I dined here by the recommendation of a Puerto Rican friend of mine who wanted me to try cuisine that he grew up eating. As we pulled up to the restaurant you wouldn’t imagine you were about to dine anywhere nice with how vacant the parking lot was. Once inside it’s a little off-putting as there is a wooden picnic table and other tables and chair that look as though they came from someone’s backyard cookout. There was loud island music playing and little decoration to break up the monotony of the interior. As I’m sure by now I’ve built the place up to be a complete waste of time, there is nothing short of blissful magic that comes from the kitchen. I am completely new to this cuisine but I knew without a doubt that I wanted to try Mofongo. So I did, I ordered Mofongo Relleno Camarones(essentially plantain and shrimp). It only took one bite and I was completely hooked. I don’t know how to best describe the whole plate since this was very new to me but the flavors were unbelievable. I also learned from my friend that there is an item not on the menu that you can ask for. It’s a chicken breast that is covered with a blend of guava and a sauce that I can’t describe. I can only hope that when I visit this location again in the future that the food is as delectable as it was the first time. I can only hope that if you’re ready this, you are ready to seek this place out.
