Gigi’s Cupcakes of San Antonio

Gigi’s cupcake flavor vary everyday so it’s always exciting to try a new one. Along with their regular cupcakes, they also carry gluten free and sugar free varieties.

I am pretty much done giving this place my business. Customer service is just plain bad!
The staff seem bothered by actually having to take an order and basic things like greeting a client, making a suggestion or — the horror — selling you more than one box at a time (they repeatedly told me I should have placed an order ahead of time it I wanted extra boxes even if their case was full); I know of no other business that complains when you buy things or make an extra order so the owner might want to take note as she is losing revenue !
My co worker and I have spent a lot of money here buying gifts for clients; but again my last experience was typical. I had a large order placed; they opened and all staff took off to the back leaving the store front empty and me just standing there waiting until someone could be bothered to return to the storefront. When someone did, I was told me order was bit ready… Why take an order for 9 if you cannot get it ready on time ?‘
Finally the cakes are just not that good! They are so top heavy the frosting slips off, and that much frosting makes
them so sweet my kids will not even eat them. My clients were but they impressed and suggested I switch to the local Bundt cake shop which after trying, and receiving great customer service and better cakes for a lot less, I have switched to for my catering needs !

The cupcakes taste good, but not each cupcake has the Gigi swirl and I have yet to be greeted when entering. These are basic expectations that are not consistently being met.

Beautiful cakes but utterly bland. Had samples of several mini cupcakes and every last one was uninspired, particularly the cake part. The frosting tasted very artificially sweetened. Ill pass.

The Apple pie cupcake is my new favorite!!! Double stuff is still one of the greats and my nephews love birthday surprise. The mini cupcakes are perfect for little ones or a quick sugar fix :)

I have given Gigi’s several tries before writing this review. The first was years ago, probably when it first opened in SA maybe 3 – 4 years back. I was not impressed. It tasted generic, like something you’d get at HEB. The frosting was enormous, and if it was good frosting, that might be a good thing, but it tasted not so great. This is coming from a major sweet tooth. If you ever had the chance to try Kate’s Frosting cupcakes, those were amazing and tasted well made and quality. Unfortunately, she closed up shop, so I am now unsure of where to find a good cupcake in SA. I’m not really sure how Gigi’s stays in business and especially how they seem to have a chain all over the country. They must do something right, but the cupcakes are icky.

My mom ordered me 11 different cupcakes for my birthday ⁹⁄₁₅ over the phone. All I had to do was go pick them up. There was a little confusion there, but we got it all settled it wasn’t anything that would upset me.
I have loved all but one of the cupcakes I had, but that was just my opinion because my boyfriend loved the cupcake that I did not like.
Now let’s talk about the cupcakes the chocolate chip cookie dough is to die for. I see people complaining about the amount of frosting that they use, but gourmet cupcakes normally have a lot of frosting the frostings were one of my favorite things. I also loved the white midnight cupcake and I do not like chocolate cake and that one was delicious.
I will continue to do business at Gigi’s. It has been a amazing experience. I love y’alls cupcakes!

This place closes at 7pm. I’d never go into a restaurant 30 minutes before they close, but grabbing a couple cupcakes shouldn’t have been a problem. Except they didn’t have cupcakes.
Yep, no cupcakes. They only had one kind, and only a few of those. They had a fridge full of assorted cupcakes, they didn’t look like individual orders, so I can only suspect they were just ready to close. My clue was the moped floor and the mop bucked with the mop in it sideways to block the dinning area.
If this place wasn’t so difficult to get to from 1604 it wouldn’t be as bad driving over there. Traffic is always congested at the intersection where you have to do a turn around.
Do yourself, and clearly the cupcake place, a favor and don’t go there anytime within a few hours of them closing. Instead do what we did, go to the Whole foods. Their pastries are better any way.

Drier than the Sahara Desert. Rated one star only for their existence. I really wanted to like this place. They gave away samples — it had a hard lump of awfulness inside of it — I thought they were just giving away the older cupcakes but the ones I purchased were just as bad (I threw half of mine away — yes that bad). When I got in the car I asked my 15-​year old son what he thought and he said, «Stale». The chocolate candies on the cupcakes had that white finish as if they’d been sitting there for a week. Do not understand the awards on the counter. After paying nearly $ 7 for two cupcakes I will not be giving them a second chance. I will be returning to Cupcake Couture at the Forum where I’m guaranteed a delicious cupcake every time.

This has to be some sort of joke. The cupcakes at this place had a leaning tower of icing that was so awful it tasted like pure crisco shortening! No thanks! The cake wasn’t even moist… i went twice just to make sure It wasn’t a nightmare the first time. Total epic failure, because it has potential to be so much better — I prefer homemade style cupcakes without the Diabetic– induced icing. Won’t go a 3^rd time lol.

Cupcake flavor combinations are very interesting. They constantly change so it is always exciting to come taste new ones. The cake base is really good, moist and not too sweet. They are also very pretty and look almost perfect. The only turning point for me is the frosting. There is just waaaaay to much frosting. It feels terribly wasteful to scoop most of it off but how can anyone eat that much frosting?

Great cupcakes and love the mini ones. Customer service has opportunity for improvements. I went in to order cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday party and I felt rushed. Not as welcoming when making an order; I felt I was a burden. Wish they were more friendlier and took time to explain things.

Frosting is too much but if you just knock some of it off it’s delicious and not too overwhelming. Cream cheese is the best kind of frosting. It’s always great to ask for a recommendation and everyone is awesome with helping you out.

The cupcake was okay. I got the red velvet cupcake with the cream cheese frosting. The frosting is good but there is ALOT of it on the cupcake. It was disappointing because the cupcake itself is not moist. We were there for a bit which was good because it took me a good while to work through all of that frosting. The location has a really big seating area. It would be a perfect place to study and relax if they did a better job of cleaning the tables. Every table had major crumbs everywhere and left over trash. We cleared a table out ourselves to sit there to study a few hours. If they had outlets around too that would probably attract alot of students to spend some time in their shop. Overall, just an ok experience.

Delicious, moist cupcakes! They look amazing and taste just as wonderful. Price is fair compared to the size. The minis are super cute and just enough for a quick bite. Staff is friendly and helpful.

First time buying gourmet cupcakes and I was not dissapointed! They are incredibly beautiful and they taste amazing. The staff is very friendly and attentive and will make sure you are taken care of.

Placed an order 3 weeks in advance for 3 dozen mini cupcakes and 2 regular cupcakes for my daughters birthday party. On the Sat of the party I went to pick them up and they only made one dozen. That’s it. Completely wrecked the birthday party. My daughter didn’t want a cake she just wanted Gigi cupcakes. Apparently three weeks isn’t enough notice to make 3 dozen mini cupcakes. Give this place a wide birth they don’t care about their customers and especially children. Was told there’s nothing they could go and they were really sorry. Tell that to my ten year old.

I really like these cupcakes. The frosting is so incredible! They also had a very friendly staff on my experience. I was served by a cute blonde girl with a braid that did an excellent job personalizing my time by helping me pick my cupcakes and make my decisions. Will be coming again!

Gigi’s! Well I have always enjoyed the cake part but the frosting is just way too much.
If you have even seen the cupcakes you will notice that they have a huge sky high flip of icing. Some people enjoy that but it’s just wasted and tossed out most of the time.
My favorite is the southern comfort and the coconut snowball are amazing!
The cupcakes are 3 something each but if you buy more than 4 I think it goes to 2.75…

Friendly staff. Quick service. Everything stocked. You can order online in advance. I pick up something special once in awhile for home or a party. Never show up empty handed or leave hungry. :) cheers
