A client took me here last week for a quick bite to eat. I can’t speak for the parking, we literally walked across the street it was so close. The chips have an amazingly yummy seasoning(note: they also sell it by the bag) and the salsa they serve with the chips is super spicy. They have a large set menu but I went with the chalk board special and ordered a crab meat chalupa. My chalupa did not knock me off my feet but it was good. The check comes in a cute little bucket full of candy. I decided I didn’t care if it looked professional and eagerly grabbed a blow pop. Just add a Mexican martini and *boom* this would be a 5 star review. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here but if I need to make another on site visit this is my go to spot.

Rating des Ortes: 4 San Antonio, TX
After growing up in two of the most dense Hispanic populations in the United States, Los Angeles and San Antonio, I thought I knew the many variations of Mexican food. I happened across a fantastic surprise, and San Antonio, you’re in for it, too! Chef Jaime and his family have taken over a 32-year-old San Antonio staple, Taco Port, and while they’ve decided to maintain about a dozen of the Port’s recipes, they’re bringing a whole new flavor to Mexican cuisine in the Alamo City. Hailing from Veracruz, Mexico and having run successful restaurants South of our border, they’re creating fresh, flavorful, and traditional Mexican food. The way it should be! With delicious offerings like«taco de frijol con chorizo especial,» a greaseless chorizo with beans served over a flour tortilla; «Los Huevos de la Abuela» featuring sunken tortillas served over scrambled eggs and oaxaca cheese; savory«Enfrijoladas», yep, corn tortilla, chicken, and a bean bath with cream and cheese; and«Panuchos» a corn tortilla served with beans and cochinita pibil and red onion sauce. I had intended to visit Taco Port for a quick bite to eat and to have a few laughs with Ed and Martha, but instead I met the new owner, and learned about the transformation of a rich heritage that is now sure to continue in a new light thanks to Jaime and his family. Stop in and be among the first to welcome the new kids on the block who are sure to make a lasting impression. Their hospitality got me to take a seat, their generosity and genuine excitement about their craft makes me excited for the next time I get to eat their food!
