I love Cappy’s. The décor is cool, atmosphere is wonderful, service is always amazing and the best part — pretty much everything tastes great. I love coming here for brunch after church. The portions are huge and the chef always has something special on the menu. My recent favorite was a French toast crusted with corn flakes. So, so delicious. The eggs are always creamy and you get a mountain of them. If you like lobster, the lobster tail and scrambled eggs(has lobster incorporated into it!!) is delicious! The portions are huge so it justified the cost. And you can easily split an entrée with a lucky friend. A bonus — coffee gets refilled constantly. My favorite part of brunch is the beginning. You get a lovely basket of interesting mini rolls and scones and strawberry butter. For dinner — the entrée portions are enormous. I think they do seafood justice so pretty much anything with fish or shellfish is good. My favorite I think is the gulf shrimp over dirty rice. The mussels are also good. They are served in a big bowl and you get buttery toast points as well. The steaks are ok. They can be a bit dry sometimes. Otherwise, they are inexpensive for the cut and portion size. Dessert is also wonderful here. The sticky toffee pudding is very, very sweet. I would avoid it if you don’t want cavities. But all the desserts pair well with coffee. Give Cappys a chance if you haven’t already! Bring a pal and share the dishes!

Found this place on Unilocal and was intrigued by all the great reviews! We came here on Mother’s Day with no reservations(which was dumb on our part) but luckily we were able to eat at the bar. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my fiancé got the omnlet. We were impressed and would definitely go back!

You won’t be disappointed here. Everything was fantastic! Diver scallops are a melody of great tastes. Order the side of lobster mashed potatoes! Also a bottle of Emeritus Hallberg Ranch!

This restaurant has been a favorite in San Antonio for many many years. The atmosphere is very inviting and the service is awesome. I got the Potato Crusted Halibut. It was like eating a piece of chicken breast. So thick and tender. You can’t go wrong with Halibut unless it’s not cooked right. It was so flakey and tastey, I wish I had more! The heck with the vegetables, just give me the Halibut! For desert I had the warm sticky toffee cake with a scoop of ice cream. Just mix it all together and make ice cream from that combo and you have a winner. YUMMO! Winner winner Halibut dinner!

Our new MUSTDO& favorite — Cappy’s on Broadway is the 2015 Diner’s Choice for Open Table. We have so many favorites in San Antonio, it was difficult to agree as a family to try something new for Sunday Brunch. Our teen-ager was first to declare it was great!!! We had a huge variety to chose from fish to waffles. All of it was prepared and served to perfection. Have I mentioned this is a Bakery? YES!!! so prepare yourself for carbs. The atmosphere is best, from the artists work on the walls, to the outdoor /deck there is not a bad table in the place. THIS is really as good as it gets.

Got there a few minutes before opening time at 10am on a Sunday. Weather was great~ cool and breezy, so we sat on the patio which was lovely ~ natural mature trees canopy for shade. The service was great, all the food we ordered was amazing; nice presentation and flavorful! My birthday Bloody Mary with Titos was strong and flavorful with a salt and pepper rim I enjoyed ~ cheese filled olives, and a smoky piece of bacon. I can only say positive things… I highly recommend. Looks like we might have needed reservations for the patio if we had shown up any later. Dog friendly patio also.

I love everything about Cappy’s! Last visit I ate Market Grilled salad, which was fabulous. The crab cake is so good too! The service is always top notch. The food servers know the menu and are able to make recommendations, if you are unsure. Wine list works for me too. The desserts always sound good, but I generally opt for a second glass of wine. I have been eating at Cappy’s since the 80’s and have never been disappointed.

6 of us from different parts of the country were in San Antonio for weekend fun. Cappy’s definitely helped in starting off the weekend right with an amazing Saturday brunch. — The restaurant is in a quaint neighborhood away from the hustle bustle of the hotel zone — Staff is very friendly and is prompt in their service — Food is of course the crowning jewel — Eggs benedicts with the perfectly poached eggs and delectable hollandaise sauce — Pancakes which have just the most memorable flavor — Meats that are cooked to perfection — If you are a party of less than or equal to 4 try and sit out, its pleasang

Definitely worth a visit! Staff was friendly and the food was good! I love the restaurant layout and the bar is adorable. A friend and I went for Sunday brunch, it was just the laid back atmosphere we were looking for while still having a sort of up scale charm. The food was good but my eggs were a little runny for my taste. It’s the perfect place to go to brunch then do some shopping or check out the other bars in the area!

If you’re looking for a date or night out with friends and family at a fancy restaurant but don’t want to spent too much money, this is it. Nice service and great atmosphere. I love their patio set up. It’s clean, neat and great for girl night out. Also the food and service are awesome. I had red snapper, grilled oysters, and ribeye. The fish tastes amazing and fresh even if it has some shelf in it. My grilled oysters turned out good as its decoration. Ribeye was tasty and cooked the way I wanted. Definitely come back and recommended.

