I went to the McNay Art Museum for their Halloween night out and Dirty Dawgs food truck was the main attraction, well actually the only food truck. The line was crazy long and there were quite a few people waiting for their food. I decided to wait until the line died down to go order. The line kept going through the whole movie! I just decided to jump in line when I started reading their signature Dawg list, man was it impressive. The menu expanded from a German Dawg with sauerkraut to Dawgs wrapped in bacon! A regular Dawg cost only $ 3 and people these are no regular Dawgs, they are big enough to fill a 10 year old boy! I decided to go with the Mexican Dawg, bacon wrapped with avocado, tomatoes, jalapeños, salsa, cheddar cheese, and creama fresca! Man it was amazing! I will visit this food truck again and I look forward to trying all of their signature Dawgs. As posted in another review, I would have to agree… Don’t waste your time on the fries, they were too greasy(limp) and had no flavor. Oh and it was a long wait(25 min) but the staff was friendly and it was worth the wait! Check them out!

Not only did I have a great first-time experience out at Boardwalk on Bulverde, I thoroughly enjoyed sampling a couple of different hot dogs from Dirty Dawgs. The German Dawg — just like the description says, this bacon-wrapped dawg is topped with heaping loads of delicious sauerkraut. The bacon was done perfectly, not all limp and just the right amount of crispiness. The Mexican Dawg — OMG Heaven in my mouth! This one was the tastiest one. How could you go wrong with a bacon-wrapped dawg complimented with beans, onions, tomatoes, guac, crema fresca, salsa verde, and cheddar cheese??? The Texas Chili Dawg — a classic, this one was topped with generous portions of chili and cheddar cheese. It would have been nice if the cheese had melted completely. Prices are about $ 6 to $ 7 per dawg, plus additional cost if adding extra toppings, plus more additional cost if adding fries. Until I have had a chance to try all of the food trucks at Boardwalk on Bulverde, so far this one is my favorite. Credit cards accepted.

I would rate them a 4⁄5 for the hotdogs and a 1⁄5 for the fries. We went Saturday for lunch and got a Boston, a Mexican and split an order of fries. The dogs were big and delicious. I would recommend either. I liked the Boston better and my wife preferred the Mexican. We did agree the fries were not good. They looked good but were soggy and limp. They had no real flavor. So on short the dogs are great but fries are horrible. Don’t be in a rush it took a good 10 – 15 for the food and there was only 1 lady ahead of us.

The owner was dubbed as the«Sausage King» by his friends since he had a career in sausage casings. After 15 years he decided to pursue his passion and open up a food truck. His experience of traveling across the US gives us menu choices such as the Mexican Dawg, Philly Cheese Dawg, and German Dawg. It’s nice to see the creative ingredients to each dog. I ended up with keeping it simple and basic. I ordered the Original with Bacon and took advantage of the little condiment bar on the side. It was reasonably priced. The bacon twisting around the sausage compliments it really well. I don’t like my bacon crispy so I’m glad it wasn’t like that, it was soft, but a little under cooked. It had a grilled flavor to it. The sausage can be compared to the polish sausage at a Costco food court, which is delicious, although a little smaller. I’m not here to compare a tiny food truck to a giant corp like Costco though. The fries are fresh cut, cooked in peanut oil, and something that reminded me of the fries I get at my local State Fair. Closest comparison would be to Five Guys fries. The bread was toasted to perfection. Pros: — Quality Sausage — Reasonably priced — Creative menu — Great fries — Quick friendly service — No extra charge for using your credit card Cons: — Bacon was a little undercooked — Fries should’ve been hotter at time of service 4⁄5 for the Sausage King.

Have you ever enjoyed the mixing of hot dogs, jalepenos and cilantro(and of course, cheese) in your mouth? If not, you HAVE to try it! I’ve lived all over so I am pretty knowledgable about hot dogs, so I’m a little hesitant to try their version of some of the more well-known hot dogs, but who has EVER heard of a Mexican hot dog? Well, I have, now, and I’m hooked! I loved the texture of the buns and the hot dog had just the right amount of jalepenos and cilantro. I sometimes find cilantro to be a little overwhelming, but I can always take the heat from a jalepeno. Both of these were just right. My mouth is watering for one right now!

AWKWARD. I was SO disappointed when I tried this truck at the Toys for Tot event at the Boardwalk on Bulverde. Firstly, I wasn’t sure if the truck was open even though they had stated they would be. And after seeing a few people go up to the door, I went over to try it out. After standing there for two minutes waiting, a guy exits the truck(he was dressed like a chef, so I’m assuming he was the chef) and I said hi to him, he completely ignored me. And then when he went to open his window, he knocked over his whiteboard right onto my mother without apologizing. He picked it up off of her and proceeded on to open the window. WEIRD. Then, when I asked him if they were opening, he ignored me. So then I told my mom we needed to go try another truck since this one was OBVIOUSLY not open or interested in serving to us. He then responded and said they were open but certain items on their menu would take longer to make than others. My mom ordered just a plain old hot dog, nothing on it. It took 15 minutes. I’m sure since this was their first weekend open, they probably aren’t used to making hot dogs at a fast speed or whatever. But the rudeness of the chef or whoever it was, was completely uncalled for and inappropriate.
