I visited Guadalajara Grill a few days ago and it was mediocre with one exception: Thomas, our waiter was AMAZING. The manager was truly creepy. The manager, Willy(I asked his name) awkwardly flirted with me(I speak Spanish and could understand the sexual comments made as he walked away) in front of my husband and daughter and made me feel really uncomfortable. We ordered the queso and it was watery and disgusting. Our waiter apologized, but we never heard anything from the manager or owner. We also heard curse words coming from the kitchen, which we did not appreciate in front of our 8 year old daughter. Our entrees and drinks, however, were better. Our waiter really tried to make out dinner better by talking to us, asking us questions, and being attentive. But the rest of the environment was weird and offensive. I will NEVER return to this restaurant and will warn my friends. I sincerely hope someone in charge of this place reads this and makes some big changes.

Drinks are overpriced, food quality is terrible. Only redeeming quality was the queso, which was average at best.

Save your money. Don’t eat here. Food was cold and very oily. I would have rather had an empty stomach than to eat food from here. Waiter was extremely rude and slamming plates when he brought the food. I would not recommend this place to anyone… the water had a horrible after taste too. You’re better off eating McDonalds and I HATE McDonalds.

Food was bland and full of oil. Chips were bland and cold. Would have rather ate my own feces. Never coming here again. Waiter was very rude too.

I saw a lot of the negative posts, but by that time, I was already inside. However, I was pleasantly surprised. People complained that the chips were stale — they were not. Both mine and my wife’s food was very flavorful and melted in your mouth. I would go again and I do recommend the place. Service was also very good

I really don’t like giving negative reviews. It’s not my intent to put a place out of business. Hopefully such reviews will be considered to make changes by owners. The food here was just blah. I had the pork carnitas tacos. I ordered it crispy and the shells tasted like they came out of the box. The pork lacked that golden brown caramelized color and taste. The salsa for the chips was spicy but good. That’s why I gave them 1 star for the salsa(not the chips). The service was good too so they get a star for that.

Please listen to other reviews. Avoid. Worst food ever. Seriously, Would rather have gone to mcdonalds. Everything was bland and tasted heavily of fry oil. Nachos were soggy. Server acted disgusted with us from the start, slamming things down on the table, not uttering a word, begrudgingly shrugged his shoulders in okay when I asked for ketchup for my burger&fries. It was unsettling. Beautiful location though.

Don’t waste your time or money here. I read the mediocre reviews prior to eating here, but I figured that I would take the chance. Big mistake, the chips were stale, portions were small, and the taste was bland. My advice would be to visit one of the many other restaurants in the area.

This was our first stop in San Antonio after checking into our hotel. This has a great location right on the outskirts of La Villita Village. When you walk inside, it is very bright and a lot to look at from the ceiling to what they have on the walls. The«Benefits of Tequila» sign was my favorite. My friend and I ordered frozen margaritas once we sat down. They were huge! I got the mango and she got the strawberry. They were delicious and strong. :) I ordered the black bean soup. This might have been the best thing I ate in San Antonio. I was suffering from a bad sore throat and cold so this helped immensely. It had fresh chives, cheese, croutons and sour cream on the side that I could add to the top of the soup. Absolutely amazinggg! YUM! I also ordered a small soft beef taco with no tomatoes. When I got the taco, it had tomatoes on it. I didn’t say anything, but while I was eating my soup, our waitress came over and noticed it. She took it right back and they made me a new one with no tomatoes. Points! The taco was ok for me. The owner was very friendly and flirty. He came over to our table many times to make sure everything was right and if we were enjoying ourselves. Once we were done with our food, they had no problem with us taking our margaritas and going outside onto the patio to finish them. If you’re looking for fresh great Mexican, definitely check this place out!

I was there this wkd with a group of 6. 4 of is each order fajitas. Only got 3 tortillas for all 6 of us. So I tried gettin a waiter to help since ours only took the order then disappeared. We never got anything after complaining to 3 other waiters including the manager. So finally our waiter returns to say tortillas are comin. It had already been over 30 mns since the food came out. I simply said nevermind bout the tortillas because food was cold. He yelled at us sayin he was super busy with 5000 people besides us. Still paid but wi never go back or reccomend anyone.