We tried Cappy’s for the first time tonight. We had 3 appetizers: chicken and duck liver paté, crispy shrimp and Brussel sprouts, char-broiled oyster… they were really good. after that we had the scallops and the Ribeye… Amazing!!! service is super friendly!!! I will recommend this place to anybody!!! We’ll be back!

I am never disappointed when I come here. I have come for brunch several times and for dinner a couple of times. I especially enjoy eating outside on the patio on a warm day. I have only dined inside once and it was louder than I prefer, so I will stick to going on warm days and enjoying the outdoor seating. The wait staff has always been nice and helpful. The food is always great! I often get the Mustang Chicken(so good!), but my favorite dish I have had there was the Duck. Unfortunately, the duck was a special off-menu item, and I have not been lucky enough to have it again. They should make this a regular item because it is the best duck I have had! My boyfriend usually gets the Sunday Breakfast, which is a piece of steak, pancakes, and eggs… maybe something else, I can’t remember! He loves it and gets it almost every time. I love that brunch on the weekends seems to be local regulars; the vibes are good and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Oh, and the bread that they serve prior to brunch! Yum! I will come again, and again.

On our way to the Madonna concert we searched Unilocal and made reservations an hour prior. A local family owned restaurant we were seated by Trevor and told we would make our concert with no problem. I mentioned we saw the Brussels Sprouts on Unilocal and he immediately ordered them on the house. My husband ordered the rib eye with bone marrow butter and I had the halibut. We got them so quickly it surprised us. Both were out of this world. The service was impeccable and they totally made us feel at home. I would highly recommend and come back next time we are in town. Excellent service and food.

BLUF: An Amazing brunch! It had been awhile since we had eaten at Cappy’s & for no good reason. This morning we had a wonderful experience from the minute we sat down. Chef Gab has assembled a menu to please everyone and the flavors will keep you asking for more. The service is still top-notch and all of the staff deserve positive accolades. We will be back and soon.

Went on a weekend afternoon for lunch with friends. I had the«mustang chicken» which was basically breaded chicken with horseradishy sauce. excellent! Also tasted the steak fries which were quite delicious. I would definitely go back if I was in the area.

Met a local friend with impeccable taste so I was excited to get my brunch on. I parked in the back and got a little confused by the separate entrances. Never really got an explanation but it appears one much smaller side may cater to the grab-n-go clientele while the other is for your sit down and catch up over 6 mimosas crowd. We may or may not have had 6 mimosas. I researched the menu in advance and planned to order the Homard, but our server made one of the specials sound like it was 9,000 calories and therefore delicious. It was some sort of sunny side up egg on a pancake with dry cole slaw on top(it sounded MUCH fancier when she described it to us). It was OK but I kinda wished I’d gotten the Homard. The breadbasket was filled with mini-treats and we happily dove in because anything tiny is instantly adorable. While I love cornbread, I detest corn and am not the target audience for putting real corn in the aforementioned cornbread. I plucked it out and it was delicious. The uncounted mimosas were a bit unremarkable. Nothing superior to what you make it home, even though there’s some sort of syrup and cherry at the bottom that appears to make it exotic. But they never naturally mix in the drink so I’m not quite sure why it’s there. Our bill came out to $ 82 dollars and we just split the bill to make like easier. Our bill returned with my date being charged $ 82 and me $ 42. I’m not great at math, but… After a weirdly long discussion with our server and the manager, it appeared that they corrected the bill on their end but the wrong version was sent to our table. The«oh, I think I just threw the original one out» didn’t make either of us feel comfortable about this being rectified efficiently. To his credit, the manager gave us his card but the whole thing was an odd ending to our brunch. I’m willing to believe this was a fluke and would need to go back to confirm. But I live in Austin and not sure I’ll have the opportunity.

I had limited time in San Antonio, so I was only able to get to Cappy’s once, but when I’m in town, I’ll be going back again. The restaurant is located a ways from downtown, so one must make an effort to get there(10 – 12 minutes drive from the Riverwalk). I loved the food and liked the atmosphere. I wish I’d been able to try more dishes. — The gin & tonic was just as it should have been — The gulf shrimp and Brussels sprouts were tasty, though the focus is on the Brussels sprouts and not the shrimp(which is fine, just not what you’d expect from the highlighting of the shrimp on the menu) — The grilled market salad had a good mix of greens, walnuts, beets, chevre and grilled star fruit(the market part of the salad). The star fruit were crunchy, and tasted mostly of the grill and oil — they weren’t ripe, and star fruit flavor was not in evidence. — The mustang chicken was probably pretty standard for Texas, but for an out-of-towner, it was a delightful change. The flattened and fried chicken was stacked on mashed potatoes, root vegetables and green beans, topped with a creamy sauce and a swirl of hot sauce. — The sticky toffee pudding(sort of like gingerbread soaking with a caramel-like sauce and vanilla ice cream) was an unexpected surprise and quite delicious When I go back, I want to try the blue crab cakes, the char-grilled oysters, the rack of lamb, the diver scallops, the mussels, the pan roasted chicken and the beef tenderloin — obviously, that will take several trips.
