provided suggestions(but not overly), definitely customer service oriented– you want only one– sure. You want to split a salad– absolutely! Just the kind of service you expect. Just impeccable. Yes its expensive. Yes it can be loud especially when they have a full house– so it is difficult to carry on a conversation but overall but sometimes when you really want to have excellent food and perfect service you gotta pay the price. Would highly, highly recommend– just save your money for the splurge :)