I wasn’t mad about a $ 23 pitcher of dos Equis until I saw the $ 40 charge for a pitcher of the house margarita. Insane!!!

Tourists beware! Coming from a local, do not waste your appetite in this place. We ordered the chili queso, not sure if they had made it from day before or even worse 3 days before! My friends ordered house margaritas, all they could taste was the mix. Go to Rosario’s off of Alamo, you will not regret it!

The picture posted as the«front» builds you up for a fairly big letdown. It looks so pretty and festive on the pic, but pulling up… Meh. We were very underwhelmed. Friday early evening, We ended up stopping on the Riverwalk to eat and when told it would be 1.5 hours to get in for dinner and so we Unilocaled this place just a stone’s throw off the riverwalk and popped over to either spend some time getting drinks or even let the place change our mind… it didn’t. It looked closed when we walked up and when we walked in it took a few minutes to be addressed by a host/server…we opted to sit outside on a pretty night… the service was very slow and the servers seemed to argue who was supposed to cover specific tables. We just got an appetizer(Nachos) and drinks… the chips were stale, the salsa was good, and the drinks were just alright in flavor(mediocre ingredients) and priced a little high for the quality. We got a couple of margaritas one on the rocks the other frozen. All in all it was a surprising experience at a place right off the riverwalk. I can’t attest to the food and probably won’t be able to. There are much better places.

This place is a jewel! Fantastic, authentic Tex-Mex food and wonderful Margaritas. My husband and I shared a combination platter for lunch and I can honestly say it was the best Tex-Mex we had during our entire weeks vacation. I don’t often write reviews, but I just have to share this place, if you come to San Antonio you have to stop here!!!

Service is super slow, there were only two other tables and it took a very long time to get our bill. Food was okay, nothing amazing. The restaurant is very heavily decorated which is kinda cool. Very tourist spot. I’m sure it would satisfy any craving for Mexican, but considering the area, I’m sure there is better around.

The service is so Sloooowwwww. The food is good but they take forever! Last time we were here it took 90 minutes to get our food. Yes, 90 minutes. This time was better but the service is still slow. It takes a long time to get refills. For whatever reason, it takes a really long time to prepare the Molcajete(fair warning). The food is good, but don’t be in a hurry when you come here.

Yikes! What a bummer. I came here with family during the Dia de Los Muertos Fest that was happening at La Villita. We opted for a sit down meal instead of the local tens and food trucks at the festival. After eating there I definitely regretted it. A quick summary of my visit: overpriced downtown fare, missing server, under seasoned food. We opted to sit outside because the weather was so gorgeous. It took a few minutes for our server to greet us and take our order. Another server brought out chips and salsa. I think most of us initially had sticker shock after a quick peek at the menu. We ultimately discussed how good the food could be with prices like that. I ordered the Mexican combo. The other two plates came out about ten minutes before my plate came out. Those dishes were delivered by a different server. I waited patiently until yet another server came with my plate. Instantly I knew it had been sitting around and was forgotten by the original food runner. My running tally of servers that had served us was up around four. The rice was cold and dried out. The beans were meh and nothing to write home about. Both of the enchiladas were unimpressive and lacking serious seasoning. The tostada was seriously the most depressing tostada my mouth had ever come in contact with. It was literally the tostada, beans, and a sprinkle of cheese. The only saving grace was the flauta which was flavorful and actually seasoned well. For close to $ 15 I was underwhelmed. The service was just another miss we had to endure during our lunch here. We joked that we may not get our credit card back because we had seldom saw our server during our dining experience. This Mexican restaurant is in the heart of La Villita so I understand the overpricing of items, but it doesn’t mean you can skimp on quality of the food you serve. I won’t be coming back to Guadalajara Grill again, I’ll allow the tourists to keep them open instead of me.

A group of us went by this place while on a SegCity Ultimate Tour with Guide Amanda. We got done with our Segway adventure and decided to go back for lunch. Among our group of 7 we had Margaritas, Nachos, Queso, Enchiladas, Fajitas, Carne Asada… and more. Not a single complaint of anyone in our group. The service was friendly, and funny… and the food was delicious. Especially recommend the tableside made guacamole. Amazing! The décor was fun, and hilarious. Really wish we could have made it back during an evening to check out the bar scene at this location!
